- I got to play Minecraft Legends EARLY Grian was invited by mojang to attend a small play session of Minecraft Legends and see what this game is all about.

I was initially confused what this game was when I went to play it, but after a couple of hours I was pleasantly surprised. I recommend an open mind when approaching Minecraft Legends, strategy games are not for everyone but if you do enjoy them, I think you will enjoy Minecraft Legends.

The intro sequence feels like a dream I had when I fell asleep playing Minecraft.
Minecraft: survivor
Minecraft story mode: you don't get to control when you use them but swords, bows, and fishing rods
Minecraft dungeons: almost a you-name-it scenario since it seems to have everything, melee weapons, ranged weapons, and artifacts
Minecraft Legends: you're a summoner
oh my gos the fact that the minecraft legends universe is technically a completely separate universe where they just yoinked some guy playing minecraft to help them defeat piglins is actually so incredibly funny to me
Yah cuz in this universe it's like on peaceful mode. No mobs attacking each other just like the zombie giving a flower to the villager.
This canonically makes Allays from another world then.

The combat in this game (at least with the little golem fellows) reminds me of Mount & Blade: Bannerlords, where you control an army and you yourself can attack the enemy, this game kinda represents the mechanic whilst having that Minecrafty- feel to it!

IDK this seems like more of a regular dimension jump. You're not switching from fantasy to a science fiction or contemporary world and I didn't see anyone get hit by the truck.
The fact that this is co-developed with Blackbird, who have quite a few Homeworld veterans and is the studio currently working on Homeworld 3, gives me a lot more faith in this game's RTS component. I'm really curious how this game will hold up once there are a lot of people playing it.

@@Awesomeflame16 Dungeons seemed like a solid concept on paper. That might have been the problem - the studio they got to do most of the development, Double Eleven, wasn't terribly experienced in making games from scratch. They mostly did a lot of ports. There is a lot you can learn from making ports, but there are also gaps. So that's probably what happened. Neither Mojang nor Double Eleven knew how to make a good dungeon crawler, and when you have a team that knows how to make a good game, but not the specific type of game they're making, the results are often lackluster. You do get lucky sometimes, but it's a gamble under the best of circumstances.
This is precisely why I have a bit more faith in Legends. Blackbird knows how to make an RTS. And while the concept is somewhat ambitious overall, it really sounds like if the RTS PVP is fun to play, the game will be at least alright. So it sounds like they have the right sort of people working on it, the IP meshes well with the concept, and the preview looked pretty good. Fingers crossed.

This looks really cool. Imo it seems to combine Minecraft's open world and exploration with StarCraft II's town building and resource gathering and upgrading. Since those two games are both really high up on my list I think I'm gonna enjoy this when it releases
Really hyped for the game. The devs who work on it also did Homeworld so I have high hopes in general.
Controls like Pikmin, plays like an rts, but feels like Minecraft. A unique game that I hope doesn't become an imbalanced nightmare.

I am personally not usually a fan of Rts games... But I am really impressed that they managed to come up with a completely new and fresh game. Originality in gaming is hard to find now.

I honestly love how the guy is just a regular minecraft player. That bit isn’t animated, it’s just a regular minecraft player acting like a regular minecraft player. I love how he even just did some crouches to accept their request. Just a very typical minecraft player. It’s so familiar to every player.

The presentation of this game is just absolute gold. For an example the scene where the zombie does not attack the villager but gives him a flower.

And it looks so appealing too. Why can't mojang make the default texture look like this? As well as making render distance infinite by decreasing resolution the further the distance. Every game uses it. There's not a reason for mojang implementing it
@@diollinebranderson6553 there are mods for that in java, for some reason mojang has such a bad time with optimization, i mean sodium and mods alike rlly make the game run smoothly. Idk why they didnt implement any of that good stuff yet.

If possible, I'd love to see a full uncut version of the 4v4 match. Even if there's no commentary, it'd give me (an avid RTS player and Minecraft lover) more of how things work ^-^
Real time strategy "rts" is such a good genre that holds a lot of ground in different types of games, that I absolutely like. This style of rts looks so cool, I hope more developers follows minecraft path of creating more unique experiences and become LEGENDS like this.
I'm just glad that it's on Playstation as well, Playstation doesn't have much for RTS games
Hiya Grian! For most of us in the Minecraft Community the Hermits are our League of Legends, there many friends on Empires, those in Limited Life!!! But hearing about your Charity Fund for a school in (Ghana or Guyana?) gave me an idea for a very cool way to help the support to become everyday visual to share in communities around the world. Have stickers made to go on vehicles with character skin images with a school building maybe? But definitely a vehicle sticker with our Minecraft Legends to put on our cars, so people can see we as a community support charities and each other. Thank you for all the fun this year everyone is enjoying Grian!!!

However, seeing you play the pvp made me realise the potential this game has and it looks extremely fun!
The singleplayer also sounds alright, but I'm most excited of the strategy possibilities against players.

kinda reminds me of traditional RPGs,
since most RPGs have a mix of mechanics often with minigames sprinkled throughout,
have a huge amount of attention to detail, from environments, side stories and characters
have a linear story often with side quests along side the main quests
and most importantly. have an ending
a one time experience from start to end, like reading a book... similar to the first trailer I saw for the game XD

cash grabs tend to be things like shovelwear, and shovelwear is often a really low budget game that is outsourced, these games tend to be mobile games now, and they tend to have NOTHING unique about them.
for example, it could be a breakout clone with minecraft blocks.
RPGs do not tend to be shovelwear simply because you need a good budget to produce them. you need writers, character designers, level designers, UI UX designers ..... the list goes on

TBH the PVP element reminds me of the public servers of MC, the game where you start on an island and have to protect a treasure while collecting funds for blocks and items and destroying your opponents treasures

1:30 - Nether portals should always look this cool. Animation of the formation of the portal, particle effects and stuff, and formation of a bit of new terrain around the portal. I'd love to see that in regular Minecraft.

not even ten minutes in and im loving how the voices of the Astral being were so different from what i expected, then seeing how Knowledge had a crafting tables 3 x 3 on top of it's head this game had so much to offer just from the introduction cinematics and as much as i would love to see some of this come into minecraft itself i know that it wont happen obviously due to these being separate dimensions but i hope atleast we get to see some nods to it considering the player was met within minecraft
Looks interesting. I haven’t played Minecraft in a while (I don’t much care for the caves and cliffs updates). I haven’t played the spin offs other than the first season of story mode. This one looks more interesting than dungeons looked.

I noticed that the architecture of the cosmic-like realm was very similar to the architecture of ocean monuments; which is very interesting.
Were those 3 the ones who built the ocean monuments then?
@@ViriyaSP it’s possible. They showed that the 2 worlds are connected in a sense. The ocean monuments may have been portal areas for the cosmic beings.

Attacking their defenses may have not done a lot to your eyes, but it kept them from upgrading their base as much as they could have
I would love to see you play this game again. I am desperate to play this with my friends but convincing them to buy it and bringing up the needed spare time for it is just too hard being a niche in the gaming community. When it was on its way to release, I could not wait for it to finally arrive but playing alone made me quit it after finishing the story and some monthly challenges.

to me, your role was enemy harassment which meant delaying and stopping advancement and production from the enemy.
even if you died, you managed to buy your team a crucial resource, which was time.

after the unimaginative but fairly well done dungeons, it is truly incredible to see this. this is one of the most Imaginative games i've seen in some time, and it seems like it'll have the mojang quality too. so looking forward to this!
When they first spawned mobs I was like “Oh, it’s pikman”, but the longer I watched, the more I felt like this was a something even more unique.
I just want to add that I love how the basis for the nether lore still is in many ways the animations in captain sparklez's channel.

The tutorial world has similiar colour schemes and features to that of the ocean monument. I wonder what other lore this game has to offer.
Yeah, I noticed that too. But if you looked closely some of the blocks in the background were actually prismarine bricks, and the whole design of all of the structures is almost identical. I really hope that in the future they start linking these interdimensional entities with the base game.
Well they have stated that this is a separate universe from the original Minecraft. Any lore this game has in it isn't necessarily going to match up with the lore in the base game. I honestly feel like they are taking liberties and crafting their own story. It will be good for this game, but like Dungeons, the lore seems to be contradictive at times
I hope this game takes off, I would love to play it with some friends.

I never really liked Minecraft growing up and I still don't even now but I absolutely loved Dungeons that it became one of my overall favorite video games so I do have hopes and expectations for Legends now cause of it tbh.
Although I'm not much of a builder or crafter usually so I'm not sure.
