Poison, one of the greatest glam metal bands. They and Cinderella are no longer mentioned as much as Bon Jovi and Def Leppard, but were incredibly popular in the 80s.
I remember seeing a rock doc about Poison on VH-1. The bassist was asked about criticism the band had received about not being particularly good musicians and that their success was more a result of their image and style than their musicianship. He gave the perfect answer imo, something like " I didn't come to LA to become a virtuoso musician. I came to become a rock star. And that's exactly what I did."
@Shawn D Great for Taylor. So they each set different goals for themselves, had different visons of themselves as successful and achieved them. Kudos to both.

By far one of my all-time favorite bands, ever. Yes, Bret Michaels, Rikki Rockett, Bobby Dall, & CC DEVILLE! The biggest influence on me when I finally decided to learn how to play the guitar. I went and saw David Lee Roth on his Skyscapper tour pack in 1988. Poison opened up promoting there 1st album. Both bands were badass. Poison actually played this song a few weekw before it hit the radio. A friend and I looked at each other after it was over and were like "That was Awesome!" They have a lot of good songs. CC is highly underrated as a guitarist
The height of hairbands. Had a girl I was dating at the time had me take her to a Poison concert. Was very surprised. Great show. Great showmanship and stage presence. Fun show.
Back in the 80's, most guys in my group of friends didn't really listen to Poison, but,The girls did so when we were out cruising,we would park and just blast poison, bon jovi,Jovi, other girl magnet bands.
Just in case you didn't know, "Your Mama Don't Dance" was a cover. The original artist was Loggins & Messina. But I always thought Poison's cover was one of those cover songs that's better than the original. Poison added some...some ENERGY to it that it needed, but was lacking in the original version.
The only time I saw them in concert was during the last leg of them supporting their first album Look what the cat dragged in. They were opening up for David Lee Roth(original Van Halen singer) and his 2nd solo album Skyscraper. They actually played this song and 2 wks later it "came out" on radio! Although there for David Poison put on a hell of a show. Both bands were top notch that evening.❤
Ahhhhh my bedroom was "poison green" I lived and breathed poison as a teen. This is exciting!!! My first rock concert!! My aunt and uncle bought me tickets and took me. I was so embarrassed they wore ear plugs. They were green though so... Brett Michael's, C.C. Deville, Ricky rocket and Bobby Dahl.
I bought this album on cassette when it first came out and played the hell outta it. I was 13 and thought that one day I want to shred like C.C., not look like him, but shred like him. I took a lot of crap from my older brothers for listening to bands like Poison. My brothers called them “pansies” who could not compete with “tough” bands like Judas Priest (their favorite at the time). Well, I guess I got the last laugh! Anyways, I saw Poison in concert in 1990 and again a couple of years ago. C.C. shreds so much better now after becoming clean and I’d love for you to react to Life Goes On because that song shows what C.C. can really do. Funny to think that Slash auditioned for Poison but didn’t wanna join because of their insistence on Slash glamming it up. Slash was like, “F no Man,” and C.C. was like, “Hold my beer.” My favorite Poison songs are Life Goes On, Fallen Angel, Something to Believe In, Cry Tough, I Won’t Forget You, Talk Dirty to Me, Nothin’ But a Good Time, and of course Every Rose Has its Thorn.

Lex you are the bomb! That was Bret Michaels!
Yes Brett Michaels- he did the love show rock of love
That song on radio was KISS, I want to rock and roll all night and party every day.
I blew the speakers out in my 77 Pinto with this song!
Saw Poison open for David Lee Roth back in the late 80’s. Great show
Back in the 80's, most guys in my group of friends didn't really listen to Poison, but,The girls did so when we were out cruising,we would park and just blast poison, bon jovi,Jovi, other girl magnet bands.
Saw Bret live at Rocklahoma in 2018. Still has a great voice
We did have alot of fun in the 80’s!
Slash was like, “F no Man,” and C.C. was like, “Hold my beer.”
My favorite Poison songs are Life Goes On, Fallen Angel, Something to Believe In, Cry Tough, I Won’t Forget You, Talk Dirty to Me, Nothin’ But a Good Time, and of course Every Rose Has its Thorn.
