I have pretty intense OCD. Old clips from How It's Made are my go-to when anxiety turns to insomnia in the wee hours of night, so this video is perfect! Thanks for the years of comforting and enlightening material.

It's crazy how the clips in this video span 13 years, and the oldest ones hold up just as well as the most recent ones. How It's Made had 416 episodes and was putting out great segments from the very beginning to the very end.

Pretty hard to mess up factual presentation of machines. Doesnt take much skill either. What exactly are you praising?

@@dylanmcshane9976 The soothing narration, the upbeat background music, the clear and understandable presentation of enough detail to be informative but not so much detail that the segment feels busy, the quick jokes in the segments...I've seen other shows like "How Do They Do It?" and "Factory Made" try the format, but "How It's Made" really caught lightning in a bottle.

The last product is a mattress made by the Edward McRoskey Mattress Company of San Francisco founded in 1899 and still in business. I don't know if production methods/ownership have changed, however, at one point the company still used equipment that dated from the early part of the twentieth century and the manufacturing process appears to be more labor intensive than other more recognized brands. As an example, the price for a twin mattress from the Classic Collection starts at $3,200.00.
I lived in San Francisco for over twenty five years and walked by what was the factory at 1687 Market Street many times. I recall they had a tiny sample mattress on display in the window on which they placed a corresponding tiny teddy bear. That building, purpose built by Edward McRoskey in 1925, is still standing.

great video! I really enjoyed the behind-the-scenes look at how these products are made. however, I wonder if the focus on "essentials" is a bit overhyped. I feel like sometimes it's more about marketing than actual necessity. What do you think?
