Where you talk about "hero theme", that's a recurring motif throughout a TON of Destiny music. The hardcore players immediately get goosebumps cuz we recognize it almost as an Easter egg.
that rules.
God I love the guardian motif its always gives me so much empowerment when it happens typically during a damage phase so you are just full on unleashing your whole arsenal on the boss to do as much damage as possible and GAH it makes you feel so heroic and strong!
"Queen's Oracle" and "Remembrance" are some of my favorite Destiny tracks
Add to that "Traveler's Promise", both original and reprise from D2. And, of course, one of the best - "Shadow Thief", both original and redux. And "Music of the Spheres". God, there are so much high-quality Destiny music, which is really perfect even outside of the game itself.
Honestly one of the best Destiny pieces I’ve heard is ‘Riven of a Thousand Voices’. The stuttering they do in the track is incredible and somehow really fits the theme of ‘fighting a ginormous space dragon that can grant wishes Faust style’
‘Riven of a Thousand Voices’ isnt a track name btw
It‘s called Keep of Voices I think
'Shell of What Was' was a very good soundtrack from that same raid :D
@@quirkyjezza "shuro chi's tempo quickens"
Keep of Voices (Cursed) is the real track name btw
You definitely gotta do “the first disciple” and “oneirophobia (action)”
both are top of my list to film! coming VERY soon!
@@emyoung rooting for It! Also yeah the song of this video is also Great. I really like the pirate theme
@@emyoung So glad to hear. If you haven't already, please acquaint yourself with the Guardian and Darkness leitmotifs. Once you know them, you start hearing them ALL over the place, and Oneirophobia has one part where they are used to perfection. For example, the Guardian leitmotif plays at: 1:41 2:57 and many other times in this video (I'm sure you can find them now!). Knowing these motifs elevate The First Disciple and Oneirophobia to the next level.
Guardian theme: ua-cam.com/video/iL0k_C5B3rY/v-deo.html
Darkness theme: ua-cam.com/video/bhq0HfPeezc/v-deo.html
I’d say listen to the game version which has all tension action and high action. the first dps is amazing.
@@emyoung The First Disciple is one of my favorite tracks in the series. Can’t wait to see your reaction!
What I love about the Destiny scores is that they're so varied. Some of them are big sweeping orchestral numbers, others invoke medieval themes, and this one is a damn pirate song! The music I feel does a great job of reflecting whatever mood or aesthetic the developers want you to feel.
Also if you're interested in other game scores, I'd highly recommend "Daredevil" from Ace Combat 7. In fact, the composer "did the impossible" and rushed through this song right before release because he felt the game's finale needed a more impactful song!
That was a great pick up for the clash of medieval and sci fi. At its conception, destiny was a fantasy medieval game before switching back to their strong suit in sci fi. They carried over a lot of the names as a result 😊
Makes sense!!
They're so good at capturing the theme that the devs wanted to portray. The entire season was pirate themed. Great dungeon and just as great music.
That part you mentioned that sounds like the hero moment is the melody from “Be Brave” which is a track from an earlier album in Destiny 2. Grasp of Avarice took “Be Brave” and made it pirate sounding. Highly recommend “Be Brave”.
seen it mentioned a few times, "the man they called cayde" is both the saddest(feels) and most triumphant song in the destiny universe IMO
My favorite soundtrack by far. Its simply brilliant
10/10 track :)
5:26 You're absolutely right! Something you may notice is that this portion is actually using a common motif found throughout the entire discography of Destiny in various places. There are quite a few motifs that subtly guide the music towards calling back to familiar topics, and this Hero Theme portion is using the musical motif for the Guardians as a whole and is also heard in tracks such as Be Brave (from the Destiny 2 Original Soundtrack) as well as others. There is also a motif for the players character and their triumphs specifically, heard in Inner Light, and then is also heard in "Journey", "Riven of a Thousand Voices", and if you listen out for them, many others.
I note they plan on checking out First Disciple and Oneirophobia soon, and they are both prime examples of this. The motif is used in the part of the track that plays during the phase of their associated boss fights where you can deal damage to the boss, so it encapsulates that idea of banding together, with the goal of beating the foe we are facing. Even more so, because more often than not your team in a raid will all be doing different things before the damage phase, before grouping together to all damage the boss.
loving your destiny videos so far! 👌🏻🤝🏻
ty!!
I love that at the exact moment I found you on UA-cam you seem to have fallen down this Destiny rabbit hole of magical melodies. I got here at the right time and can't wait to hear what you decide to listen to next. There's so much variety between Destiny 1 and 2 and so many amazing pieces, I don't know how you choose which pieces to react to, I mentioned one the last time I commented on something but that doesn't seem like how it's done... So I'll just wait til hopefully you get to it, til then I'm looking forward to what you have in store for us guardians out here. The Traveler awaits... And me alongside it, keep up the great work and breakdowns 😊
I love the pirate vibe the Grasp of Avarice theme has. Two songs I remember off the top of my head that also have that pirate vibe are "Gunslinger" from Forsaken and "Hashladûn’s Fall" from Shadowkeep. Some of my favorite songs in Destiny!
TODAY WE BE PIRATES!
Honestly the love the composers give to the brass section is what immediately grabbed me. That has persisted even when the music gets more electronic or synthy. If you want a brand brand new track, Oneirophobia is the raid boss theme and it is 🤯🤯🤯
Oneirophobia is next on my list to film! Coming very soon!
so you talked about the moment the heroes band together, it usually is the damage phase of a boss fight, so the usual steps are a bunch of mechanics the team needs to do to make the boss take damage for our weapons, and that window only lasts a little bit so the music always ramps up for the dps phase, it also usually has the Guardian Motif in it, its one of my favourite parts of the destiny boss musics
some amazing suggested tracks,
Shell of what was - very different, was a raid encounter that was always on the move alway with a timer counting down and the music reflects that (there are 2 versions, as much as i love the longer one the 1:45 one is the meat of the piece)
The First Disciple - a bombastic boss who underestimates us and plays with us until its too late (great example of guardian motif for dps phase)
Riven of a Thousand Voices - Giant Reality warping Dragon that has been corrupted, super complicated fight where every second matters
Sanctified Mind - VERY different, its a Giant Machine mind corrupted by the darkness and so this is a very electronic piece but i LOVE it.
Oneirophobia - (the fear of dreams) a raid boss, the king of nightmares but currently the forces of light and dark are battling inside him during the fight, causing him to mutate and burst that energy out, the music i think does a great job of showing this.
got many more lol but this is getting too long, also Ark's themes are amazing if you want a different game (Ark Survival Evolved, the various expansions all have a variation on the main theme and they are all amazing, Extinction being my favourite)
oh bass PLUCKED... I almost got myself into a situation 😏This was a great reaction - loving the Destiny vids so far
Destiny has too many good tracks I will be reacting to them for years to come hahah
The composers of the Destiny soundtrack consistently put out bangers, but one of the best tracks that I feel has been put out is the first disciple. Like it sets the tone from just the opening and really just perfectly encapsulates the feeling that you are fighting something as menacing as Rhulk
I agree
Really cool learning all this music stuff (I'm musically clueless) alongside soundtracks to some of my favourite games! A welcome surprise in the UA-cam feed for sure.
If you haven't already, I would recommend checking out the OST for Hollow Knight if you get the chance. Really beautiful and varied tracks in there.
I adore HK! one of my favorite games and among my favorite OSTs:)
When I here this song, I think Pirates of the Caribbean, which makes sense since it is a pirate themed dungeon
There's just too much fantastic music in the Destiny franchise. One of my personal favorites is "Queen's Oracle". If you love horns, that's your track ;)
Been having your content in my recommended for a while really enjoying it & learning more about appreciating music aswell :)
Thank you!! I'm glad to hear!
1:34 I’ve always held that destiny is really a fantasy game set in space/a sci fi setting and I’m so glad the music reflects that
that "heroes banded together" segment often triggers in-game during "dps" phases. when the players are meant to stop doing 'mechanics' are just start wailing on the boss
You should see some of the Last Wish raid ones, especially Watchtower II(Vault encounter) and Shell of What Was(Queenswalk encounter)
Thank you, wishing all the best for your interesting career path, you are pushing me hard to get back to Destiny 2 after a while of quitting..
glad to hear it! hope you enjoy getting back into the game!
@Em Young ye that wasn't a compliment
This is one of the songs in the game (there are a few) which has me singing along to it as I play, especially during the final boss fight.
This is the main theme for a dungeon which is based around a cave full of treasure, highly inspired by things like Indiana Jones and Pirates of the Carribean, lots of traps andraiders and buried treasure and such, you can really hear that inspiration in the theme.
Love how they blend in the motifs of the Guardian and stuff too, as they always do. Whenever you hear the 'Guardian' theme come in, you know its time to do DPS to a boss.
One of my favorite destiny tracks is "whisper of the worm" from the warmind dlc. It makes me think of classic 80s neon style like you'd see in for cry blood dragon. Like neon noir.
I feel like a "space pirate", I want to be a space pirate!
"You can have the earth, I own the Galaxy mwah"
Enjoyed your reaction 😊
Pirate adventure dungeon real good piece of music
That's got to be the best guardian I've ever seen
@@eranronen573 So it would seem...
LOVED this amazing breakdown and opinion here is one you should also perhaps look at The Man They Called Cayde Destiny 2 OST I think you will love it
i think i've gotten this rec before, so it's on the list! seems to be a favorite!
“Questioning the Light” is a really good one
I’m glad I get to see someone enjoy destiny music like I have over the years. My favorite to this day is still Regicide. I’m glad you’re enjoying them too!
I'll jump in with some Destiny music recommendations!
Oneirophobia is great and is quite recent. Personally, I like the 'Full Action' version that you can find on UA-cam more than the OST version, but they're both good (the 'Full Action' version is what plays in game, as opposed to being cut up into a song for the OST)
Music of the Spheres is an album of music from Destiny 1's launch put together by Marty O'Donnell, Michael Salvatori, and Paul McCartney, which I think is all great. My favorite from that album is "The Path"
There's also a purely vocal version of Journey that plays in Orbit which I like quite a bit
Other fan favorites:
Sepiks and Sepiks Redux (Sepiks Redux was a fan-made adaptation made by Misha Mansoor that Bungie put into the game when they updated the original activity)
The Last Array
Bow to No One
Cabal Stomp
Young Wolf
The Sanctified Mind
Oneirophobia is next on my list to film! Stoked to hear it, it's HIGHLY recommended
Props for Bow to No One. Will always be my number one.
A few OST recommendations
Sea of Thieves is pirates and usually very whimsical
A few songs I'd recommend:
We all sail together
Who shall not be returning
The Sea Forts theme
On the Warpath
Dark Souls had 3 games and was made by the same developers of Bloodborne and Elden Ring, it's this melancholy and somber
Nameless Song
Ash Lake
Artorias of the Abyss
Gwyn
Firelink Shrine
For Dark Souls 2:
Majula
Sir Alonne
Vendrick
and for DS3:
Abyss Watchers
Sister Fried
Twin Princes
Soul of Cinder
Slave Knight Gael
Midir
Firelink Shrine/Secret Betrayal
Awesome content. Lllove it! Also if you want something a bit extra from Destiny i recommend the Sanctified Mind theme. Its completely different than what you covered so far
YES YES YES I WAS WAITING FOR THIS
As you keep going through destiny's music a lot of motifs can be heard throughout!
Looking forward to your reaction to the D2 track, Dominus Ghaul
'Bow to No One' is a must do, haven't seen anyone else do it but its regarded as one of the best by far
this piece is one of my all time favs, playing the grasp of avarice for the first time with this music playing all along truly felt like a pirate-like adventure, the experience was like no other!!
Hello I’ve been loving your content and have 2 great destiny 2 songs; forsaken track 4; ghauls theme
ty! and ty for the recs!
Grasp of Avarice content is pirate themed about a character that hoarded treasure and left traps to protect it, fyi if you hear it in the music.
that rules. i can definitely hear it!
If you do plan on reacting to Oneirophobia, i recommend listening to the “Full Action” version from the channel Promethean! The version that Bungie posted in their own channel is actually missing some sections from the ingame version. Just a heads up if i’m not too late 😁😁
Kind of surprised I don’t see people recommending The Sanctified Mind. As great as all the soaring orchestral tracks are, there’s something special when Salvatori and crew decide to get filthy with it.
The Fallen are space pirates and in this specific dungeon, some Guardian went down there with his team and promised to share the riches found in the dungeon, but ultimely got greedy and killed his own ghost and his teammates because he wanted all the treasure for himself… hence the name Grasp of Avarice
Got to be my favorite song out of all destiny tbh
We have to get you to one of these destiny 2 raids and dungeons soon
You need to do The shell of what was this ost is INCREDIBLE !
It’s like a pirate adventure space pirates goin for treasure
I normally don't care for reaction vids but seeing as you are into the industry and know your craft, seeing your reaction has meaning. I really do appreciate it more than someone that really has no grasp of musical processes and production.
I think other great pieces are „riven of a thousand voices“, „the first disciple“ or from the latest OST „oneirophobia“
This is my third favorite ost in destiny
As somebody who solo-ed grasp of avarice and despised it, I hear this music in my nightmares
A few you may enjoy:
The First Disciple
Riven of a Thousand Voices
Watchtower
Replicate/Look Within
keep of voices is so insane please listen to it. Also oneirophobia, shell of what was, crota's theme, the hunted, and so so many more.
oneirophobia is up! others are added to the list ty!
Would absolutely love to hear your thoughts about "The Last Array" from Destiny 1.
Reason being is that it was the last piece of OST during a time in Destiny 1's story where the tone of the game changed due to a change in management and development of the game. (survived being cut, essentially). Destiny 1 and 2 have a pretty consistent melody system in place but this particular song has a different vibe about it altogether, though you'll hear that aforementioned melody too.
I absolutely love this track, truly incredible and I get a total pirate theme from this. I really recommend warthog run from halo. Incredible video again.
I wanna get access to destiny music scores so much, it’s so interesting so how everything is orchestrated
Oneirophobia (Full Action) is a great one cause it has a bunch of parts from old soundtracks
That's up next for me to film! Really excited to hear it!
You should check out “storm the keep” or “riven of 1000 voices” next, two great destiny tracks
It would be cool to see you react to Sepiks Prime and then Sepiks Redux.
Prime was in the original game and Redux came out in a later expansion as a metal version of Prime. Super fun
Loving all of the destiny music. I’ve played the game for so long and would pay so much to hear this for the first time again. Some songs I would highly recommend-
The last stand
The first disciple
Oneirophobia
Journey (vocal variant 1 or 2)
There’s honestly so many good ones
You’ve gotta check out Remembrance, view from orbit, eye of the gate lord, dust giants, cabal stomp, the last city, into the light, respite and shadowkeep. I know that’s a lot but all are really good
The dungeon this is for. The grasp of Arvice has a Halo easter egg in it.
Gotta pitch a track from Destiny one that was my second favourite track from Destiny one (second to “Eyes Up” from the wrath of the machine) and that is “The Last Array”, it’s awesome!
This dungeon is so good
this is my favourite one !
You should take a look at Sepiks Prime and Sepiks Redux from Destiny 1! Sepiks Prime was a boss that was killed fairly early, and was resurrected with advanced technology around 2 years later. It's really interesting to hear the changes they make to its theme
Love the tracks you've gone through, and like others have said already do keep an eye on the tracks from Promethean, Last City Radio, and others not just the official ost cut! Often some of the best parts only show up in the Action or High Action that only show up ingame otherwise.
5:04 me everytime I hear this song xD
The Lightfall OST is my current jam, and really looking forward to you giving Nier: Automata a spin!
You should listen the grasp of avarice + gunslinger Mashup, it's amazing. Also long live to the King (ost from the takeng King DLC) in my opinion a real masterpiece (both Destiny related ost)
My all time favorite expansion in Destiny 2 is Forsaken and I really think you would enjoy its soundtrack
Queens Deception is a banger too. It's sinister, it's ethereal...
I hope you will go through Music of the Spheres, the musical prequel for the original Destiny one day. It's very good! I love your reactions 😊🥰
You'd love The Fanatic from the Forsaken soundtrack it's got some awesome in your face ballsy brass parts that I miss hearing in the game
Definitely need to do Queens Oracle
Destiny OST - The Awoken
The Prophecy Dungeon soundtrack (3 tracks) from the game are really unique
You should listen to "a shell of what was" one of my favourite
It's become a running gag that everytime I do anything in the game with friends, I say: "But the music tho". I just really love the Destiny soundtrack
Oh by the way, a little heads up if you are gonna do much more, there are different versions of almost all songs, sometimes slightly, sometimes very changed from before to suit what is happening ingame, like a second boss phase or a chasing encounter going into a running one
i would recommend to listen to the soundtrack called “watchtower” from destiny 2 forsaken. i promise you will not regret listening to it. it’s very intense but in a good way.
"apocalypsis noctis" final fantasy 15 best ost for me
This reminds me of Destiny 2 Season of the plunder music. You should give that a try
People are going to think I'm crazy and I thought my friends were but I see it now. At about 6:12 in the video in the music they always heard the Folgers coffee commercial music "best part of waking up" and I never noticed it until now. Go listen to it and just think about that and you'll notice it. I never heard it in the game because there's a lot going on and I have other sounds all over the place but I heard it here
The end of this track (if I remember correctly) takes straight from another older track called “Be Brave”, and that one is also really good.
The first disciple (wq)
All in (LF)
Tyrant Overthrown (LF)
The man they called Cayde (Forsaken)
Be Brave (D2OST)
Just to name more suggestions :)
Grasp of Avarice is one of my all time Destiny favorites; Try out "Be Brave" and "Payback" from Destiny 2's first OST
I hope you'll get to listen to Brave the Storm or Ad Victoriam from the Rise of Iron soundtracks 😀
Try listening to "The Warmind" it's from all the way back in Destiny 1.
Yes please look at Remembrance next
oneirphobia and first disciple are amazing
oneirophobia is up! first disciple coming soon:)
Love all of these Destiny reactions, would love to see you react to some music from Ark: Survival Evolved, my recommended tracks would be either the main them or The Overseer + Ascension (Combined because they pretty much flow into each other as they play back to back in the game).
I suggest listening to cabal stomp, revive and reload, abberant path, and insurrection, all from the witch queen expansion
DESTINY YAY
Hey, give some praise to the Snares!! Percussion helps with the beat!
Please give some love to Destiny 2: Forsaken's track Keep of Voices (Action), it's my personal favorite in the franchise
should definitely give replicate and security breach a try, some of my favorite OSTs in the entire game
Despite story content for destiny being hit or miss for a long time. The soundtrack has been amazing year after year.
For some context on the dungeon this piece comes from, its all about looting the treasure of a greedy, pretty much, pirate.
With a big section where you're racing down a hillside defusing mines before they blow you up.
love that
You should definitely listen to the Destiny 2 Forsaken soundtrack. Track 9 Watchtower gives me chills
