This car lies on the border between supercar and hypercar. Literally on the fucking border. This thing destroys pretty much anything on the drag strip (excluding hypercars of course) and is a monster on the track. And it's perfectly fine on the road as well. Extremely jealous of those who own one.
Yep, the LT is practically in the hypercar territory (P1, 918 etc.). It actually can be considered a bargain (if you can get your hands on one with it's limited production).
Nate Ksr The car appreciates in value. Limited run. Car is around 330 brand new and spec'd up, going for half a million now if they're spec'd well. Not to mention the performance you get for the cost of the car. I'd take an LT over a 918 any day.
They actually depreciate an incredible amount (except for the F1 and P1). You should look more into McLaren and see how their vehicles are surprisingly unreliable and a maintenance nightmare.
Absolutely, Guido! The 570s is a freak, and an impressively analog experience from a car maker seemingly obsessed with lap times. And it has the best interior McL has ever produced. Thanks for your videos, btw. Can't wait for the next one. :)
He's not driving that same LT. It's hard to make such comparison when cars and conditions are different. The lap time achieved is about where I had it.
This series of videos is among my favourite. It started with the 918/P1 vid which remains a benchmark in removing the BS that had been spewed at the 918, in that it wasn't as good or fast as the P1 and FLF. We all want the truth Jethro - keep it up!
It hit me in this video that Jethro's style is very similar to Chris Harris's style, while I was pondering this he said "mega" and it sealed it for me. Really enjoying his reviews.
I guess we need to put a 918 on Trofeo R Tyres at Anglesey to get some perspective on all this. Otherwise we are simply not comparing like for like. V twisty circuit Anglesey which must negate at least some of the additional power the 918 and P1 have over the 675LT.
What it IS comparing is the two cars as they come from the showroom. A response to your argument could be to give the LT extra power, otherwise we're not comparing like for like, give the LT hybrid tech, etc etc. Trying to equalise the differences could just go on until you have exactly the same car.
Good point except we both know this is not going to happen. Given I know the place I'd like to see what sort of time the 918 can set on extreme rubber against those set by the P1 and LT.
That just shows how amazing the Speciale is. No track tires, or huge wing, or AWD, or AWS, or twin turbo. Just a magnificent engine and chassis. And oldest car here :)
Don't think so. But even if it has such tires it still doesn't have all the advantages the others have. So a great engine, chassis and good tires. No twin turbo, no AWD, no AWS, and no BIG wings. Hey, and NO carbon fiber chassis :)
Sounds great! McLarens never sound this good on camera. Even the P1 usually sounds muted. Clever manipulation of the sound or did McLaren specify a special exhaust for this test I wonder?
The Lotus 3-Eleven is smashing lap records around Europe, include the times set by the 918 Spyder. Are you guys brave enough to take it on your leaderboard challenge?!
Thanks for the review. It was mega in my humble opinion and though I do not know the journos name it was very informative and thoroughly entertaining. One of the better car review channels to say the least.
I know it's not a track car, but i would like to see a turbo S 991.2 on Trofeo R tyres, just for the sheer fun. I think it would put up a fenomenal time.
Aventador SV can replace the F12 if it has to be mid-engined (or rear-engined, cos GT3 RS is on the list and its not going anywhere, since its the best closed top supercar out there)
We all are imagining that fan boy...but as Jethro said, it is not about lap times anymore...it is about fun and best driving exp...and mclaren is on top right now with 570s and 675lt.
Jan Drásal oh of course. Theyre all great drivers cars. I personally prefer the scream of the flat 6 over the tt v8. But this is leaderboard where the times are ths focus. I like driving on track and finding the cars limit
todd lithgow that track is already short and tight... go on a track like Hockenheim GP/ Nürburgring GP and the RS wouldnt see where the LT was going. Not to speak of the Nordschleife xD
People always over look the sizes here. The fronts on LT are smaller then 1's on the normal GT3. Only the rears are the same at 305. RS are even bigger then Corsa's on P1.
.. and people always overlook the weight distribution deciding tire size, the main reason for the wide rears on the GT3/RS is the weight distribution. just saying :)
GT3 and RS weigh similar with all options. 650S coupe and spyder tires uses the same sizes as the lighter LT. 650S spyder is heavier then either GT3. Mclaren likes smaller tires to help the car behave on street and better steering control. Porsche clearly wanted a performance gap between the 2, which would explain the larger tires on RS. The recent test at VIR with C&D had RS around 3150lbs. C&D mentioned the deleted options threw off the balance of the GT3 RS. Drivers reported understeer in the slower corners.
So.... Are we assuming that the owner of a GT3RS, a 911turboS, a 488GTB or 458 speciale can't afford to put down the relatively small amount of money required to buy a set of rims and semi-slicks like the ones this McLaren is delivered with? And how much faster would they be then (than the times reported here)? Yes, track-specialized tires can make one or even several seconds of difference around a track, depending on the track. On Anglesey the difference is almost exactly 1.5s for most cars. So, on normal street tires, the 675LT is about as quick as the discontinued 458 speciale....
It's the reason the super/hypercar debate is meaningless. Weather conditions, tires, and the person will ultimately make laptimes since the agility and acceleration of these cars are so close together. It's probably marketing why manufacturers like Ferrari and Porsche that make million dollar hypercars aren't putting Trofeo Rs on their lower end models is to avoid potential embarrassments.
Damn, The 911 Turbo (991.1 not even the new 991.2) on street Pirelli P Zero's is under one second behind. Please put some sticky tires on that monster and make a video destroying the track purposed vehicles.
Firebrand what I'm saying is, not sure if it's true or not if the car was designed around the trofeo r tyres, it would be just as fast on Michelin pilot sport cup tyres.
The "mighty GT3 RS" was tied by the Turbo S, which you can get for almost $100k less than the RS and half the price of the LT. Turbo S might not sound the best, but it's damn strong pretty much everywhere on road or track.
Turbo S would wipe the floor with the 675LT and the P1 on anything but a perfectly smooth and dry race track. Give them regular roads with different surfaces, non-ideal temps, bumps, camber changes, etc. and no Mclaren out there can live with the 911 Turbo S. Let's not even bring the 918 into the equation because that's just in a whole different universe. The only reason Mclarens are as fast on the track is because of their incredibly aggressive track setup and very aggressive tires which are useless outside of the track.
You just sound like a real butthurt Porsche fan boy and a McLaren hater. Both McLaren and Porsche have ways of making their cars fast. Porsche for example uses 4WD and 4 wheel steering whilst McLaren on the other hand uses Tires, more Aero/Downforce to make their cars faster. Their both brilliant engineering. There's no need for your attacks on McLaren. You're only hurt because the GT3 RS is slower than the LT. And btw the Trofeo Rs on the LT are road legal
Kazuya Jin Yup. No reason to hate on McL. Their cars are amazing, and given enough road, even the Turbo S can't live with the 650S's power band. The Super Series' suspension is also leagues better than Porsche's... and a used 650S can be had for not much more than a new Turbo S...
@Novemdecillion " a used 650S can be had for not much more than a new Turbo S" - that's a double edge sword isn't it? It depends on which side of the trading hands you are on. Actually McLaren, currently, has a bad reputation among collectors. They put out so many models that they dilute the initial value of their vehicles. On the other hand - fuck collectors :)
I'd agree initially with Joe. Turbo S carries around over 400 extra lbs, has less performance oriented tires, and is usable on a level that nearly matches a hot hatch. That ability with the time it got says it's nearly got it all.
Well I'd reckon that the P1 has more to gain going onto a set of tropheo tires than the 675 would. That even if you put them both on the higher spec tire the margin would widen due to the weight and power difference. P1 just had trouble putting power down on the standard tire in track use. Also this circuit doesn't really allow a P1 to really leverage it's massive horsepower numbers in any case because it's mostly just sweeper after sweeper. Less weight on essentially the same platform it's not really surprising. On say the Nürburgring with its huge uphill straights the gap would widen.
There is not a track in the world where P1 is faster than the 918 on the same tires. Whoever is responsible for that 3 second difference on Silverstone can't drive properly.
Yes it absolutely is and why shouldn't it be? Take one look at the stats, the P1 weighs 600 pounds less than a 918. When you get to the price is no thing extreme engineering level that these cars are at weight reigns supreme, and less is always better. It also makes 30 HP more and thanks to being turbo charged a lot more torque besides. Then there is the claimed down-force and CoD advantage. The only tracks on which the 918 will be faster are tracks with tight corner exits where the AWD gives the 918 the advantage. don't get me wrong, the 918 is an incredible car, but I don't think anyone with any depth of engineering knowledge would be at all surprised that the P1 would be significantly faster than the 918 on most open, grand prix style circuits. Also the Trofeo R's are in the same performance segment as the Cup 2's on the 918, DOT compliant R comps.
At 1:06 you can see that it is already falling apart. Fast, but that is simply bad quality or bad design. Same thing happened on Top Gear, in a comparison between a McLaren, Ferrari and Audi. The Ferrari had damage on the underside, the McLarens wheel rims were damaged, all just from driving the things, and the Audi was fine.
So? Stones are present on all roads. If your extremely expensive car has damage like this after a road trip, you would be pissed of. Maybe they should fit a rubber strip on 'sensitive' locations. (I am assuming press cars are not specifically susceptible to road pebbles.)
Really man, better than a P1? Or is it just that you were too scared in a P1 after you ruined the Corsas? 675LT was built taking elements from the P1 so its like a baby P1. Plus the Trofeo R gives it alot more grip.
When watching a British car review I'm always waiting for them to say "It's a proper super/sports car" and he didnt disappoint
Christopher Ovrebo nobody pushes the Maclaren brand like the British journalist.
I've noticed that. Can't blame them I spoze
And its so mega
MEGA
Prope Supe ca
I like the visibility of wing mechanism working thru the mesh on exhaust shots
This car lies on the border between supercar and hypercar. Literally on the fucking border. This thing destroys pretty much anything on the drag strip (excluding hypercars of course) and is a monster on the track. And it's perfectly fine on the road as well. Extremely jealous of those who own one.
Jethro Bovingdon is putting out a real Tiff Needell vibe here and that's a good thing.
One of the best cars money can buy, I don't think there's anything under a million that is actually better. Amazing car.
Yep, the LT is practically in the hypercar territory (P1, 918 etc.). It actually can be considered a bargain (if you can get your hands on one with it's limited production).
JosephM1750 a bargain ? How?
Nate Ksr It gives hypercar performance and pedigree for supercar money.
This and the Spyder are the best non-manual cars I have ever driven. Mind you the 570S is 95% up there on the road and has even nicer steering
Absolutely, Guido! The 570s is a freak, and an impressively analog experience from a car maker seemingly obsessed with lap times. And it has the best interior McL has ever produced. Thanks for your videos, btw. Can't wait for the next one. :)
Agree Guido - this car is the best in class (albeit limited availability). Are you planning to do more videos in English?
where the hell are your videos man? I'm a subscriber but you dont upload anything anymore
Good summary, love your vids also .
Then you must start driving some Ferrari cars. And I'm not talking just about performance. Ferrari cars are not just performance oriented.
Seeing a reviewer have so much fun, was a treat. Great video :-)
Been looking forward to a review from you guys for a while. Great mag.
sounds good for a boosted car
This and the GT3RS seem to be in a league of their own compared to other new supercars.
What is it with this guy? You just can't help but love his videos.
This is far better than the Aventador SV
A leaderboard vid with a McLaren! Sweeet...This machine is so impressive and glad it was compared to the 458. That's a real compliment!
I've literally fallen in love with this car
Did u marry it
Finally a Mclaren with personality. This is car mad, in a very very good way!
Nice to see you again Jethro.. and that 675LT.. its a dream
So nice to see you guys making these videos again! Please make more?
675LT is impressive!
Awesome video and keep up the great work!
I've sceen one of these in white in real life and it's one stunning piece of engineering.
Game on! Can't wait to see what the 488 can do! Well done, Jethro.
I must say the time has been linked. You won't be surprised to see how it did vs LT.

Welcome back EVO!
Strange how in Bangin' Gears the LT wearing Trofeo Rs is barely quicker than the GT3 RS and here it's nearly a second faster on a smaller circuit.
He's not driving that same LT. It's hard to make such comparison when cars and conditions are different.
The lap time achieved is about where I had it.
Jethro was really enjoying this one for sure.
Stunning Jethro!
Ultimate 2 car garage ... GT3 Touring and 675LT ... pure modern drivers cars
Great review! makes me wanna ditch my 488GTB/991 GT2 plans. Mclaren is an impressive car company.
Good to see ya Jethro!!!!
This isn't a long high speed circuit, that's why quite a few less powerful cars are so close in terms of lap time.
Cool video, i agree, that mclaren is insane! The combination of that track and this car makes me want to be there, thanks EVO for the great moment
Jethro how I've missed you!!!! You guys really need to do more content!!! Love the vids, wish could drive and talk like that at the same time. LOL
What a car. McLaren is going to become the standard if they keep coming up with things like these
I wish you would put speedometer so we can see how fast the car is going around corners as well as for curiosity reasons.
Love this video, now I really want the LT
Did you buy one
This series of videos is among my favourite. It started with the 918/P1 vid which remains a benchmark in removing the BS that had been spewed at the 918, in that it wasn't as good or fast as the P1 and FLF. We all want the truth Jethro - keep it up!

Great videos. Keep up the good work. Do you think it would still beat the 911 turbo s if he 911 was fitted with trofaio tires like the 675?
i'm still stunned that the turbo s with normal tyres is just 0.8 off
Welcome Back Evo!
That just shows how amazing the Speciale is. No track tires, or huge wing, or AWD, or AWS, or twin turbo. Just a magnificent engine and chassis. And oldest car here :)
This doesn't show anything about the speciale
There's a 458 speciale on the leaderboard.
Speciale is running Michelin Cup 2`s. They are track tires.
Trofeo R's are much more aggressive than Cup2's
Don't think so. But even if it has such tires it still doesn't have all the advantages the others have. So a great engine, chassis and good tires.
No twin turbo, no AWD, no AWS, and no BIG wings. Hey, and NO carbon fiber chassis :)
Awesome review !!! Great job as usual Jethro
Pirelli Trofeos are now available for the Porsche 918 Spyder; will you do another run?
I highly doubt that due to there issue with Michelin. From what I've seen the P1 will have another go here. P1 GTR has set a time here also.
Great lap
Why does this videos not have at least 300k views? Instead people with "I spec'd orange belts" get those numbers. What's wrong with the world...
where was the microphone placed? why does it sound so good...
Sounds great! McLarens never sound this good on camera. Even the P1 usually sounds muted. Clever manipulation of the sound or did McLaren specify a special exhaust for this test I wonder?
awesome car and review. however i can't be the only one wishing there were a few less sideways cornering shots of it lol.
The Lotus 3-Eleven is smashing lap records around Europe, include the times set by the 918 Spyder. Are you guys brave enough to take it on your leaderboard challenge?!
Jethro "Quite hard to do it one handed"
I have no such trouble :)
Very nice vid, good commentary.
Lovely video, lovely car. Really enjoyed it. Good Job Jethro :)
Thanks for the review. It was mega in my humble opinion and though I do not know the journos name it was very informative and thoroughly entertaining. One of the better car review channels to say the least.
1 person disliked this incredible video - must be an original 12C owner....
That last drift tho! Good review. EVO has been MIA with car reviews lately smh
I wish there are infinity down shift for this car! The down shift Blip just sounds Magnificiant!!
Great to see you Jethro, it's been too long mate!
Yessssssss Jethro is back 👍🏽
I know it's not a track car, but i would like to see a turbo S 991.2 on Trofeo R tyres, just for the sheer fun. I think it would put up a fenomenal time.
you guys should seriously start posting 720p 60 fps vids
Gonna really miss the days that Jethro was still doing video for evo channel...
Is it possible to do a direct comparison with the 650S with Trofeo Tires with the 675LT?
Best closed top supercars: GT3 RS, 570S, F12
Best open top supercars: 675 LT Spider, Huracan Spyder, 488 GTB Spider
*according to me :D
F12 is more of a gt
agreed, but its a mighty mighty thing this F12..
F12 is front engined supercar.
Aventador SV can replace the F12 if it has to be mid-engined (or rear-engined, cos GT3 RS is on the list and its not going anywhere, since its the best closed top supercar out there)
this car is just perfect
Fastest 'supercar' made so far.....anything above is ahypercar.
James Lovett yea mr Jww said that.
Yea and?
Its pretty obv its the fastest supercar....the fastest before it was the 650s.
The new viper acr has beaten it around the track at a few places, also at a quarter of the price with a manual.
I didnt say track time did I? The ACR is a full on racecar....and this is way friggin faster in a line haha
I adore the 675!
Am I the only one bothered by the paint wear aft the front wheel at 1:05?
You guys need to get the Viper ACR on the leaderboard.
Sounds awsome i already wanted to light mine
Is this discount Chris Harris?
Would have to agree... love mine.
Thank you EVO
Incredible car, incredible driving….. just brilliant…..👍
Now put the 918 on Trofeo tyres
crazy that the na gt3rs is within a second of it. yes i am a porsche fan boy....imagine the 991 gt2rs
All depends on the track,a shorter tighter one the rs would keep with the lt,but say on spa,the rs would be miles behind
todd lithgow that track is already short and tight... go on a track like Hockenheim GP/ Nürburgring GP and the RS wouldnt see where the LT was going. Not to speak of the Nordschleife xD
Nhartl206 ive seen rs' keep pace with lt's at the ring
The tires are extraordinary, with normal tires would do mid 1:13 just like the 911 GT3RS
People always over look the sizes here. The fronts on LT are smaller then 1's on the normal GT3. Only the rears are the same at 305. RS are even bigger then Corsa's on P1.

Wish it had a manual like the Viper ACR
Love the comment at 6:36 :)

Imaging how ballistic the 765lt must be
good video
This thing is just on another level and looks so good too! We love it ;-)
Gasoline Culture no, it is ridiculously ugly
McLaren are leading the way in terms of performance!
Damn, The 911 Turbo (991.1 not even the new 991.2) on street Pirelli P Zero's is under one second behind. Please put some sticky tires on that monster and make a video destroying the track purposed vehicles.
trofeil r tyres are doing their job.
What's a trofeil
It's true... McLaren like to build their cars around the tyres, which makes perfect sense.
Firebrand trofeo R tyres will make any car handle better than normal tyres.
Cameron Foster Obviously... but if the car is setup to work around the tyre, that's even better. Why would not settle for anything less?
Firebrand what I'm saying is, not sure if it's true or not if the car was designed around the trofeo r tyres, it would be just as fast on Michelin pilot sport cup tyres.
wait for the speciale version of the 488 ;)
I'm assuming this car is a bit easier to drive than the P1 and its easier to put down the power
The "mighty GT3 RS" was tied by the Turbo S, which you can get for almost $100k less than the RS and half the price of the LT. Turbo S might not sound the best, but it's damn strong pretty much everywhere on road or track.

Actually McLaren, currently, has a bad reputation among collectors. They put out so many models that they dilute the initial value of their vehicles.
On the other hand - fuck collectors :)
Exactly. Purchasing used is an amazing deal, regardless of potential reliability issues.
Did he say that the 675 doesn't have the feedback of a 488 down low? Strange I beg to differ!
GT3RS still the most impressive car on the list
I'd say the Turbo S has the most impressive time, a car that useable being that fast is incredible.
Joe Cribben GT3RS is NA..and has 500hp..most impressive
Sure why not.
I'd agree initially with Joe. Turbo S carries around over 400 extra lbs, has less performance oriented tires, and is usable on a level that nearly matches a hot hatch. That ability with the time it got says it's nearly got it all.
The Turbo S is because the Turbo S did this lap on normal Pzero, the GT3RS did in Cup 2 tires
Wow this makes the P1 look bad

100% agree.....tighter tracks and on street tyres the P1 isnt much faster at all.
john m Can you link me to the source informing your final sentence? Would love to learn more about that. Ta
There is not a track in the world where P1 is faster than the 918 on the same tires. Whoever is responsible for that 3 second difference on Silverstone can't drive properly.

Was it just me, or did Jethro over-cook the penultimate corner on that speed run?
I think this car with locking diffs would be easily as fast as the P1 with Trofeo Rs
*****
Probably, but the 675LT really needs a locking diff to handle that much power to the rear
LOVE!
paint chips already?
can you drag race against tesla model s p100d ?
Electronic Nanny please...
That color though...
At 1:06 you can see that it is already falling apart. Fast, but that is simply bad quality or bad design. Same thing happened on Top Gear, in a comparison between a McLaren, Ferrari and Audi. I'll take one please. Doesn't matter about the colour but if you've got black, then I'll take that.
