    Taking a trip to Alaska this Summer, could be nice for that! I didn't even think I'd bother packing a drone, but this might be worth getting just for the trip!

    I'm actually quite surprised by the price it's going for considering the complexity and parts on offer, that's pretty neat. It's a very clever design overall, and one I could definitely see me picking up for travel purposes, though, once I get a bit better at landing, the clearance there is a bit tight, solid point on doing it in angle mode or so, and ELRS totally makes it my jam.

    it's interesting seeing how things are cyclic, but comeback more compact and/or better. I remember the times of carbon tubes, and also things wanting to look mavic like. I'm glad there are new designs.

    The sound actually reminds me of the old Hubsan H501s. I remember there being a aftermarket aluminum frame for that quad that folded in a very similar fashion. This things actually pretty neat looking and could definitely find a use in a small day bag when you dont want to lug a big quad around with you.

    I saw this and thought, who needs to have folding legs on a fpv drone. Then, realizing it kinda fits a lot of roles (kinda cinema, kinda lr, kinda docile and fun ripper), thought it was cool but not for me…. Then I saw the price and I want an HD one bad. Knowing your going for a rip and bringing some drones is cool, but to be able to keep this in the car and take a quick flight if you see something cool is indispensable. Kinda what I would do with my DJI spark… Cheap drone that was “good enough” at many things.

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, it's not for everyone but still very useful for some people and some situations. So many people think that only products that are the "best" at everything for everyone should be made and that's the dumbest concept I've ever heard.

    As someone who has been designing FPV folding XClass drones, the problem I’ve discovered is that most standard FPV multi rotors use a “tube and plate” design, carbon fiber tubes and plates. So designing prototype “folding mechanism” with a combination of tubes, plates, and 3D prints adds so much bulk and weight to the design. On an XClass with 25mm arms, I created a 3D printed design that uses a 3mm carbon fiber plate as a safety lock for my folding mechanism and it works well, but just adds so much size to the arms. I integrated the legs into the next iteration of that design, and it definitely hides a lot of that. I’ve been designing molds to start hand laying carbon fiber sheets to create a more polished shape. So we’ll see how that turns out.

    Yeah, I actually like it more than I thought I would. I probably won't go out right away and buy one for myself because I'm not planning on flying anywhere soon, where I would need to pack one in a suitcase, and another reason is; that I still crash a lot. I wouldn't want to crash this one as hard as some of the crashes that I've had. The design is pretty complex and you can see that a lot of thought has gone into the design of this one. I like that they didn't copy the way that other store-bought drone's arms fold, they actually utilized a new design. I'm sure this will sell pretty well to the people that travel with their drones or even just drive to their local park or school to fly, then you also have the people that have to buy something just because it's the newest technology and different from what people are used to seeing. I live on 17 1/2 acres and have a 22-acre field across the street from my house with trees, open space, and hardly any neighbors, so I just fly from my front yard and don't need a folding drone at this time. I do like it though, it's a pretty cool idea. Thanks for sharing.

  • @RPGWoodworking

    the folding concept has always been kind of neat but like i told Tommy on his community build, it's going to introduce some noise/vibration somewhere. his is going to be a freestyle quad whereas this is more of a LR/Cine-type so noise/vibration shouldn't be too much of an issue. not sure i would use it much but would still be a nice piece of kit for the toolbox.

  • @DigitalArtisan77
    @DigitalArtisan77 2 роки тому +1

    Only for the convenience offered, but then the loss in durability being acceptable also means carbon less of a priority and 3D printed designs more viable. So what if you break an arm when you have 10 spares, kind of thing.

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  2 роки тому +1

      The importance of durability is vague at best and I wouldn't assume this will break unless it's a really bad crash.

    • @DigitalArtisan77
      @DigitalArtisan77 2 роки тому

      @@AlbertKimTV I wasn't questioning the durability of this particular craft, but any folding craft, even if only few to choose from now will have sacrificed durability, weight and airframes space for the mechanisms. On the flip side probably breakages will be in the smaller custom but easier to replace parts, such as pin in hinge rather than snapping an arm.
      So actual point is people stick to what's established and until now maximum durability was priority, maybe folders can shift the perspective which will gain 3D printing more value, as again the broken parts, whilst less durable can easily be replaced.
