This dude was one of my best friends. I'm not kidding, I've known this dude since last year of middle school, and we hung out weekly and had movie nights with other friends. Rest in peace (I know about who it is because his mom told my mom who told me).
He was one of the smartest people i knew
When i asked him why did he host movie night he said
"Because we didnt hang out enough on the weekends and i thought it would be fun and would give us something to do"
I'll bet that pillar was used regularly for hammocks with no warnings from the college it could be unstable. I'll bet they didn't spend proper amounts on maintenance even while continuing to raise tuition. The college murdered the dude.
The horror of this accident will linger for years on campus; the nightmare for the young man's parents will always be there. Such sorrow and
pain for the college community. No way to understand this sadness. May the injured girls' bodies heal, may their minds try to cope. May the dreams and hopes of this young man live on in his friends and family. peace
Tragic accident, preventable yes. The college students put 3 hammocks on old worn free standing columns. 😞
Nah they will just increase their tuition by 200 percent and tell students to ration can soups before they spend a single dime on education or whatever they teach there.
@@MrBearcatjew make these comments somewhere else. There are plenty of videos where debating the value of a liberal arts education in the comments is appropriate. This is not one of those videos.
@@jayjordi Did i say anything about liberal arts? No, lewis and clark would rather spend money on their campus (besides infrastructure safety), admins, 400 students to one professor, their million dollar dean, than spend an OUNCE on actually educating. Americans need to wake up to the fact that colleges are the greatest class creator in our country.
@@rainbowpandasays8851 The students have probably been doing that for a while, betting the college should've warned them off a while ago and spent proper amounts on maintenance. Betting they didn't do either.
It was pulled down.
Well done KGW News, funny you could not bother to find one file photo of the column, I guess it is too much trouble to do your job.
I want to know why all these news stories are refraining from showing the pillar, not talking to the students about how often the hammocks were tied to the pillars, and not discussing the possibility that the school is responsible.
omg
How much weight did they think it would support ?
thats the problem, they didn't think. Just assumed.
a tragic accident that could have been prevented. Prevented by respecting private property. Play stupid games and win stupid prizes.
They were college students on their college campus merely spending time with their friends. What kind of person makes remarks like this about an accidental death of a teenager?
@@jayjordi one that respects private properties. Cry snowflake.
