I saw your videos for my paper 1 and it went great because of all your recommendations and your example candidate responses. Rewatching paper 2 videos before Monday now. You're an amazing teacher
Would it be a problem if I was to include a subheading beneath The title Leaving Home? My 3 subheadings were "Transitioning to University", "Prepare Emotionally" and "Adapt and thrive".
You would probably want a short intro - on line between your title and 1st subheading. Remember is is not about being wrong or right. Use the devices for a reason - to have an impact. Good Question.
Great work man .Keep it up! ONE QUESTION;What would you suggest to write in extended writing a story , review articles etc .i have a paper tommorow? What is more easier to write comparitively
Hi Michael, Thank you for the motivation. Good Question . This answer has two parts. Firstly the text types we could expect in Paper 2 Q2,3 or4. Traditionally since 2021 You should get a choice of the following: A. Descriptive or Narrative (not both) B. A discursive, argumentative or persuasive text - this could be a Speech, an Article, a podcast or a Blog. C. Traditionally one of the texts is a review, 99% of the time so be prepared for anything. Know your Key conventions, Audience, Purpose and register, also know your structural devices and language devices. ua-cam.com/video/O9GeAfs0gHU/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/kGTDmQSm6_s/v-deo.html Secondly, I am going to be that teacher that says : "All the text types are easy if you have studied" but in truth I always recommend that my students choose the question that they have the most knowledge in. I also suggest transactional texts as not even JK Rowling could write a narrative in 900 words. BUT, let me tell you a little examiner secret - they are more focussed on the effects students create in their writing than content. Just relax, watch your time, and do your best! Good Luck - you will be awesome.
I have a query sir. I am from Pakistan, I gave my English AS level exam recently, and in paper 2 , q 1a we were supposed to write a beginning of a story called 'The voice' where you receive a message from an answerphone, me and many other candidates were confused about the exact meaning of an answerphone, I made a huge blunder and wrote about a call from a telephone instead, although the story was well-written I wanted to ask how many marks would be deducted for this under content and relevance I'm so worried :P . I usually get 12 marks in this specific part.
Hi Mishy, don't worry so much. Your exam is complete and there is nothing that can change by being worried. Answerphones were like voicemail on your mobile phone or a whatsapp voice message. Cambridge is not so worried about the answerphone a call from a telephone would be fine. The examiners will see that it is a common error. I am sure many of my students wouldn't know what an answerphone is either. I last saw one in the 1990's. Relax, don't worry about those things you cannot change. 😀😀😀😀😀😀
