Man the DCS: Supercarrier module sure is a lot of fun to have a bunch of people flying off of all at once! There were a couple little mishaps such as a JBD that hit an F-14's Radome but hopefully that can be avoided in the future!
Glenn Heston he publishes she full mission because people want to watch the full mission. there are plenty of edited missions he’s done, and others have done.
I'm just starting to get proficient with the AGM65Fs. Would love to be part of a big multiplayer wing some day. Gotta say that Carrier Ops in an F-18 in VR is incredible. Really fun video, Spud. Thanks for sharing (and for your tutorials, too!)
Hey, Spud, this was epic! You did a very good job with the Stratotanker, as well. You probably already know this, but IRL Hornet drivers are trained to look mostly at the tanker as they move up along side it. It is stressed not to stare at the basket. Simply fly off the airplane, and steal an occasional glance at the basket. It's more difficult when the weather is crappy, though, since the basket wants to jump around in the air (and wake) turbulence. Once you are taking gas, continue to fly off the airplane to avoid slipping out...giggity. Good Hunting, Spud, and check 6!
Wow, things have come a long way since 95. A Bachelors's degree is needed to fly a mission now well-done everyone! Thanks for the ride and it's a real treat to hear women getting in on this. I'm too old to be effective to give this a try again so I'm off to tie flies for summer hatches.
I would love to fly missions like this one day. I spend hours in DCS just flying solo. Suffer hard in situation awareness though wish I knew all the brevity communication, and the AG stuff.
Absolutely love these mission vids. Would you mind doing a tutorial on how to set up SRS for user created missions ? I create MP missions for myself and a friend but can’t seem to figure out how to get SRS working on those missions. I can use it on the MP servers just fine but not when I create the server and run a mission I created.
Getting a new PC in about a month and can’t wait to start in DCS! I have my heart set on the X56 HOTAS but if anyone has any major objections then let me know (bearing in mind I am completely new to flight simulation). I think I’ll be looking at getting the F-18 too but sometimes the F-16 looks too good to turn down so any help in that decision would be greatly appreciated. Absolutely loving binge watching these missions and I aspire to be an integral part of one of them with my friends in the next year or so!
2 months later, hope Im not late to the party. I have an X56 and it is a good MEDIUM grade HOTAS IMO. I just upgraded to all VIRPIL hotas. Stick, Throttle, and Control Box. I enjoy them much better. But They are pricey. I spent a well over $1500 USD for this setup. However if you want, use the X56 and just get the control box. Probably about $300 USD. Also Look up desk mounts. Itll save your shoulders from the hotas on the desk. Cost about $70USD each on Amazon.
Hey Spudknocker. I wanna start flying in DCS within the next year, (I'm building my PC next year) I'm fourteen and it seems like I'm gonna need some help flying the F/A-18 since I have the module pre purchased. Is there such thing as too young for DCS multiplayer? I'm extremely nervous.
You might get some people complaining about your age, but those are rare. The bigger issue is some groups have a minimum age limit (probably 30-50% of the groups) but eh, you can find good ones without minimum age. Speaking from expirience, since I also started DCS at 14.
@@slippulter8053 I started playing whenIwas 13,Not to talk youdown or anything but yea just be ready for that but also it may get very hard to find a good group.
hey yall in the comments. im still reading the manual for the F-14 in dcs world. i wanted to know if yall have any communities i could join to help me along the way? playing alone isnt really helping me learn any better and im kind of stuck in my understanding of the craft. any help would be appreciated!
Aircraft carriers generally only turn on the minimum amount of lighting when deployed in theater. The George Washington would make a very tempting target for the Iranian Navy in the event of actual hostilities.
in order for you to fly with mouse and keyboard you must reduce the realism from full realism to arcade game. It is possible BUT it's not why you install DCS. You want DCS because of the full realism so get yourself a stick even a cheap one ( like Logitech Extreme 3D Pro
@@predattak I used to play sim mode (not game mode) A-10C with just keyboard and mouse a number of years ago. Now I fly with a TM Warthog HOTAS, rudder pedals and Track-IR. It's sure doable to fly and shouldn't put people off giving it a go.
I played full sim aircraft with just keyboard and mouse and xbox controller. The biggest flaw with this setup is if you have no track IR you are going to be extremely busy almost constantly stuck to simply looking around.
Explain why, when leaving the aircraft carrier, you did not make a safety maneuver to the side and proceeded 7 nautical miles from the aircraft carrier at a speed of 300 and an altitude of 500, but immediately proceeded to Marshal?
Hate to say it Spud but your videos are kind of boring. Staying in your cockpit the whole time is not very entertaining at all. No flybys or weapons views or enemy views. Sorry to say it but it looks like all your doing is recording the mission and then uploading it. Your knowledge of what your doing is very impressive. You know your jet shit that is for sure. Obviously I am referring to the only videos of yours I have seen. I think about 10 or so at least. Anyway I do apologize for sounding negative but that is what these comments are for. The good and the bad. I hope I wasn't rude and if so I apologize for that too.
The only thing that lets you down is the cheating you do with having the marks on the aircraft that shouldn’t even be in the game... but everything else spot on.. the weirdest thing is u don’t even need the markers on???

The mechanics on the boat did a great job of getting us up and running in no time :D

@Glenn Heston I had a blast watching the whole thing.
I would love to join operations like these! do I join your discord for it?

Just wondering if you were referring to the F/A-18E Super Hornet game?
I have that CD still. Win95/98.
Gypsy seems like an amazing pilot 🤣
This is so insanely cool!
Do you ever see an unknown contact that turns out to be a civilian aircraft?
Nope but coming soon!
Late but this is giving me some "Raven One" vibes!
Your LSO is excellent.
haha yep!
LSO ?. Please explain to newb.

Very nice. Can you share the mis files?
is there a beginner control scheme for this?
And the next one forgot to put up his lunch bar because of the dark
hey spudknocker love your videos - how do you do missions with your friends?
Really like your style of videos. Really nice to chill to and I always learn a lot, I just wish I had the time to play DCS more
Are you playing with vr or without?
How are the terms Waypoint and Steerpoint suppose to be used? Seems like they get interchanged a lot. What’s the proper way to use each one?
Depends on what plane. They are the same thing but the hornet systems call them waypoints. F-16 systems call them steerpoints.

AH taxi light off!
One should not have your taxi lights on on the carrier. Other than that great vid!
Because there's no plane directors and there's no glowsticks in the deck crew's hands we did the best we could for the circumstances
Spudknocker at least they are AI and can’t be blinded by the light
@@eclipticsim LOL exactly haha
NIGHT VISION - use your goggles. And yes, ED needs to add lighted wands.
Steven Kinney again that’s also going to be unrealistic, pilots don’t use NVG’s on the carrier deck

how come the carrier deck is so dark? Thought they had flood lights on the deck so you can see where you're going.

Its "possible" but the vast majority use HOTAS joystick and throttle setups.
