@@screwmuckduck8905 metaphorically, he could have been the same - bitter. if u look closely the way that guy's comments and actions parallels the father's at the beginning...
It is so touching that the father deliberately wanted his last thoughts to be happy memories of his daughter. At the beginning, he seems so distant because he has to work hard to make the money for them, but they takes him away from his daughter where he wants to be. His actions in the film show where his priorities are.
Gong Yoo is the traditional asian dad, especially in Korean society; the gruff, awkward dad that thinks that raising your kids mean that you work hard and provide for them and that's how they show their love. 😅
I will forever think of Nikki crying to baby feet. This movie was a rollercoaster of emotions for everyone who watched movie. Even us grown men shred tears. This was one of the few movies to actually get me this emotional man!
He Also stars in a lot of korean movies, most of them he was the main star and not a supporting character, he plays good with the role mafia boss or a gangster
Same, dude. My little girl is almost 7 and I have a painfully vivid imagination. 😕 Knowing that "zombie deers" (Chronic Wasting Disease) are actually a thing too... um, yeah.
Nikki just sobbing hysterically through the whole thing ruined me more than the movie itself. Thanks for uploading. Hugs to Nikki, cuz she looks like she needs ALL the hugs.
Earlier in the movie the daughter was practicing this song for a play she was in but since her dad wasn't there she didn't sing. So the fact that she's singing the song for her now dead dad and it ends up saving their life is really bittersweet.
Korean film industry is SO under rated. I've been addicted to KDramas since 2011. lol For a while there, it was all I watched. The main character, the actor's name is Gong Yoo, and he is beloved and well respected in Korea. He has starred in some of the best KDramas ever. I first saw him in Coffee Prince, which is a staple in the drama community. But my favorite is Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (aka Goblin). A coworker of mine, had watched and liked a KDrama his wife found and asked me to recommend another. So I told him about Goblin. It was too good. Everything that they've watched after, they're like "Goblin was better" lol. I'm happy to see a lot of comments recommend Netflix's Kingdom. It is a very interesting take on zombies.
Train To Busan is not only a great zombie movie, but also a great movie overall. Wow Such Gaming did a great breakdown of the movie as a whole and how it works as a criticism of modern Korean society. If you enjoyed Train To Busan, you should also check out Kingdom, another Korean zombie series that's on Netflix. It takes the zombie genre and throws it into the era of samurai and emperors.
11:43 Yes, actually this actor is called Ma Dong-seok. He was a trainer of pro wrestler in America before he returned to Korea and started his career of an actor.
The evil selfish business man is supposed to represent who the main character would have become in a decade or two, if he kept neglecting his kid and only caring about his job and himself
"he needs to star in more things" : haha... Ma Dong is in Eternals now.. and he is a fantastic actor albeit a bit type cast in other excellent Korean films
@@alexman378 haha, truth! Although to be fair he's not *always* the coolest cat in the room. Some of his earlier roles like in Deep Trap, he was an absolute scumbag.

Yeah, kingdom TV series are very underrated. It's one of the best zombie TV series of South Korea. Watched it during first Covid-19 pandemic lockdown in our country. I am waiting for season 3 and I hope it's will come soon.
All the actors in here are actually really really famous in Korea, especially the dad protagonist and the dad with the pregnant wife that you guys liked a lot, he is a Korean-american actor. The guy with the girlfriend and the bat in hand, was even the protagonist in the movie Parasite, which won best picture at the oscars this year, first foreign movie to win this award. All the actors are actually amazing.
If the dad hadn’t died then they all would have been shot in the end because she wouldn’t have had reason to sing the song she saved for him in the tunnel. He had to sacrifice himself so he could save his daughter and fulfil his promise to look out for Superdad’s wife. He really did come full circle. I was bawling.
That's a good point... but also when you think about it, the set up of the soldiers deciding upon whether someone is infected or not by trying to view them in a darkened tunnel is a bit stupid.
@@joits true.... But the dark seems to slow down the zombies, so maybe it's strategic to try to contain them in a narrow & dark area, in case of a massive attack
I literally just watched this for the first time today and let me tell you, I am a complete mess! The reactions Nikki had were mine as well! I cried like a baby 🥺
Koreans have a way of making you suffer with the characters. Their film actors are really good at conveying emotions. No shame in crying to this kind of heart-wrenching scenes they put in their films.

Amazing job Steven on keeping everything under 10 minutes! You definitely kept so much of the good action in there and of course the awesome reactions!
Weirdly enough the first time i saw this movie it reminded me of my archeology class. During one course we had to study the skeleton of a child from the ice age. The child was born with a deformity which prevented his brain to develop. He probably couldn't talk, walk or take care of himself. Yet he died at the age of 9 years old. Because people took care of him. They are many stories like this one. Our species didn't survive by abandoning its own. If we are still alive today it's because we are one the best species when it come to collaboration on a large scale. Yet, many post-apocalyptic shows tend to forget this and start to spit some non-senses about survival of the fittest, every man for himself, etc. That's why i love this movie. As soon as as a character start to play individually things go to shit immediately and the characters who end surviving till the end are the ones who understand that collaboration and empathy as the key. This is probably how things would happen in real life if we were confronted to a catastrophe this big.
Yeah,it's really a true masterpiece. It's rlly the best zombie movie i ever watched in my life. It's so sad... And the drama level is so high. Good Job to the actors of that movie. I highly appreciate their hardwork for it. :')
Let's be honest, the writing is incredible, but that ending and the father's death wouldn't have hit so hard without that gut wrenching acting from the little girl and father. Yikes 😢
If they get bitten on the neck the "zombie juice" heads straight for their brain and they turn quickly. If they get bitten on their extremity (a hand) it takes a few minutes for the zombie juice to reach their brain.
I really enjoyed this movie. The zombie genre has been overdone, and that’s an understatement, but this added a really unique twist. Plus, this had the absolute perfect ending.
@@JnEricsonx Hey, believe me, my own reaction wasn’t quite “Nikki-level”-but it was pretty damn close! I’m just glad that I watched this movie in the comfort of my living room by myself, not on camera. 🤣
Zombies are not overdone wtf lol. There's not that much zombie stuff nowadays I wish there was tons more. Now it's all just being edgy and displaying nudity, that's what's overdone.
@alo alo GoT is not a zombie series, therefore I dont give a fuck if they have zombies in them, doesn't count. And I've collected tons of old VHS tapes with old zombie movies and watching everyone I could find and I still can't get enough of them.

I screenshoted this comment.

If they get bitten on the neck the "zombie juice" heads straight for their brain and they turn quickly. If they get bitten on their extremity (a hand) it takes a few minutes for the zombie juice to reach their brain.
