- A group of deep sea explorers say they've found the plane's location - and they will share their findings during a free event Friday and Saturday mornings.
Seriously premature claim in my opinion
An opinion which I passionately share
The wings look more swept on the scanned image that on the plane she actually flew.
They aren’t claiming anything. They are showing their “promising target”. Which it is promising. A mile+/- deep and after scanning miles upon miles of bottom. Mowing the lawn as they say. For weeks without anything. Then you come up on a target like this? I’d be pretty happy and at least they aren’t claiming they have found it. They have to go back with a camera/rov to get eyes on it. And then hopefully they can make a definitive statement. Slow news day they keep pushing for interviews with basically no new information. It’s a very costly and arduous trek to even get to the area. Probably millions of dollars. They must be chomping at the bit to get back there and drop a camera down. Her plane is very unique so it’s not that easy to fit the profile of it. In that area what are the chances. But could just be a rock formation that looks like a Lockheed Electra. Whats Vegas saying
@@blipco5 maybe part of the crash
@@pleasedontwatchthese9593 Too symmetrical. Wings are very strong. They'd sooner rip off the frame than bend.
This “we think we found it” crap is getting old.
It’s old because it isn’t even “we think”, it’s “we solved”
It's "we think we found it!! Please donate as we don't have enough money"

I concur. Same old crap promising target 🙄
@thomaswolf2516 they didn't ask for money or push a product though

Gee, it took so much effort, I'm surprised you're not spent now.
@@redbarchetta8782 It could literally be anything, he's right.
@@JL1Actually, the sonar image is all but certainly that of a twin-engine, twin Vert Stabilizer, WW2 (or pre) era aircraft, and it’s in the area Amelia would have likely performed a water landing. I doubt it’s the Electra, but the image isn’t, “just anything.”
Hurry the hell up and look again
Why didn’t the reporter say it was like the plane sitting behind him instead of the toy in his hand. Jeez these reporters have no clue
It's a testament to Amelia's skill that she landed the plane exactly in the middle of the enclosed museum display. A true heroine!
Because he saw a chance to bring his toys to work and play with them.
@@zzz7zzz9 😆
It’s easier for the viewer to see the plane in his hand, and doesn’t require setting up a camera for a clear view at the plane behind him.
@@frogcatdog Yes its dumb proof reporting...irritating and necessary at the same time!
Lots of planes have crashed in the Pacific, particularly during WWII. Way too early to declare you found her plane.
If they found a plane they most likely will find the bodily remains of someone who passed during that time and what a tragic loss
@@ralphferley8884 Unlikely. If her remains were underwater, they would've degraded and decomposed long ago. Even her bones.
@@ralphferley8884sea life would have consumed any flesh within a year. Bones will dissolve in the calcium-deficient deep sea within 5 years. Same reason nobody remains on the titanic wreck.

UNSUBSTANTIATED Claim
“This is obviously a miniature.” Dammit, I thought that was the actual plane.
I didn’t know she was that small…
Is that something they learn in school, to assume your audience is stupid? Or is it just their nature; the reason they gravitate to journalism?
@@johnkoral888
So true; thanks Gen Z.
What is that, a plane for ants? How were they supposed to use it, if they can't fit in? It needs to be bigger, at least 3 times that size.
😊9😊p0😅😅😊@@johnkoral888
I’m glad he clarified that was a miniature plane in his hand 🙄
Wait … what ???
The sad thing is, there might just be enough people without brains who reenact the scene from Zoolander, when he throws a fit over the miniature school model 😂
This is the same sonar image that was released months ago. There is nothing new here. I think these guys ran out of money and now they're starting a PR push to get more funds. I'll believe it when we see unmistakable images -- the kind of images we get from teams like Bob Ballard's and Paul Allen's when they _actually_ find something.
There's a corncob dingbat outta Denver that goes by Earhardt's name. She makes the circuit claiming to be blood, but of course DNA 23 and me doesn't line up and the santa claus story the parents advanced from child hood has caught up with this fraud. She coughed up a bunch contributors with Denver media connections, advanced the lie, and flew around the world on somebody's dime. Now we have a book and speaking engagement at the Civil Air Patrol National meeting? PT Barnum lives!
They got that image from a Hugins HISAS, which is able to be processed to 3 cm resolution. This is a unprocessed image to drum up funds. Hugins are also equipped with cameras for photo runs and able to create mosaic images for positive identification.
Aliens got her. She was on Star Trek Voyager. Found her on another planet in the delta quadrant😮
😂
Don’t forget her co pilot Tackleberry. 😅
That's right, one of "The 37". But, there weren't 37 people in that cave, so why that number?
Her electra didn't have swept wings.
Detached wings
@@damu1814🎯
The plane the CIA is looking for has swept wings.
Sshhhhhh, we need more funding and donations to play on a boat in the ocean.
@@damu1814
If they detached the wings still wouldn't look like that. It's a different plane.
I feel dumber for watching this
Many words but no content.
Like kamala
The plane in his hand is not the actual plane she flew, it would be too small.
Amelia was really small too.
😂
I dunno, Amelia was a pretty small person.
@@SvendleBerries I still doubt it that plane looks to new, there’d have to be some kind of damage.

Hmm, maybe. Lots of questions indeed.
Wow, no wonder her plane was so difficult to find. Its only 12 inches in length,
I fish probably swallowed it thinking it was a new fancy lure
Feel like this is going to be another Al Capone's Vaults type of situation. All we need is Geraldo Rivera to host this one. lol
Do let us know when you actually find something 😂
Bigfoot, UFOs, Aliens, Demons 😂😂😂
Reporter wants to show you a model of the plane he’s standing in front of 😂😂😂
Well, now I understand why it’s taken so long to find the Electra, and why the guys on the Itasca couldn’t see her on approach to Howland….. the plane is only 10’inches long.
This story came out months ago.
So now her plane has swept wings? Amazing.
Could be bent or broken from a rough water landing.
She's been found at least 19 times since 1990!
While the sonar image is compelling, until they dive the site and see it first hand they have no idea if it's the actual airplane..
This reporter is the stations "kitten stuck in a tree" guy!
Holds up a Tamagatchi. "This is just a toy, not like the real cats behind me."
NEWSFLASH Their Sonar image is a rock formation sadly and weirdly enough as it does look like Amelia's plane as in the right location - ....The Romeo brothers have sadly confirmed that last week.
Her plane is RIGHT BEHIND THEM in the hanger😂😂😂
I was excited to learn they found it…I didn’t learn anything. 😢
I learned the plane he was holding was a miniature.
@@HarmonsHarborThat was actually the big reveal
I was excited months ago when this story first came out, and it appears nothing has changed. They still have nothing……… well except for a toy model.
Nothing here but delusional clickbait fortified with wishful hoping!
"Journalist": Explorers say they definitely found Earhart's plane. The measurements are exact.
Explorer: We believe it may be Earhart's plane. The measurements are close.
This looks like the same radar image that they took earlier in the year. Two things, it is extremely unlikely that the plane hit the water and sunk in one piece and that radar return doesn't show us anything. A splotch that vaguely resembles an airplane that someone neatly set on the bottom of the ocean right side up? At this point I do not think we will ever know where they went down. Leave Amelia alone, let her rest in peace.
This is just an ad for their lecture ! He found a "very promising target" ! This is utter bulshit. And the reporter points out the model in his hand is a miniature while he can turn around and show us the real thing right behind him ! This must be a joke.
Since i was a child thjs story wouldn't go away. Please solve this so I can finally have closure.
Since I was a kid, I've heard stories about Amelia Earhart. Stories that she ditched in the sea, crash landed on Howland Island, or she was shot down by the Japanese, or captured on an island that she crashed landed on by the Japanese held captive then executed and buried and a number of other stories including that she went into hiding. They may have found Earhart's Lockheed Electra Aircraft. But until they bring up and positively identify that is is the Earhart aircraft we will never know for sure. So far everything is based off of a blurred sonar image. It might be an aircraft or it could be something else that the sonar image looks like one, This has happened many times on other things they were looking for.
But one has to remember, her disappearance happened in July 1937, just 3 years and 4 months later Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese and America was thrown into WWII. Japan had started to expand its territory about 1904 with the Japanese-Russian War and started to expand and build on Pacific Islands by 1931. At that time there were many uninhabited islands that would becom strategic places that could be forward locations to house troops, become forward supply bases, ship harbors, refueling bases, ship repair, submarine facilities, Seaplane facilities and if big enough for a runway to have aircraft stationed. So if this is an aircraft on that sonar image, it could be a number of civilian and military aircraft. Lockheed developed off of the Model 10 Electra and made the Model 14 Super Electra to compete in the commercial airline industry. This was a slightly scaled up version of the Model 10 that held 10 passengers to hold 14. Lockheed built a total of 354 Model 14 Super Electra here in the US for commercial use. When WWII started the Super Electra was sold and many were modified for US military use as well as export versions for the Allies. They were used for training, transport, reconnaissance and combat as well. One being the Hudson Bomber that was developed from the Super Electra. However Japan was also licensed to build the Lockheed Super Electra and built many more both for commercial use as well as military use. All together there were thousands of Lockheed Electra type aircraft built.
In addition to that, after the war many of these aircraft found their way into many civilian hands all over the world for both private and commercial use. So until they are able to bring up the aircraft or a number of parts with good serial numbers that can positively identify it as Earhart's aircraft, it could be anything.
For one I hope it is Amelia Earhart's aircraft so all of this can come to an end and let her rest in peace.
Thank you for this info!!!
A well documented reply that leaves more questions to be answered, so until they come with real evidence, we will just have to wait & see, RIP AMELIA & FRED, you were both great people.
Yes, I read all of those books many years ago. There are many of them, they all come to a different conclusion, and they all claim to have "conclusively proven" their theory. Obviously at most one of them can be true, maybe none of them. I'd love to see Amelia's plane found in my lifetime, but as of now there isn't any proof at all that this is it, or that it is even an airplane.
A more thorough investigation of the wreckage would confirm whether or not it’s Amelia Earhart’s plane.
The person who is the professional also did an interview on Dana and parks a local radio show saying that they have encountered numerous rock formations with similar configurations to the plane.
When they went back it turned out to be a formation of rocks.
Did they make a video❓🤔😂
@@pjesf They posted an image on their facebook page of the rock formation.
@ Gotcha - thank you 👍🏻
Until an ROV or special-purpose DSV such as the Alvin is sent down to photograph the wreck this announcement is premature.
Soon as he said "promising target", I wrote him off.
It’s been a few months since this posted . Update us!?
Announced on 11/25/24 that it was a rock formation. Something anout never counting chickens comes to mind 🤔
There’s no way she could hold her breath this long

Best "we found it" yet. Good luck to them.
Excuse me, but the wings of the sunken craft are swept back like an F-86 jet. Hello??
Turns out they’re actually spread back like a rock formation 😂
maybe FJB's uncle bosie is in that wreck - the cannibals didn't eat him afterall
There are a lot of deep sea salvage experts on UA-cam😂
Three miles down? Holy Titanic, Batman.
They don't know that they found anything. Media distorts so badly.
Please show me the video of it sitting on the bottom and you get the credit.
"This is obviously a miniature". 🤣
Probably doesn't know what a woman is either. Lol that's how stupid this is
Yea, like he was making some kind of big reveal, and we couldn't see for ourselves it was a miniature.
Lots of twin engine plane disappeared over the pacific, especially in WW2.
The sonar image appears to show a plane with different-style wings.
Hopefully it is the actual plane and the country can put to rest what actually happened to her!! Wonder if they could bring the wreckage up or should they keep it where it is!!
Her plane did not have swept back wings
Did you even consider one time that she may still be alive? Sure, she's probably sick of eating raw fish by now, and drinking salt water is truly wretched, but what if?
Every few years people say they've found it, then turns out they really haven't. Wait till it's actually been confirmed,
"Deep sea explorers find rocks that look like a plane"
Three weeks later…and…?
…and no follow-up video announcing the fact that it was a rock formation. How embarrassing 😬
They found this Target several months ago, but have yet to send a camera down to confirm, which is strange
What are coordinates of plane's location?
I hope they find it, but there are literally thousands of planes in those waters, does anyone remember WW2?
This has been debunked months ago. A aviation expert says this is not an Electra.
Really? I’d been waiting to hear further news, which is what I thought this was. Doesn’t surprise me a bit
@@p-fx7gx me too! It’s hard for me to believe that nobody knows anything about Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan’s whereabouts.
May she rest in peace.
It's a definite maybe😖
I doubt that they are in any hurry to go back to the site of the "discovery". Once they find conclusive evidence that it's not Earhart's plane, their 15 minutes of fame will be over.
This came out months ago! A few news channels covered this story already.
“More than 87 years ago”. That’s a weirdly specific generalization.
And Matt…. How dramatic he is
Oh, and wasn’t this “finding” reported months ago? Like last January?
…and they finally know where Amelia Earhart LANDED!!
I don’t think crashing into the ocean really qualifies as landing.
😂
Did not hear a date for the follow-up visit.
The Amelia Earhart hair museum? 😂
This aircraft resembles more of the b25 dolittle raider.
If she was flying today, they would scream "WOKE!!!!" at her and cancel her accomplishments entirely. Red states would ban mention of her.
Looks more like a Korean or Vietnam war era swept wing jet fighter. Looks more like a Korean or Vietnam war era jet fighter. Saber Mig
How many times has this plane been found.
If Amelia Earhart was such a great pilot she would have never not gone out on a mission was never seen again.
They say they found it. Let me know when they actually do.
Update: With little fanfare, they announced on 11/25/24 that it not only wasn’t her plane but furthermore not A plane - just a rock formation. There’s a lesson here…
Not a shred of proof
Radar is a shred of proof. It’s not a made up thing.
How many times have people made these wild false claims over the years - 10 to 20? Thumbs down. Shalom
Imagine celebrating before you actually found the plane
The Titanic is nearly gone at this point. How would this be an aircraft and still have this much structure?
One time I lost a drone in the woods and found it 10 years later
Thanks for the laughs.
I believe that Amelia Earhart ended up on an episode of Star Trek the next generation
She was also in "night at the museum (1 or 2) .
@@danielbierwirth2190 thanks got to love to have a twisted sense of humor
I understand the explorers excitement however their evidence is SO inconclusive, I see no reason for anyone else to make that very long jump.
It's good to know that plane in his hands is just a miniature.
There must be more than one Amelia Earhart that I know of
If they found the wreckage, would they not go back with recovery equipment? While it's possible they found the plane, I'm skeptical.
Recovery... You do know she is probably in the plane and should really just be left where she is.
Thanks for making me lose 4 minutes of my life that I'll never get back
I actually found the plane. From google earth first. It’s missing pieces. She had a whole plane when it crashed.
How could anything be left of this plane after all these years?
Even a kid could see that what they found is nothing like the Electra. The image apears to have swept wings whereas the Electra does not.
Emilia ran out of fuel, crashed, her and Fred died. End of story….
the plane she took off with crashed in California after she was lost. she switched planes. Read the book, Amelia Lives. Best book i ever read.
They have been finding her since the 70’s. The general area is full of wreckage and airplanes.
Saying it’s her is a one in a couple thousand chance.
I remember a speaker I saw said they found her. This was many years ago when the drag behind sonars first came out and the company that built it was playing around in the area. That was a bust.
NO the image has swept back wings like a fighter. Her plane had huge engines under the wings, the sonar doesn't show any.
RIP Amelia
You will never be forgotten
Who would have thought Steven Spielberg would find Earhart's plane after all these years.
It's a miniature plane that you're holding??
Thank you for the clarification....
If, IF you think you found it, go confirm it so we can all cheer.....
They didn't find anything until they actually dive or send a submersible onto the site. Until then, this is a totally unfounded claim with no validity.
I've never doubted that Amelia's plane is resting somewhere on the sea floor. But the ocean is a big place and there are quite a few airplanes down there due to that WW2 thing. As of now we still don't know that the vague sonar image is Amelia's plane or even an airplane at all. I'll believe it when they find actual proof.
