Just seeing that pitch drop in, and hearing the the silence at Shea Stadium after the punch out, was heart-breaking to see the season end like that.
Any other Mets fans watching this cause we hate our lives?
Yes but i believe that there is still hope for 2015
Victor Lemoine Look good so far
+Devin Stark nah ;)
+Frank Sinatra we are 2-0!
must be devastating right now... sorry for you
Without a doubt, that’s the sickest curveball I’ve ever seen
One of the worst memories of all Mets fans. It's been all downhill ever since.
actually its been downhill ever since they could not come back from that 2007 meltdown
+budkin And it looks like they have returned to their winning ways.
+budkin And now they are in the World Series
+Gameshowboy 92 and they lost it lmao
Wouldn't want Joe Buck to show any emotion here, not like it was a big moment.
To be fair to Joe Buck, had he shown any emotion people would have jumped all over him for being a homer.
That’s actually more than he showed when they won the World Series after that
"I reached back, and I threw the best curveball l’ve ever thrown." - Adam Wainwright. Well, it was a beautiful pitch. But it was a first pitch change up that set it all in motion. Nobody in the building expected that, even Wainwright - that's Yadi for ya!
Great to revisit moments like these. Beautiful!
i never get tired of watching this.... what a curve!!!
Can't even blame Beltran, it was just a beautiful pitch! #metsfan
u kno nothing about baseball if u say u cant blame him. 2 strikes u swing at anything close. i played baseball too and they would preach that. nice pitch but no excuse to not at least swing.
bob the builder that pitch was literally un-hittable. The most Beltran could do with that would be tap it foul.
aviator259 So then tap it foul. How many foul pitches did Mookie hit before sending that dribbler through Buckner's legs? Imagine the narrative: "Well, Shiraldi's stuff was just nasty that night". No it wasn't!! And neither was Wainwright's!
un hittable ? bull shit and he should of fouled it off thats whhat he did for the curve ball right before this for strike 2 and this fuckinh jerkoff stares at strike 3 i fucking hate beltran
u don't stare at strike 3 in that god dam situation they teach u that in fucking lil league
Big Smoke: "ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS HIT THE DAMN BALL, BELTRAN!"
Why are you still hating it was an nasty curve ball and its been eight years move on
still hating ? since when is it ok to not even make attempt hit the ball in that situation i wouldn't care if anything but fucking stare at it happen most likely he would of swung and missed or grounded out but anything would of been better the pitch right be for this one was a curve that was just as nasty but he swung and fouled it off for the 2nd strike
brooklyn jb No he should have swung at that first pitch right right down the middle
Victor Lemoine i agree
Victor Lemoine if u look at the full at bat beltran knows he fucked up with that first fastball that was the pitch to hit
why am I watching this? it destroys a part of me every time. why
Hometown hero from Brunswick Georgia,Adam Wainwright.Went to School with this guy.
Nice man
this was so painful... i have faith though, one day our waiting will pay off!!
That was a nasty pitch
I died watching this from the upper Shea deck
What could have beltran did, that shit was devastating but it's probably the saddest moment in mets history.
yea but really considering they had no Pedro, El Duque or Nady it wasn't as though Mets were 100%. But I do agree, for me other than 2007 it's the most devestating loss for the Mets in the last decade.
i don't know maybe swing the fucking bat he swung at a curve ball and fouled it off for strike 2 and it was just as good of a pitch as the one this asshole stared at
If that’s Cespedes that’s a home run
Part of me died that night.
So much for the Mets bringing back Beltran lmao
The Mets: We... kinda aren't the Knicks!!! 😂😂
I struck out lookin’
-Peter Griffin
Worst feeling ever
What did Beltran think he was gonna get on 0-2 against Wainwright?
We watch because it will be sweet when we do win again.
+centfla Ya'll lost to the Cubs lol.
+Gameshowboy 92 y'all lost to the Cubs? That's meaning in the past with "lost".
Not a fan of either team, but man that pitch was fucking nasty. Just fooled him, that's all. Sucks that it was game 7 of the NLCS.
And the Mets are in the NLCS.
Not nearly as bad as the 2007-2008 chokes. At least after this game, we all thought they were bound to be in playoffs for at least the next two years (and they should have been). Unfortunately, it did not happen and by 2009, the core had gotten old & injury prone.
THIS is the reason I cringe when people say Beltran is best postseason player of all time.
Sucks for you because it is in fact the truth. What you should realize is that without Beltran, the Mets wouldn't have been in that situation
That was a nasty pitch that was just one at bat beltran has gotten some big hits for the cards in the playoffs if the. Mats hqve been able to get back to the playoffs they would have seen
Nice pitch, but people make too big of a deal about it. It's not like Beltran was batting right-handed against one of Doc's curves circa 1985.
Beltran was an elite player for his time with the Mets, but what was the bat doing on your shoulders for this one, with 2 strikes no less?
If you freeze the pitch in flight, as I have done for a forthcoming video about famous called-strike-threes, you'll see how totally out of the zone it looked like it was going to be. The only way Beltran swings at that is if, (a) he's Starlin Castro, or (b) he's sitting curveball.
An 83 win complete underdog beat a heavily fav team on their own turf. No excuses. Mets should have won the WS
The Mets starting pitching was depleted for this series.. Pesto Martinez and Tom Glavin were both on the DO.
+slapshot68 Everything seemed to just come together for the Cards after they entered the postseason. Regular season goes out the window once the postseason begins.
Cardinal Nation this gm they were heavy underdogs, gm 7 on the road against a very powerful mets team
St. Louis out-played the Mets. That's all there is to it.
St. Louis out-played the Mets. That's all there is to it.
Why are we arguing about this it was 9 YEARS ago
This is the moment Beltran decided he needed a system to steal signs.
At least they look pretty good this year. Then again, after what happened the next year in 2007, no Met fan can guarantee anything.
+MetsGiantsRangersKnicksNYSports magic number is 1.
Gameshowboy 92
Oh I know it. Just 1 more win and it's theirs.
Woww :'( Mets
It was clearly a strike
Come on, not even a swing on last out with bases loaded?
Who's here after the Mets hired Beltran as the new manager???
So this pushed Beltran to sign stealing....
How the fuck did the Mets lose this series? 2 years before, the Cardinals had a 105 win team that played like shit in the World Series, and then they get a 83 win team that beats the 2006 Mets? I though no one was capable of beating that team. They were loaded, and the only thing the Cardinals had on their side was luck.
hadmiar8 And Pujols, Molina, Rolen, Edmonds, Wainwright etc...That was a good team that was injured all year and got healthy at the right time.
stoop04
But the Mets were clearly the better team the whole year. Problem is the 2006 Mets, much like the 1988 squad, choked to a team they had handled quite well during the year.
I see what you're saying but that Cardinals team was basically the same team from 2004 so nobody should really be surprised that they won the WS. That Mets team was great too and they just lost a 7 game series.. Happens.
+MetsGiantsRangersKnicksNYSports Glavine, Beltran, Delgado, Wright, Jose Reyes, Cliff Floyd, Paul Lo Duca... Such a stacked team
the Cardinals lineup was loaded with talent and had a solid pitching staff, don't let the 83 wins fool you, it was mostly because of injuries not lack of talent, in the playoffs everyone was back and clicking
Worst postseason ever, Cardinals lost 78 games and they win the WS?
Murphy would of sent the 06 mets to the WS
@Justin yoon lol I'm a dodger fan too too funny
Still funny?
So is anyone upset at this anymore?
I guess so
Carlos BUMtran will NEVER be forgiven! Then Omar Minaya ruined this team with his social experimenting. Minaya wanted a Latino only team. While I have no problem with Latino ballplayers, let them be GOOD ones! Minaya put SOME good ones but also a bunch of STIFFS out there. Give me 9 players of Keith Hernandez's intensity, and I'll say, "Go for it!"
The curve was low
