I ended up with something very similar called a Painthelpers Accubrush. I think it's constructed a little better but same design. It also does not work and was a waste of money. I was so disappointed I never even cleaned the paint off it, just threw it in the corner and learned to cut in the hard way.
In over a decade of painting for a living I've tried dozens of edging tools like this. I've never found one as fast or as clean as doing it freehand with a good brush.
@@randywebb7052 just keep practicing and it'll come to you. I learned by practicing with tape, kinda like bumpers in a bowling alley lol. You'll get the hang of it.
It's actually encouraging, thank you. I started bowling in leaves when I was 8 years old and bold until I was physically simply unable to do so anymore. League averages were routinely right around 201 or 202. I even shot a 299 on my 20th birthday. I'm not even close to 20 anymore LOL
Just watched 3 videos about the accubrush, and they all look great in the demo, I was thinking of buying one as I don't have the best straight arm without the odd shake , plus am right handed with two middle fingers missing due to an accident in the 70's so please can you let me know what is better for cutting in as am half way through just need cutting in to finish. Thanks for your video
Just hand cut corners in. And if you need it super good. Tape caulk the corner, paint it and pull the tape with caulk on it off. Never go into a corner or edge with a wet or full brush. Cut it away from edge at first, then work your way in to corner or edge and make your straight line. Happy painting ALL.
I've been painting for 35 years. I bought the accubrush 15 years ago and I love it. I'm on my 3rd one now. I'm rough on tools. The trick is your final pass needs to be pulled backwards. The brush leave a streak otherwise. I can cut-in an entire house walls to ceiling in a couple hours. 90 degree corners only. I guess it depends on the person using the tool.
They advertise it on my channel too. I saw you in their commercial. I saw you on their commercial. I bought the whole gamut of accessories in 2010. It was $140 at the time. I had used it. I was painting over textured walls. The customer was selling the house. It’s a waste of money of you buy it. If you’re selling it, you’ve already made your million dollar profit after every do it yourselfer has forgotten what they’ve paid for it.
I bought a paint edger a while back and it was terrible. Enjoy smearing the ceiling after getting tired of watching the wheels every dip. Just get good with a mid-high quality brush and you will be faster and have a proper finish
I got my hands on one of these when working for a large painting company a few years ago. I ended up breaking it on purpose to use it as a regular roller as someone had stolen my rollers and had no time to run to the store. They are absolute garbage.
Here's a better idea, go and get one of the "standard" paint edgers, you know, the typical Shur-Line dingus. Get you a ketchup (Condiment) bottle from the dollar store. Fill that sucker with paint. slather that shit on the edge tool like its a hotdog. initially its going to be pretty dry, but it'll load up quicker as you use it. This way you can eliminate having to deal with going back to the paint tray. Some people recommend using a brush to brush the paint into the edge tool, but I find it easier to just straight squirt some paint from the ketchup bottle, slide it a few feet, squirt, slide, squirt slide.. you get the idea. Once you are done, the whole cleanup is throw the ketchup bottle away (there's probably only a few ounces of paint in there left anyways) and throw out the edge tool pad. I've tried the whole cutting in with a brush thing, I don't professionally paint, I'm just here for the DIY stuff. I fucking *HATE* masking, I HATE cutting in. I HATE rolling. doing it my way saved me a TON of time and made far less mess with fewer errors, and it was easier when I could throw the edge tool on a small extendo stick for the ceilings instead of having to lug around a ladder. For the amateur like me, who isn't going to be brushing for the rest of his life, the shur-line will get the job done probably better than dealing with a brush. That's not to say it replaces it though, there's just some spots you need a brush, but it significantly reduces having to whip it out, and it reduces clean-up time. Hell, I handed it to my 9 year old son and he was able to edge the baseboards perfectly.
You can also whiz roll + cut then back whiz if you can handle spreading a ton of paint at once but it might be inconsistent. The easiest and best way for the average job will always be an inch of a paint in a can with a decent quality brush that reduces streaks with a feathered edge. Roll immediately, preferably with a partner so all paint dries together
I have the Accubrush handheld, doesnt have a pole adapter as yours does. They are built cheap but not going to lie, its a game changer for a weekend warrior painter like me but def not a tool for an everyday painter. I can cut in a ceiling in a 15' x 15' room in 30-40 minutes flawlessy with some common sense such as wiping certain areas of the tool down after loading the roller up. People who buy this are like me, not professional painters who cut in everyday. I would highly recommend it to the average home owner
I agree. I have an Accubrush and it does work (with limitations). Like any tool, it takes a bit to learn how to use it properly. Since I don't cut in wall/ceilings for a living it does save me a lot of time and gives me better results. I'm sure a pro wouldn't find it better. The Accubrush also comes with a lot of instructions.
Thank you for this video. I was tempted but i had my doubts since i saw no other products like it. Plus the "special half off price" of $35.. Good thing i found this video.
I use mine all the time. The one you got is for ceilings which don’t work! The other one specifically for trim work work good if you know how to use it
Hey Idaho Painter thanks for helping me enjoy painting and having others enjoy it. How do you start a business from nothing with no knowledge? Im tired of cheap wages.
I have tried different paint pads with the little rollers but never that device. In my experience nothing is better or faster than cutting in with a good brush. My favorite depending on the paint is a Wooster Ultra Pro (usually extra firm) or Wooster Chinex. I like the 2 1/2" angled brush for most cutting in and even flat work.
Just found your channel. I decided along time ago that I’d never buy any of these painting gadgets. From brush holders to corner cutters . Looking fwd to watching some videos to help hone my skills.. Thanks 👍
i was so annoyed a couple years back when you did this on a textured wall. clearly it wouldn't work. I didn't buy one and never will, but just like a lot of people thought it was potentially a good idea. 35 or 70$ is crazy, they're making a killing on this piece of junk
I completely disagree. I bought the basic version with no floating handle it came with 4 extra precision brushes and directions to access You Tube instructional videos. This unit saved me hours of time and worked flawlessly. Clean up was slightly longer after use than a brush. But the time savings was worth it. For the cost of two premium brushes it more than paid for itself.
All I have ever used for edging is a good quality 2.5" angled sash brush and a 4" roller. I put some paint in a 2 gallon pail with a 1 gallon size screen for the roller. I mask/tape trim, but for ceilings, corners just a brush and roller.
I just bought one a week ago. And I threw it away after trying to use it. The metal piece along the edge kept marking up my wall and the brush wouldn't even rotate. Absolute trash. Luckly I only paid $17.00 But It's not worth a penny.
You could also do a terrible painting tools video profiling Purdy extension poles through the years and how every single model they've put out is a dysfunctional piece of junk, unlike their superb brushes.
what do you mean their extension poles are junk? i just block-filled a school-building last month with a 18" nest tray/roller and 8-24' generic (Mr. Longarm?..Menards) extension pole, and the roller cage kept turning on me when trying to apply pressure up high. i had to skip some tight corners under eaves. Only thing i can think to do to combat it next time when i go back to finish the backside next spring is to buy the 'purdy lock' poles with the little knob sticking out to prevent turning. I returned the 8-24' to Menards unscathed, fortunately . what would you suggest before i go and buy the purdy 8-16' pole?
@@Idahopainter ever used monarch trade brushes, big in nz, Australia, best trade brushes around, they tried to push purdy brushes here, but they were rubbish in comparison
I was hoping for this device to be good. I was actually shocked because Family Handyman gave it a great review and demonstrated it in their video. IN THEIR OWN VIDEO it was getting paint all over the trim and they didn't even mention that.
I tried a few edge tools...they work for a few minutes until the paint starts to collect where it should not be(on the other side of the edge)....painting is kind of like weight loss ideas..everyone wants an easy solution and will take a chance on that..but no such thing. I already got dubbed. I purchased it about a year ago never used it you can look at it and see that it's a piece of crap if you are professional painting
I bought it. Used it successful results but you still have to feather outter edge and you have to brush in 3 ways. I think it isnt what they say it is. Have to keep it clean. So literally long cieling cutts or trim cutts but you have to touch em up. Oh be carefull going over drywall compound with primer paints. Cause those wheels make touch ups. I think if you put technology of drywall taping flusher with wheels to the accubrush paint edge roller maybe even have an adapter for a sprayer on to it. Accubrush paint edger cutts em fairly straight but issues on that mini cutt in brush. But it sped up my cutt in time. For long cieling cutts. But im a drywall taper not the professional tradition taught painter. I thunk the accubrush system combined with the emery system with a paint sprayer would be good just so you can zip off long cieling cutts super fast. I see painters spray with cutt in back shield. Can they make a specific tip with a cutt in gaurd an maybe wheels that dont damage walls or fresh board.
Definitely looks like cheap dollar store toy plastic. I remember YEARS ago when I started watching your videos, "rolling dog" send you a bunch of stiff and I actually won one of their brushes from you. 4 months later I seen Rolling Dog brand in my local dollar store. I felt so bad for you spending the money on shipping after that incident. Keep up the great content!
I’ve never seen accu brush use your face to advertise their product. I’ve also used the accu brush and never had an issue. The product in your hands is a knock off
Not sure if anyone else has said this, but this is not the same product that you reviewed before. This is a different brand and it is a cheap Chinese knock off of the AccuBrush system.
All those TV shows selling those kind of " incredible " tools for a cheap price its a signal that it will not work as they showed in the TV.. also other signal of scam its that they give you another free tool if you order in a certain time 😄
Even if this garbage still produced a straight line, you'd end up with framing because you can't load up on paint like you would a brush or thick nap roller. Not only is this a waste of money but that plastic crap pollutes so much of the environment, all so a small group of people can make a few bucks hustling this crap.
In 2014 I didn't buy this unless wisely bought them. In my experience anyone who get bought out they make the product cheaper. I bought the accubrush and it works great. 1st off it does have an extension and I used it to cut in my two story vaulted ceilings. 2nd. It paints a long way and I open the door when I put it in the paint pan to dip it. 3rd they have a DVD they sent on how to use it at the time but also had a website with instructional videos. I just used it 2 weeks ago to cut in a normal height ceiling and it did a great job so maybe this is different although it looks exactly the same. Also accubrush at the time sold extra brushes and rollers. They also gave me extra rollers and brushes with the product. The rollers left no fuzz on the walls and it is super fast. So I don't know, my walls look great!!
Without seeing this video. It's clearly a tool that hasn't and won't pay "the tool salesman" a commission to say its good like the rest of the stuff he sells. Meh, use to religiously watch the first videos before it became a daily infomercial on things to buy.
I knew this video was Bunk as soon as you unwrapped the package, because it is not even the official version. I'm not saying the official version is better because apparently you did a review on it and didn't like that one either. The official version is called Accubrush. Again not a sponsor, but it sure looks like it works pretty good in their infomercial.
The emery edge paint brush edger tool looks. Good. I liked the the accubrush paint edge roller for getting enough paint on the wall with out the cutt in brush an it gets the paint a 8th of inch from exact corner. When i come back an feather the edge i do the cutt in. On the 8th of an inch. But i liked having a pole for the tops. But i think emery edger might be the combo. On big long cieling cutts on long walls it gets the paint close an on thick which sped up my time. I simply feather the oytter edge accumulate paint on brush then using tips of angled brush. Cutt in the 8th of inch. And the plastic ends of the accubrush sleeves come off so you can grab small 3,5/8" length sleeves an put the 2 plastic ends. I think its good long long cieling cutts over like 6 feet. But i think il try that emery paint edger. I like that one. Cut you can go into 3 ways circular cuts more versatile.
Yeah what a joke, I've always used good quality brushes, I know the Idaho painter uses the same methods, I just buy tools from Sherwin that I'm familiar with, Rodda, Benjamin Moore, Kelly Moore, even home depot and Lowe's but I'm very familiar with these products and brushes and rollers and frames and learning to properly use a brush is the best method and has been for the painting industry forever. I know the Idaho painter agrees. It's always good to try different things but this would be embarrassing and I'm glad he showed us this and warned everyone.
I'm surprised you aren't equipped with a good lawyer to fight this level of infringement. It's totally illegal to use someone's likeness to sell a product without legal permission. The fact that the inventor allowed this to happen demonstrates SCAM, SCAM, SCAM. Oddly, over the past several months, I've seen a ton of commercials on this product, or something similar. (Who's paying for these commercials?) The first time I saw the commercial, I laughed. "What idiot would buy this, believing it could work," I asked. Gimmick, gimmick, gimmick. Of course, America is full of idiots, especially lazy ones, so I guess there's a ton of money to be made on something as silly as this. The truth is, there are millions of people out there who can't handle tape products. I never would have believed this until I witnessed one. I had an assistant recently who was a wondrous disaster with a roll of tape in his hand. He simply could not work with tape, no matter how many times I tried to teach him technique. His hands and fingers were SO uncoordinated, the tape roll totally derailed with each and every effort. It became a joke. Everyone quickly learned, don't hand him a roll of tape. So, imagine someone like that needing to paint a straight, clean edge. This product was made for someone like that, probably by someone like that. To each his own.
For a professional painter is easy to say buy good brush and have it done . But for regular folks edging devices can be helpful (not this particular one) but there are cheaper alternatives that will do the job better than brush , they can be found at your local hardware stores. Thank you for your great videos!!

I fell for it and it ….live and learn.
Sorry
Thanks for the video. Great advice. I am getting spammed with an advert for this on Facebook in the UK. I’ll keep using tape. 👍
I knew when I saw that advertisement with you on it , it was some BS. No way a real painter would recommend that piece of trash. LOL
Yep
All those TV shows selling those kind of " incredible " tools for a cheap price its a signal that it will not work as they showed in the TV.. also other signal of scam its that they give you another free tool if you order in a certain time 😄
Thanks for the video. These things are always too good to be true.
I seen this on amazon for £14, same thing but different brand name.
Scam
I got 142 guys and one of them could do an entire house in a day and be home by 5...interior and exterior ...thanks u for for videos
Even if this garbage still produced a straight line, you'd end up with framing because you can't load up on paint like you would a brush or thick nap roller. Not only is this a waste of money but that plastic crap pollutes so much of the environment, all so a small group of people can make a few bucks hustling this crap.
I didn’t need it to do a great job. Just fast. It was horrible. Rollers are out of round. I wouldn’t paint a dog house with it.
Thank you! I get tagged in this on fb. And I seen you on that shoe string budget commercial. I new you would never use it
the metal part will cut your fingers when you wash it
You have a point
What the brand of your accubrush bro
Without seeing this video. It's clearly a tool that hasn't and won't pay "the tool salesman" a commission to say its good like the rest of the stuff he sells. Meh, use to religiously watch the first videos before it became a daily infomercial on things to buy.
Not sure what you point was in both statements
I've been using this product for 120 years with no problems whatsoever
Awesome
@@Idahopainter Yeah should cost $25,000 at least
I knew this video was Bunk as soon as you unwrapped the package, because it is not even the official version. I'm not saying the official version is better because apparently you did a review on it and didn't like that one either. The official version is called Accubrush. Again not a sponsor, but it sure looks like it works pretty good in their infomercial.
You are totally wrong and this product sucks
I’m sure they suck but that’s not the new nice one that’s out. That looks like a cheap knockoff of it.
Yep
Well, you stopped me from being ripped off! Thanks.
Glad to help Dina
Wish I'd seen this before buying one. Feel like a right idiot and I've not even used it yet.
Good point
Sounds like user error with a side of sour grapes
LOL
I'm tuning in from Jamaica, Queens 😂👍!
For a professional painter is easy to say buy good brush and have it done . But for regular folks edging devices can be helpful (not this particular one) but there are cheaper alternatives that will do the job better than brush , they can be found at your local hardware stores.
Thank you for your great videos!!
I used that paint edger it worked pretty good for me.
Not much you don’t know spot on 10/10
Just ordered mine. Can't wait. Thanks for the review 😑
Have fun!
YOU HAVE TO BUY THE SPECIAL PAINT DIPPER FOR JUST AN ADISHIONAL 47.79
LOL
No one will ever use this tool long enough to wear out the little cut in brush. Can buy quite a bit of Frog tape for the cost of this POS.
Great point!
🤣😂 you couldn’t pay me to use that piece of #% nothing like freehand cutting in. 👍 sorry you wasted you money on show this . But you are clearing up your name being used.

👍thanks for the video
No problem 👍
Lmao i got one of those like months ago an laugh the whole time about it but wanna too see an till this day i have not used it 😂😂
Total fraud LOL
Accubrush is the real product. The one you're using is a knockoff.. 😂
That’s why buy one with name brand, don’t be so chip trying to buy the feak ones. Accubrush the best works so good the best, and when making videos like this show using it not just talking about, makes no difference, probably cause if you start using it it will work better than hand painting 😆😎😂😂
Riverdale by Premier.
Awesome brush
"amazing rip off" LOL
And why didn’t you try using it on the video? Seems like every video I watch of yours, it’s very lacking and poorly shot. Disliking and not subrscribing
Have a Happy New Year
