    if you need inspiration for new videos, I would be interested in a video tutorial on how renew the brake fluid (with or without pressure bleeder). Other interesting ideas: serpentine belt change, brake pads or disc change, rear air suspension bellows change, .. Many thanks for your videos, big fan of your channel.

    Good to see you using axle stands Too many people cut corners and only use the jack to support the car. If you’re doing any jobs which require the car being jacked up, don’t take chances, a jack is not a support

    You should look out for front lower control arm bushings, they fail very often, and if your steering has any lack at all, then change tie rods, not just tie rod ends.

    You're uploads are fantastic, thanks for sharing. Looking for some advice on a small issue I'm having with my 535d f10. There's a consistent hum/low vibration from car when driving above 50mph. Not too intrusive, but enough to annoy me. Sounds almost like a bearing is worn but I don't think that is the fault. I've had the wheels balanced and BMW look at it but they couldn't find an issue (don't have much faith in their assessment anyway). Don't think it's a drivetrain issue as I've put the car in neutral while driving and it's still constant. Almost certain it's from the front wheels. A suspension component or disc issue? Any ideas would be helpful thanks!

      Noises at speed can be a pain - I know. I did a video on this with the Range Rover & it turned out to be the plastic scuttle at the bottom of the windscreen.
      If you think it’s related to the front wheels then I’d jack up the front end, remove the front wheels & use a big pry-bar to check all your suspension & steering joints are solid. I’ll be doing exactly this on the F11 too when I get a dry day soon 👍

      OutdoorGeek flex disc connecting rear drive shaft to differential. See if it has any cracking. And check all your dampener mounts. Look at it yourself. Bmw dealerships are garbage. They want to wait for something to actually break then cause more damage.

      You can quite easy check if your wheel bearings are worn.
      Drive on a flat road at above 50mph so can hear the noise. Turn a bit to left and right. If the sounds gets louder when turning that’s a good indication it’s your wheel bearings. You can also determine on which side. They should wear out equally on both sides but usually one side has worn out just a bit more thus making more noise. Highly recommended to replace them on both sides of cause.

    Hi. Womdering if u could help. I have an E60 530d. It was idling in the driveway and it shut off. Refuses to restart. The code reader says camchain sensor. Is that a broken timing chain or broken sensor?.

      @Nut_Job.  4 роки тому +1

      Arrrrgh.... well it’s tough to know without some further investigation. See my earlier videos where I investigate whether the sensor or chain failed...
      Symptoms of a failed chain are the initial noise (if heard) when it fails, slightly faster cranking speed when trying to start. On the N57 you can use a borescope camera to view the top camshaft sprocket through the camshaft sensor hole - turn the crankshaft pulley on the front of the engine & see if the camshaft sprocket has turned.

    A bit of friendly advice if you didn't already know, you are supposed to lock your air suspension before lifting your vehicle, prevents damage to the air suspension components

    • @Nut_Job.
      @Nut_Job.  4 роки тому

      Ok... I don’t know how to lock the air suspension on this BMW?
      On my Range Rover I know how to lock the air suspension height, but how do I do it on an F11?

      It’s quite an education really. Firstly in understanding how to work on these BMWs, but also more widely in understanding the drawbacks of long term modern diesel ownership. Perhaps I’ll make a video on this stuff...

      I have really enjoyed the videos on the 530. Its interesting to see what state they are in when they leave service. Im guessing it was an ex motorway car as most forces use 330's now for town and country use due to their size. Do you know where it came from. You can apply for its fleet history from the originating force.

    Lovely Jubbly, you might consider buying some knee protection, coz you'll suffer the consequences after scrabbling around on your cars pretty quickly.
