Thanks for this, I love CRT repair videos! Toshiba made some 1702 monitors as well. Those are indicated by 1702T.
I like the "WAVE FROM" diagram at 14:40. Oh Goldstar, you've done it again!
Ha! I never even saw that.
Happy Easter to you and yours, Aaron. Hope the Bunny brought you a hollow chocolate 1804! (Just remember : hollow chocolate has no calories!)
Thanks! To you as well. I remember they used to make chocolate floppy disks. Someone should bring those back.
That is a hell of a collection!
Nicely done, and great job on that monitor. Thanks for sharing
Thanks
I've always liked the look of this model. Must be rare now though.
The cover isn't there to protect the screen, it's to increase the color contrast. it's a great monitor! The one I had as a kid in 1984!
Your repair videos are among the best. I like the furnace noise; it reminds me that you are nice and cozy in San Francisco.
It's been running a lot this winter.
The 'purplish blue' is a PAL thing. In NTSC land it's supposed to be blue.
Cool. A slight adjustment is all I need now
Nice work mate. If you're looking for something to assist fine tuning your CRTs I highly recommend the 240p test suite. It runs on a number of consoles and is well documented. But it looks like you did a pretty good job with just the c64
Thanks! I will check it out. Using the emulator is not perfect, but it'll do in a pinch.
Oh there is a Dreamcast version. I happen to have one sitting behind me. Maybe I will burn a disc and try 240 test suite on the monitor since I still have that out too. Thanks again.
@@RetroHackShack Awesome!
Hi, I Like see your videos, good works, thanks!!
Well done some of the fear is gone! i am an electronics tech but industrial
Thanks
I have both the 1701 and 1702 and they are totally different, the CRTs are different and the chassis are different, the 1701 also has a huge old power supply while the 1702 has a small switching power supply.
There were actually three versions of the CM-141. light brown and dark brown (like yours), silver and dark brown for plus 4, and the beige for 64c.
Those black marks could possibly be from a cable laid on top on the monitor, sometimes the rubber leaches out and stains plastics.
True
Love your channel!
Any suggestions offhand for getting rid of a (mild) moire effect on a 1702? Thankfully it's rarely noticeable but the fact I know it's there bothers me lol. That and it sometimes auto switching to the Commodore (S-)Video's audio channel away from Composite are really the only issues I have with mine
You do not use headlight restoring pads, you use wet and dry 1000 then 1200 then 1500 then you use a buffer with car polish to get the perfect finish for polishing plastics.
Also watch it when cleaning the cabinet with abrasive cleaners as you can remove the colour like I learnt the hard way. Mine has a yellow tint in a spot where I rubbed too hard.
many 1084 models came from GoldStar, as well. Those are identified by their distinct wide bezel.
Nice. So many many manufacturers.
Okay…so I just inherited one of these. I have no idea what I’ve got. It works perfectly, sound and video. It’s the black one you’ve got. I’ve tried checking eBay but can’t find a match. What is something like this worth?
EDIT: want to clarify-I’m not a heartless jerk. This item was in my late grandparents’ garage and was going to be tossed out so I picked it up. I loved my grandparents and did keep some items for sentimental value. I had never seen this before and it was just going to be dumped. I hope this all doesn’t come off the wrong way!
Hi, check out the 240p test suite. If you have a chipped/jailbroken PsOne or Wii you can have all the test patterns you need. Wii is probably better as it has composite, svideo, component and rgb out as well.
Yeah. It's a great tool.
Really great video for this great monitor which matches the 264 line! Enjoyed it very much! The PAL-Version with the Rainbow Logo was the Commodore 1801 (or 180I). It has a more mature design, and the buttons are in the front behind a cover. But very similar to the NTSC Version. Also very hard to find (searched a year) but build very well like yours. I show the monitor on my channel: ua-cam.com/video/jJZfZ476C2w/v-deo.html
Cool. I'll check it out.
i cannot ,. there is is music,. along with the useful, valuable, information that i was excited about,.
You are missing lots of models in your overview - ie: 1703, 1801, etc..
It wasn't meant to cover them all.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrgghhh, the chinese satan pcbway again, you sold your soul dude. But thanks for the monitor web site. I would just toss the plastic cover, looks better.
