    Great tip. A lot of popular UA-cam grooming "specialists" never mention that neck area to be trimmed.

    I started trimming my own neck hair using 2 mirrors (bathroom mirror + handheld) almost a decade ago, and as i got more comfortable with it within a few months, i moved to dry shaving the back of my neck once a week. Now it only takes me about 2-3 minutes to quickly do a thorough dry shaving job before i hop into the shower. Its all about slow and steady experience and eventual dexterity. Even the barbers/hair stylists are fooled into thinking I don't grow any neck hair and comment as such.

    Excellent Michael! That was exactly what i was looking for. Your method is better than I was doing and will help me do a better job. Surgery and bashing your face comments keep your videos "real" love it!
    Question though. Order of things. Sides/back first, then top? Obviously the trimming of the edges is last.

    • @theoneminutebarber
      @theoneminutebarber  3 роки тому +4

      That's the exact order. I always start on the right side and work my way in a horseshoe shape to the left. Then the top, then join it up. Then polish the whole thing up with the edges.
      The mirror I'm the face had to go in there 🤣

  • @dull_boy_274
    @dull_boy_274 11 місяців тому +3

    I would also suggest, from experience, to take a few test runs with the clippers off because it's easy to get mixed up and go left when you mean to go right or worse, go up when you mean to go down.

    • @theoneminutebarber
      @theoneminutebarber  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks Dozer. Yes I normally go just below the t shirt line. It looks cleaner. Not that I'd trim my back 😬 but a haircut looks better in my opinion if there isn't hair sprouting out around it

    • @theoneminutebarber
      @theoneminutebarber  3 роки тому +7

      In my experience this can be the most frustrating part of growing your hair out. Until you have decent length the ears force the hair out in funny directions. I would keep pushing it behind the ear and persevere until it's longer. Any cutting will only set you back

    Advice needed.being bald/balding I use a wet electric head shaver for my head the back of my neck goes red and I get bumps/pimples on the back of my neck I have tried different shave oils,shave creams but always get irritation.any advice to remove the back of neck hair without the irritation?

    • @theoneminutebarber
      @theoneminutebarber  Рік тому +1

      I think you need to cut it longer for a while and let it clear up. It could be I growing hair and it could be metal irritation. It may also be the case that you have a skin condition that need the attention of a dermatologist or trichilogist. But the first step is cut it longer like a .5 guard.

    Wow, been REALLY enjoying your videos - they're my go-to for all things "barbery" (okay, that's probably not a word but... 😋).
    Also, relieved to see I'm not the only one whose face and handheld mirror have collided! Deffo not a painless thing (especially if you do it more than once in a session 🤦😂).
    Actually glad you left that in, it sure gave me an unexpected & much needed burst of laughter (SO relatable!) and it's part of what makes your channel unique and personable. 👏😁👏
    I come for the educational stuff and love the "bonus content"! 😁😁 Keep up the wonderful work, Michael!!
    🌠Wishing you all the best in 2021🌠 from across the pond near Toronto ❄️*brrr*❄️

      Thanks so much Jordan, I am so pleased to hear everytime the channel is of use to a viewer.
      And Toronto is probably my favourite city I've been too. I went late summer when it was about 20°c just a perfect temperature. But the following week I'm sure there was about a meter of snow. I can't imagine how cold it gets for you at this time of year. ☃️

      If you don't mind it short you could always taper it in. Although tapering can be a little tricky yourself.

    I have the same trimmers but every time I cut my neck hair I end up with cuts all over the back of my neck. Any recommendations?

    • @theoneminutebarber
      @theoneminutebarber  2 роки тому +2

      Wes you have an overlap on your blade, so your top (moving) blade needs to be sitting behind the bottom blade.

    • @theoneminutebarber
      @theoneminutebarber  2 роки тому +2

      With the t outliner you need to take the blade off and there are two very small adjuster screws inside, looses them and pull the blade back a little then reassemble.

    • @stefano6002
      @stefano6002 2 місяці тому

      You can also do it with a razor. Just use a small layer of shaving cream so you can see your hairline. Be careful of not cutting too deep into your hairline

      Hi Jon. You could try this method. I'm not sure the length but if it's this short then it can be tapered ua-cam.com/video/IVFeIf-eKyo/v-deo.html

      It's really difficult trimming your own neck hair. Getting my arms behind me whilst also trying to make it clear to the camera is quite tricky. But you are right ideally no hair should go down the neck.
