Thank you, I really appreciate you taking a look at the Kizer Variable Wharning. This is part of the Variable family. There are other blades, Broad head and Claw fill out the basic profiles. They were once produced by Meyerco years ago. DE is an oversight on my part. I didn't specify the steel, I assumed it would be 154cm. In future production I will ask for that. This design was inspired in early 2000s by Fred Perrin's LaGriffe. Awesome knife! A LEO friend of mine carried the LaGriffe but wanted it to be completely ambidextrous. He didn't want to think about blade orientation when he was drawing the knife. So, the Broad head was born. Centrally oriented handle dagger blade, any grip. Clinch grip to make space and run or get to a superior weapon. I am planning on being the Broad head and Claw out as a production knife under my own brand. Hoping to have prototypes in a few months.
I just grabbed the Variable Wharncliffe off of the Kizer site.. It cost me $17.80 with shipping included! Use code : 10Code to get $10 off! This is for the D2 variant. Can't wait to get it. You did an amazing job on this little beast! Great design. ✌️😎
The grip is surprisingly good and versatile for sure. The sheath is really thin, but after carrying it ITW for a while, it is not more concealable or easy to carry than a thin classic fixie.
Thank for sharing. Makes me look forward to my XLRT, though I may look at one of these as well especially if Dirk get them produced in 154CM as he stated in his comment.
Thanks as always for the review. Have really become a Pinkerton fan boy since picking up the Nighthawk. Agree about the steel. I have no problem with D2 but would have rather seen 14c or even 9cr. Not like this is made to cut hundreds of feet of cardboard at a time. Have never exactly understood blades geared towards self defense being made from high end steel. Not implying this one is by any stretch just throwing that out there.
I have to admit when I first saw it I thought; WTF is that! 🤯 It does look interesting from a user point of view and It could find itself in my pocket!
A poor man's Spyderco! No need to hide this one if you are dealing packages all day long or always misplacing your utility knife. Wonder if it'd be hard to clamp down and sharpen.

Many thanks for the background color, Dirk! Looking forward to future iterations of this design for sure! 🗡️👏🔥
Ditto!
@@OGBladeReviews The 154cm version is out now, if you're still interested.

Nice! I need one. I have a custom Variable Broadhead and I love it! Dirk Pinkerton does great work and your collection is amazing!
Thanks for watching! 👍🗡️👊
Finally a designer that understands that the best approach is to have a symmetrical handle with a single edge for better cutting geometry.

I've used his Variable Claw for years. It's especially good in the pikal grip. Actually, all grips are comfortable. Gonna have to get the wharncliffe.

Nailed it on the steel. First thing I thought of when I saw D2 on the blade. I'm still getting it though. :D
Thats very cool! Great video 👍
I’m very interested in this design. I agree 14C would have been a better choice.
Dirk also makes customs for $150 out of S35VN, If you're interested.... 😁🗡️👍
@@OGBladeReviews looked at this on White Mountain and now it comes in 154 cm. 🤩

Great review
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
Its a cool design. Not really for me but kinda wish it was. 😊

I went through the same process and I came up liking it! 🗡️👍
I recommend using a break free connector rather than a knot. It's dangerous to to have a lanyard tied around one's neck.
Quite true. All neck knives should come with one. 👍🗡️
Really sad for the steel. The D2 is really too chippy on thin blade
Thanks! Interesting 🤔 I'll see how mine holds up. 👍🗡️

Either freehand or clamp should work. 🗡️🔥👍
