  • This is a video on how I did my upgrade on my PS1 MTH 765 over to PS3.0
I'm sorry but this is a long video, but I wanted to show what all it takes to do this upgrade. I see many people asking how hard it is to do.

I will be doing a K4 from proto 1 to proto in the near future. These videos are very helpful one thing the concerns me on many of these videos is that I don't see any ESD compliance.

That’s why I show the ESD pad in the beginning of the video. And I have the band on my arm hooked to the pad. I hope this will help you out. Thanks for watching!!!

I really liked this. It shows that the PS3 upgrade really is not as daunting as some would lead you to believe.

Hey Chris - That was a very informative video and thanks for making it. You have a lot more patience than I do. I do have a question though. When you are running the redone Berkshire alongside the Big Boy I noticed that the chuffs per revolution was 1. I would guess that would be the software default until changed.

Thanks! It was a big job but we’ll worth it. Yes I think when I down load the new file it should make the right chuffs per revolution. Thanks for watching and noticing that. I will try to finish this locomotive up soon!

Hello from the UK. A very helpful and useful video thank you. I have a 1999 Premier Daylight with Auxiliary Water Tender and a Railking Y6B Mallet to do.
Can I ask a few questions for guidance please?
1 What is the red U shaped fibre looking piece on the workbench that I don't think you used.
2 Are the MTH upgrade kits then universal for any PS1 Steam Engine or do I need a specific one for each of my engines?
3 Do you buy your upgrade kits from MTH direct?
4 What is the thermo grease you use please and why do you need to use it?
5 What's the purpose of the antistatic mat and is it a must?
Many thanks. Much appreciated and has encouraged me to have a go.
    Stuart

Hello Stuart, and welcome to my channel!
I would be glad to help you out with your questions.
1 I think you asking about the shim that if needed to lift the plug in the locomotive chassis so it lines up!
2 they are universal kits and have to be modified to fit the train your installing it on.
4 Yes most of the time or if I know someone who is selling one!
5 It helps with heat transfer and needs to be used to transfer the heat to the heat sink!
      Thanks for watching
      Chris

No problem! Mine is starting to stretch out and I find at my wrist it gets caught on the project I’m working on, and sometimes things hit the floor.
