Strong willed children are created. Thrown out of cub scouts. Graduated 4th in his class. Last child. Throw tantrums, step over the child; I'm an authority over you; teenagers that slam the door; Quiet, manipulative kids are powerful too. We create the powerful child. Parents are the power source. Don't give in to their demands. Consequences. The powerful child becomes the powerful adult.... Powerful ppl are controllers. Children obey your parents and now a word to you parents..Permissive parents raise spoiled children who do not respect authority. Talking to kids = influence.
There IS such a thing as a strong-willed child though. It’s a personality type. It doesn’t mean they are naughty or spoiled. They can become that way, but if there can be a “compliant” child, there can be a “strong-willed” child. I have one of each. I know.
I don't agree that "strong-willed kids don't just happen." Being strong-willed is a personality trait they are born with. BUT, you can make it worse by your parenting. Just the same as a compliant child. I know. I have one of each and I can attest to the fact that they were BORN with these very different personalities. If you don't believe this, you will be very frustrated trying to turn your child into something they aren't.
