I've one. Bought it in 2007 but not much use due to a divorce and caring for my parents.
But I got it back on the road in 2022 with 4k km on the clock. Its immaculate.

That's me convinced! Now saving up & going to start my shadow biking, need to get my cbt done now then I reckon 1-2 years on the 125 until i move up to the 750. Love all the vids mate, you bring out the best in biking! Excited :)

great review... im actually considering buying one in the near future
but i didnt quite understand it ... is the sound of the exhaust standard or did you add an aftermarket exaust?

Even though its only part one it's a good review, bike looks great :) I've just got rid of my old YBR 125 after having a shit load of problems with it and now I am looking to get a new bike, currently have my eye on a Honda Shadow VT 125. Have always liked cruisers, and for a 125 the Shadow certainly sounds the way a cruiser should in my opinion. I have to ask though what is the bike like on petrol?

Don't leave your bike out in the rain if you can, rain gets in the front shocks, and inside the wheels, and underneath the air box, and starts rusting things out. I took apart my 25 year old bike I bought that people had parked outdoors in the yard, found the front forks full of rain water, the back rims with 1 cm rust all the way around, and the frame rusted under the air box.

Nice. I have a 2007 model (French reg) and notice some detail changes compared to yours - handle bars. under tank, speedo and mirrors. Are these aftermarket? .
Mine easily reaches over 70 mph on the flat - app. 80 on slight downhill.
These do look the business and bigger/better than competition.

Have you had a chance to try Yamaha Dragstar 125?
I am trying to decide between these two and it's really hard - they both seem superb. Would be great to get an opinion from an experienced Shadow owner.

That back rod shouldn't be sized... there are two springs inside that should pop it back out. Take two concrete blocks, cover with 2x8 boards, and old carpet, lift up back of bike and set it on these blocks. Take bolt off right of back axle, pull out, take off back wheel, and the right drum part will just come right off and look inside. Its very simple mechanism, that just presses brake shoes outward into drum. Sounds like a big chore, but not that hard to do to take back wheel off.

I have the same problem with back brake,it's dirt between the leaver and drum, loosen punch bolt and move it a bit and put a bit if grease behind it,problem solved

Saving for this as my first bike at the moment :D how much do these usually cost? Seen a few used for around 1000

If you want your money's worth, fish out for a decent used one at £1500-£2000

You keep saying it won't break and that it is really reliable, but aren't you experiencing mechanical faults at the time of filming?

i, is this bike small for me, i'm 187 cm, 84 kg?

Billy AV AV Hey Billy, I'm 5'9 (176cm) and about 10 stone (63KG) you may, bare in mind that it's a 125 engine in a heavy cruiser frame, personally if i were you, if you get the chance, sit on one or take it a test ride, you will instantly know if its for you or not. If i were you, I would still get one :P

DOES NOT LOOK AS EASY TO TAKE APART as a Honda Rebel. Take it apart and you'll find the design problems, like I did when I took my Rebel entirely part. You get to some parts and you have to say, what were they thinking/???

@impact0r Hello mate, The dragstar is a fantastic bike but in my opinion it has nothing over the Honda. My personal preference is the Shadow and after owning the 125 for 2 years and now the 750 for 3-4 months i wouldn't touch anything else. I saw a Yamaha Virago before i got the shadow and it was in tatters as most of the body work is METAL. the Shadow has plastic side pannels and front and back fenders :D. Plus its a honda. it just RUNS! and Runs and Runs. all the best man check hsocuk.com
