    Just seeing that pitch drop in, and hearing the the silence at Shea Stadium after the punch out, was heart-breaking to see the season end like that.

    Wouldn't want Joe Buck to show any emotion here, not like it was a big moment.

    "I reached back, and I threw the best curveball l’ve ever thrown." - Adam Wainwright. Well, it was a beautiful pitch. But it was a first pitch change up that set it all in motion. Nobody in the building expected that, even Wainwright - that's Yadi for ya!
    Great to revisit moments like these. Beautiful!

      u kno nothing about baseball if u say u cant blame him. 2 strikes u swing at anything close. i played baseball too and they would preach that. nice pitch but no excuse to not at least swing.

    • @aviator259
      @aviator259 9 років тому +4

      bob the builder that pitch was literally un-hittable. The most Beltran could do with that would be tap it foul.

    • @mysocalledknife07
      @mysocalledknife07 9 років тому

      aviator259 So then tap it foul. How many foul pitches did Mookie hit before sending that dribbler through Buckner's legs? Imagine the narrative: "Well, Shiraldi's stuff was just nasty that night". No it wasn't!! And neither was Wainwright's!

    • @brooklynjb3112
      @brooklynjb3112 9 років тому +1

      un hittable ? bull shit and he should of fouled it off thats whhat he did for the curve ball right before this for strike 2 and this fuckinh jerkoff stares at strike 3 i fucking hate beltran

    • @brooklynjb3112
      @brooklynjb3112 9 років тому +1

      still hating ? since when is it ok to not even make attempt hit the ball in that situation i wouldn't care if anything but fucking stare at it happen most likely he would of swung and missed or grounded out but anything would of been better the pitch right be for this one was a curve that was just as nasty but he swung and fouled it off for the 2nd strike

    • @VictorRodriguez-qn1kz
      @VictorRodriguez-qn1kz 9 років тому +3

      yea but really considering they had no Pedro, El Duque or Nady it wasn't as though Mets were 100%. But I do agree, for me other than 2007 it's the most devestating loss for the Mets in the last decade.

    Not nearly as bad as the 2007-2008 chokes. At least after this game, we all thought they were bound to be in playoffs for at least the next two years (and they should have been). Unfortunately, it did not happen and by 2009, the core had gotten old & injury prone.

  • @KillaKRS1988

    • @AAli220

      That was a nasty pitch that was just one at bat beltran has gotten some big hits for the cards in the playoffs if the. Mats hqve been able to get back to the playoffs they would have seen

  • @mysocalledknife07
    @mysocalledknife07 9 років тому +1

    Nice pitch, but people make too big of a deal about it. It's not like Beltran was batting right-handed against one of Doc's curves circa 1985.
    Beltran was an elite player for his time with the Mets, but what was the bat doing on your shoulders for this one, with 2 strikes no less?

    • @CinemaDemocratica
      @CinemaDemocratica 6 років тому +1

      If you freeze the pitch in flight, as I have done for a forthcoming video about famous called-strike-threes, you'll see how totally out of the zone it looked like it was going to be. The only way Beltran swings at that is if, (a) he's Starlin Castro, or (b) he's sitting curveball.

    How the fuck did the Mets lose this series? 2 years before, the Cardinals had a 105 win team that played like shit in the World Series, and then they get a 83 win team that beats the 2006 Mets? I though no one was capable of beating that team. They were loaded, and the only thing the Cardinals had on their side was luck.

    • @stoop04
      @stoop04 9 років тому +2

      But the Mets were clearly the better team the whole year. Problem is the 2006 Mets, much like the 1988 squad, choked to a team they had handled quite well during the year.

      @stoop04 9 років тому

      I see what you're saying but that Cardinals team was basically the same team from 2004 so nobody should really be surprised that they won the WS. That Mets team was great too and they just lost a 7 game series.. Happens.

    Carlos BUMtran will NEVER be forgiven! Then Omar Minaya ruined this team with his social experimenting. Minaya wanted a Latino only team. While I have no problem with Latino ballplayers, let them be GOOD ones! Minaya put SOME good ones but also a bunch of STIFFS out there. Give me 9 players of Keith Hernandez's intensity, and I'll say, "Go for it!"
