ive had the luck to attend several whitesnake concerts over the years, lets all remember David for the great vocalist he once was!!! in life its tough to admit when your time has passed you by!!!
Great memories. We were three rows from the front between Joel and David, and it was a magnificent evening. The voice may not been what it was but, my God, what a front man / showman. And the rest of the band were stellar too. Great times.
David suffered some kind of vocal injury on 2009. He fully recovered the next year but if you watch and hear carefully the DVD “Live... in the Still of the Night” he was starting to sing rougher as you can notice that in the last three songs performed in that recorded show. It’s a pity, his voice and stage persona were determinant in his success. We have to remember him in his zenith, when he could sing.
Ouch that was painful is vocal surgery and injuries show their true ugly it's time to bow out and retire gracefully, you gave us some awesome songs throughout many years it's okay brother the step away and reap your rewards you deserve it
I saw Whitesnake live a few times in the old days, Coverdale's voice was simply amazing! I have seen many top rock bands over the last 35 years but never heard a singer that was even close to Coverdale.
Teringat vocalis KARAKTER BAND dari Kopo BANDUNG Almarhum IYOS.... Semoga diterima iman Islamnya dan diterima disisi-Nya... Selamat Jalan kang.... 🤲🤲🙏🙏
I thought I heard a touch of a backing track. Coverdale really doesn't have a choice, to be honest. Any emphasis beyond a normal speaking range, his voice just can't do it anymore.
Is there no pride anymore when it comes to money? He knows he sucks ,the band knows he sucks, the promoters know he sucks, yet they sell the tickets and pocket the money. The should all be ashamed of themselves. Same with Bon Jovi.
I hear all the time that KISS uses vocal tapes in their concerts for Paul Stanley to mime to - is this accusation true? I do not know. But I encourage the use of vocal tapes for singers I love to see in concert who cannot sing as they did in their past. So I believe David should use vocal tapes and I would still go to see the band in concert. I wish Paul McCartney would use them too. It would not bother me and if anything it would enhance the concert experience. You see rappers pack stadiums and all they do is bark to backing tracks and the kids don't care. They are thrilled to be at the event.
I saw a video I think from last year that there was another singer singing along with David, I think he should continue that. DC has always been a favorite of mine but a lifetime of smoking(one album back in the 80s or early 90 he thanked Marlboro for giving him his voice) has destroyed the best voice in the business.
I had three operations on my vocal chords after gigging way too many and screeching way too high for a few years… After the last operation I did vocal training which actually helped avoid any permanent damage! Still good today thank goodness!
He's like Joon Bon Jovi, can't sing anymore, fakes it, and lets the audience sing it. It's just too bad because people pay to see them. These guys worked their vocal chords to death for so many years, and they are a muscle, just like other muscles, and they get strained and damaged. I loved Whitesnake and David was just the sexiest guy around. I love watching the video for this song on MTV.
David Coverdale a rock legend although I don't like his attitude towards his fellow band members, in the past has great vocals but he sounds burn't out on this song and in places someone else is singing to cover for him as you can see his vocal mike is away from him and he's not singing or at best miming in places but someone else is singing. In fairness he's only human, it's a singers nightmare if your not well your vocals can burn out especially singing night after night without a break and then it's a torturas gig as you can't hit the notes and I imagine you can't just cancel a stadium gig as there's just too many people your letting down and too much money involved
if coverdale, sang the early whitesnake era, and some musics of restless heart, and into the light albuns, would be much better. This way doesen't work no more for him.
Mick Jagger will be 80 years old next year and still sings all his songs, dances and jumps all over the place for over 2 hours on stage, Coverdale is 10 years younger and can't handle half of his own material even after lowering the pitch of each song...of course Coverdale's songs are vocally more demanding but if you can't sing your songs it's just time to let it go and retire with dignity
Maybe because Jagger is a pop-speaker who NEVER reached a high note rather than a real singer; shouldn't be compared with such a heavy metal badass timeless jewel like this man...
Jagger does what he does and fair play to him. However Coverdale needs to be called out with the nonsense he is up to. Go to 2.57 on the clip. Even DC himself is laughing at himself. ua-cam.com/video/VtyWsXiuVgA/v-deo.html
It's a trend nowadays. Almost every band has a female member now. Weird chick with alternative hair. Just like that useless blue-haired keyboard player from G'n'R. Look at Alice Cooper's band.
Just add him to the list of singers who can no longer keep their gig, unfortunately time catches up with you. Diamond Dave, Vince Neil, Joe Elliot and Ozzy is on auto tune these days.
This is sad, utterly pathetic- Coverdale has been ringing the neck of Whitesnake since 2000ish. He can`t sing, his voice is completely shot, and he knows it. He hides behind the backing singers, and getting the audience to sing the songs for him. I know he had vocal problems in 2009 and had surgery, but I don`t think his voice ever recovered. If you want to hear him at his very best look for the 1980-82 stuff - this is just awful.
This is just the nostalgia cash grabbing that many bands of that era continue to do. Some sound pretty good still, others people are going just to SEE the artists for that nostalgia fix even if they can't really do it anymore. The vocal gymnastics that was DC's game, the human voice tends to not take it well into middle age and beyond. A few have defied it and held on to most of it like Bruce Dickinson or Ronnie James Dio (RIP). It's hard to watch though, someone who was so renowned, helpless to sing his own songs now.
@@SincerityJ I would agree Bruce has lost a bit. The operatic notes and sustain are gone. However, he's an example of that a voice of that era that isn't fully what it originally was, he's still able to do it with what he has. He's not compromised to the point he's whispering like Robert Plant, or shouting, or like Coverdale, letting the backing tracks, band members or audience do the heavy lifting. Bruce still lifts.
They all can't stand not being in the spotlight and usually can't accept that their hey day has passed so they continue on even when vocals aren't what they used to be!
What is going on here? He keeps dropping microphone down, but his recorded voice from the past, when he could still sing, is playing. This is the worst concert I've ever seen! Absolute garbage. Why would anyone pay to see this? He's not hiding behind the back up singers as someone said. They're not singing. It's his recorded voice, you can recognise it for sure.
If you can't do it anymore, quite, think of the people who pay money to see them, the crowd, and the other members of the band are carrying him, just retire!!
So tired of music that just rehashes older better stuff. This to me is a band that is just ripping off\worshipping led zeppelin, acdc, sabbath and other greats of that class. A band made entirely of rock cliches.....yeah I like steve vai but until his recent Hydra video he always just seemed way too involved in the cannon of guitar music rather than focusing on giving us something original, personal and fresh.
ive had the luck to attend several whitesnake concerts over the years, lets all remember David for the great vocalist he once was!!! in life its tough to admit when your time has passed you by!!!
A message for all of us older guys!
Great memories. We were three rows from the front between Joel and David, and it was a magnificent evening. The voice may not been what it was but, my God, what a front man / showman. And the rest of the band were stellar too. Great times.

I agree the voice is not the same at all, not sure why people are saying in these comments that the voice is the same.
So glad I saw the band in the 80s and 90s
when all talk about David im Still Impressed about Tommy that he is still hits hard at 71 with his trusty Yamaha Drums with Paiste cymbals

David. If you are going to lip sync, at least put the microphone near your mouth when the tracked vocals are running.
One of the best songs ever written from one of the best bands ever.
Greats the Guy’s 👋💕And David 🎸🙏
I met the band in an elevator at the Sutton Place Hotel in Toronto during the summer of 1988.
Thanks to Tommy,

Essa música é uma inspiração nos momentos de dificuldade.
You voice David, for me very good.
Fins Madrid ( Spain ).
Bons tempos onde a música tinha letra e arranjo e armonia ...
А на барабанах Алдридж до сих пор?! Ето круто 💪💪💪👍👍👍
David Coverdale will retire, Whitesnake will remain active with Dino as replacement lead singer.
Que música Maravilhosa ...que pena que o Coverdale não tem mais voz (Era uma das mais lindas ) !!! Viva o Rock !!!!
Pois é, 71 anos e nos presenteando com essas músicas...
Keyboardists look rather odd being forced to stand behind those hidden wall contraptions.
At that rate, just hide them back stage. Not a good look.
I saw Whitesnake live a few times in the old days, Coverdale's voice was simply amazing! I have seen many top rock bands over the last 35 years but never heard a singer that was even close to Coverdale.

Give David a break guys, great career
We have a lot to thank David for, and he still has charisma but his voice is shot now. He should bow out gracefully and enjoy his retirement.
What the hell , am I the only that noticed he didn't have the microphone on his mouth in the end of that ?
Bizarre isn't it, can only assume pre-recorded vocals?
It's Dino Jelusic's voice (keyboard on right stage).
I thought I heard a touch of a backing track. Coverdale really doesn't have a choice, to be honest. Any emphasis beyond a normal speaking range, his voice just can't do it anymore.
@@purbolaksono250 What? Dino sounds exactly like the younger Coverdale? Sounds like recordings of DC.
I heard Eric Adam's (Manowar), will be the new singer for whitesnake
To old to being doing this. Though Tommy looks great for being 96.

Intenso...voz sem igual...lenda...
DINO!!!! Good backup!!!
Who is that bass player??
Damn who's the bass player? She's gorgeous
There is a second singer hidden somewhere on stage , between the camps maybe
It's DC's recorded voice from the past
It's Dino Jelusic!

Who is that on bass??

Now time has come, Coverdale should bring in new Vocalist. If he wants to continue w.s..
That solo

I won't go his concerts now
I saw them at Manchester and quite frankly was sh*te..we left after 30 minutes
I'm pretty sure it's not lypsinc
David can not sing any more.
The crowd & the other players sing.
sounds like he has backing tracks or backing vocalists to sing the high notes here...
Backing tracks to sing ALL the notes
Antoher Bon Jovi who should Quit

The stage is strange. They show more like fashion show than rock stage.
I just can't. Painful. I realize he's still making money. There's a point when you can't do it anymore, and knowing your limitations is an asset.
Who is this babe on bass?
Tanya O'calaghan....a free lance musician...a Irish.

Whatever about the comparison, DC is flushing his own legacy down the toilet with this nonsense.
An 80-year-old, who sings, dances, jumps, and performs on stage for over two hours is not a normal 80 year old. Just sayin~
