Zedek We had “boosters” in the US, too. In fact, I still have one for digital TV. NTSC had the “fish” pattern, we called it “herringbone”. Unlike PAL, the colors could be bizarre, because they weren’t phase locked. Purple people and blue grass could happen sometimes!
As someone who grew up with Sky Angel and KTV, I can confirm that the animation clip at 10:03 is actually from a cartoon called Ewe Know, A story about a flock of sheep learning to trust their shepherd to protect them from a family of wolves. Dang, I haven't thought about KTV in ages.
I actually own two DVD's of Ewe Know I found in the cheap DVD bin filled with obscure films and cartoons in there from a local grocery store. Also where I found The Man From Button Willow and the 1954 animated adaptation of Animal Farm there too both on little DVD's.
My first impressions of the show and the song "Everything's coming up spring" were like most people's reaction. I found it weird, obscure, and possibly creepy. But after learning the backstory of the show, it paints it all in a new light. I now look at it as an comforting, homemade, wholesome show with lots of charm. Sure, it's not perfect, and by no means are any of the aspects of it refined or even somewhat skilled, but the meaning behind the show is sweet.
Yeah you can tell that the person who made it was self-taught and keep in mind CGI was in it's very infancy in the 90's just look at how even professionally made shows at the time like Reboot that used CGI look a little disturbing today
Whether or not I find that song creepy depends entirely on if it was actually sung by that pedophile. It wasn't confirmed in the video and Im not on the discord.
I remember that 'coming up Spring' song! I used to say 'everything is coming up Spring' and my dad always had to correct me and tell me it was 'everything is coming up roses'. How weird.

you really need to do one on the almost lost film, "Dolly Daisy in Hearts and Flowers" made in 1930. maybe you can find more information? it is one of my favorite stopmotion cartoons as I am a history guru and all I know about the film is that it once had a vitaphone disc that is now lost, and people say that it is a much earlier film possibly made in 1918 and that the vitaphone disc was possibly added in 1930, and released in 1930. it was created by Howard H. Moss, and was partially restored by Mark Kausler who found it in a basement somewhere and was about to deteriorate. He was only able to restore the second part of the film however. I was wondering if maybe you can try finding the rest of the information, such as the first part of the film, and the vitaphone disc that is lost. Please do a video about it! It would be a real treat to hear your thoughts on an old film make either 102 years ago, or 90 years ago.
Id advice to post this on lost media or mystery reddit, they get the ball rolling :) But if you dont want an account for the hellscape of reddit, then you can post it really anywhere Just reddit tends to be better about media mysteries
If it's truly then is not an ARG, just something that somebody made up and coincidentally was true, even a broken clock gives the right time twice a day
Yeah, I liked Everything's Coming Up Spring, too! It's honestly kind of beautiful in an amateurish way. Ella had a great singing voice. God bless her soul.
To me, its because im so used to the cliche of analog horror. When it comes to vhs now, i dont get that comforting feeling. Its the feeling of expecting a distorted, big eyed face jumping at the screen with some unnerving old song playing behind it. Stuff like that just kinda ruins that homey feeling.
I love how these go from “nightmare fuel” to beautiful touching stories about hardworking, honest folks who wish to pass on there beliefs to a new generation.
People on the internet: "Ick look at this creepy video it's so disturbing" Creator's granddaughter: "Oh that was my grandma's pride and joy and such a positive part of my childhood"
The bits with Ella's family reaction with such happiness that someone had found her tapes and work is probably one of the most wholesome things of 2020 and with how this year has gone, we need all the wholesomeness we can get. And that 'Coming Up Spring' song has become so wonderfully cheesy I find myself singing it at times even though we're nearing Fall right now. Here's hoping that we find out more because this is really interesting.
When you posted your original video about this show, I had left a comment talking about my own memories of this show. I grew up in Columbus Ohio and I was little when this show was airing. I spoke about how I vividly remeber the hat episode but part of me was unsure if I was just remembering something else. Seeing this follow up was really cool. It confirmed my belief that I had indeed watched this when I was little. It was on in the morning and I would sit there and watch while my parents got ready for work. I also remeber the Coming Up Spring song and use to hum it a lot when I was younger. Even once I got older I'd sometimes remeber that little tune and wonder where it ever came from. This was a thrilling ride of nostalgia for me, thank you Jorge and the community that peiced this all together. 💚
If what you say is true I'd love to know more about what you recall about the show. I recently joined the discord group searching for this cartoon and anything you recall might be somewhat helpful as to finding more of it.
Boy. I was so little when I had seen it, probably 4 or 5 years old. The memories are vauge other than the actual scenes and songs themselves. My parents had the TV on for me, I was too little to figure out the remote. They were very religious people so if this show were on some sort of Christian network like Jeroge suggested, that would make sense my parents had it on. This was the 90s so there wasn't fancy cable packages and stuff, just the regular handful of channels.....I very vaguely remeber the news coming on before or after the show but, thinking back my parents very likely could have also just switched the channel to the news after the show. Its so odd the way memories work. Seeing these clips from the show quite literally brought a scene of my childhood back into my mind. Its so vivid, the memory of sitting there at the edge of my parents bed, entranced in the TV (I have always been very obsessed with cartoons) and singing or talking along even if I had never seen the episode before. I wish I had more information, I wish I had been just a little older at the time to have better understood what was actually going on (like the channel it was on or the name of the station). Does the discord have access to more clips of the show that Jeorge didn't have in his video? I'm thinking that maybe if I see more clips it'll help jog my memory more. I also plan on reaching out to my mother soon to ask her about it.
I should have added.... if I'm able to join that discord I'd love to. I'm no internet detective at all but I feel my own personal experience, however small, may be helpful to some degree.
it’s really sad how a family member has stolen and likely destroyed something that one has put so much soul, passion and work into. rip to mrs flowers, and i hope her daughter and granddaughter are doing fine
The message from Ms Flower's daughter is so sweet and heartwarming. It's weird how something so nice came out of an investigation for a strange clip from UA-cam.
How I would have loved to meet Ella. She sounds like she was an incredible caring person and really smart too, she definitely knew what she was doing in ways of technology and entertainment. RIP Ella Flowers, may her soul rest easy.
Especially considering she could animate and record in the 90s, that's a really amazing feat. Consider how hard it was to make stuff like her's without extra help or prior knowledge during that time. It really makes you appreciate it more.
This made tear up a bit. Im happy they got in contact with the family. Things like this really help with healing, if that makes sense. Also, f*** that cousin!!!!
After hearing “Everything’s Coming Up In Spring” it triggers my memory when I used to wake up 4:00 AM in a morning and used to drink a milk while watching the bamboo’s in our backyard dancing with the wind while cold winds damped on my skin and on my still-sleepy eyes. It is so random lol.
It's stories like these that make me realize why the Internet may not be so bad. Having Flowers' family talk about how wonderful it is to see her memory live on made me want to cry a little. Media preservation is important for so many reasons, and it makes me so happy that there's such an effort made towards just this purpose.
As someone who just recently lost my mom and whose mom was also an artist, this was such a wholesome and uplifting episode. I'm glad Ms. Flowers's daughter and granddaughter were happy to find how many people really wanted to find their mother/grandmother's lost cartoons that she worked so hard to create and I hope that more was recorded and gets uploaded for them.
@Cherish Xoxo Thank you. I'm glad that she's at peace and no longer in pain and no longer suffering, but I miss her. I know she's always with me, but I wish I could just give her a hug one last time.
I believe the actual term is Amnoia (forgot how you spell it) where basically it causes the mind to feel nostalgia for something that you didn't actually experience. Liminal Space images create the same effect, and to be honest, I feel the same way with this lost series.
Aww, didn't expect the search to end up being so sweet. Seeing how the family members, who saw their mom/grandma make the show firsthand, also wanting the search to succeed so they can see her work and hear her voice again, is actually pretty emotional and wholesome.

10:01 i remember that show. it was on a christian network during my childhood. It was mostly "don't trust strangers" and some christian lessons like "the grass isn't greener on the other side" It was on during the middle to early 2000s on some christian networks in Indiana.
"Everything's coming up spring" feels like it would be such a fun little song your grandma has you sing along to when you're like, 5, if it werent for the warble on the audio.
Unbelievably unimportant detail but I grew up in the south and noticed in 14:42 you captioned it as “you look kind of cute in that red hat” I know for certain she was saying “you look mighty cute in that red hat” a lot of southern people use “mighty” in dialect as an adjective and it was something I instantly noticed
These type of animated shorts that go missing and then found again make me uneasy because you wonder who made it before its information is discoveried they literally get lost in time before someone stumbles upon it This short tho Its actually kinda heart warming tho ngl
Watching these clips while knowing the context, i can hear how passionate Ella was about the show in her voice. It’s sad what happened to the tapes but at least we have small parts of the show to keep her memory alive. Also ‘Everything’s Coming Up Spring’ kinda slaps tbh
I've probably seen thousands of youtube videos in my life and this is always one of my top favorites.. something about this story and the way he tells it. The way it starts kinda eerie and creepy and becomes so heartfelt. This video evokes a kind of sentimental, nostalgic and comforting feeling I rarely find in media. I can't explain why.

The cousin destroying the tapes out of spite hits me in the gut. My mom has a cousin who won't let us have even copies of the photos she has of my grandfather ( her uncle).
He’s said it’s ok to say George at some point, I’m pretty sure there’s even videos where he says it that way in ad reads. I don’t think he really cares all too much
Dude, for like the first year of me watching his videos I thought it was pronounced George and I still think it sounds weird the correct way because I was so used to George.
I really wish this was discovered sooner so Ella Flowers could see this. Wherever you are, Ella, I hope you know your artwork is slowly being saved ♡ from one artist to another♡
Angela's reaction to being shown the clips was so heartwarming. Its so glad to see that her family is so supportive of her work and how much they loved her.
I was just about to comment that 😮 I never watched the show, my grandma didn't allow christian programming in my Jewish household but I remember seeing ads for it at my step dad's house when I was really little

It wasn't confirmed in the video and Im not on the discord.

you really need to do one on the almost lost film, "Dolly Daisy in Hearts and Flowers" made in 1930. maybe you can find more information? it is one of my favorite stopmotion cartoons as I am a history guru and all I know about the film is that it once had a vitaphone disc that is now lost, and people say that it is a much earlier film possibly made in 1918 and that the vitaphone disc was possibly added in 1930, and released in 1930. it was created by Howard H.
Queen Tut Productions me too

Especially considering she could animate and record in the 90s, that's a really amazing feat. Consider how hard it was to make stuff like her's without extra help or prior knowledge during that time. It really makes you appreciate it more.
