I saw my first bald eagle close up in a nearby raptor conservatory. It was about 10 feet away from me, perched.
The thing looked nearly 4ft tall and the way its brows were shaped... It looked like it was ALWAYS angry. Truly a humbling sight.

We do have lots of bald eagles in Manitoba. I’ve been close to them a few times, never been attacked by one. They usually fly off when you get too close. The geese will walk out into traffic and stop cars. And it’s not one or two, it’s dozens. I’ve honked at them with my truck and they’ll attack the truck. I’ve had geese attack me too. They are mean, noisy, and have a 6 ft wing span. So they look intimidating when they charge you. At least they only attack when they are on the ground. Although, sometimes they do drop bombs when flying over top of you.

There was such a goose that put down in my Mother-in-laws' goose yard and just took right over. If you took your eye off it for a minute, it would charge. Moreover, it chose victims that were small and weak, like grandchildren. The thing about putting a canada goose in it's place is to be a bigger more aggressive and ballsy canada goose. I am 6' 5" and my wingspan is enormous. I can't do that with my neck(to the same degree but I practice) but thanks to voice training in my youth, I can be loud, with twang and flop that uvula around that makes a canada goose void it's colon immediately. We reconciled eventually and she was delicious.

I have seen this comedian before on UA-cam with this act. He is VERY funny & does a perfect impression.
I WILL say that we DIDN'T "snooze" when it came to picking our bird day. They are ABSOLUTELY beautiful. They CAN be fierce if treated badly. And (according to Pete Zedlacher), are very courageous & can EVEN TAKE DOWN A JET! 😂 Let's see an American Eagle manage that!
Despite this, I can say that I have now lived "MANY years" & while I have encountered (Canadian) Canada Geese 😁 OFTEN - I have NEVER, EVER had one single bad experience with them.
Like ALL wild creatures you just need to treat them with respect
    - including recognizing their desire for a little personal space & SHOW THEM that you are attempting to give that to them
    - even if you ever decide to give them a little appropriate treat - you should not try to get too close to them.
The WORST experience that I have ever had with Canada Geese (& it has happened a number of times) is that they try to move out of my way - even with young (& I am only a little over 5 feet tall woman.)
    - OR maybe THAT is why I haven't ever had any trouble. They consider me way too tiny to ever be any sort of threat. But no, I give them the benefit of the doubt that they just want to be respected & I give them that.

They don’t even have any real muscle, they are powered by the breast muscles and 'driven' by ultralight tendons that connect the wing bones. The power of the bird is immaterial, if it attacked with its wings, it would basically be attacking to with fans.

I have two flocks of geese that overwinter and nest on the property i take of. They get out of my way as I approach them, and even with young, I’ve never had one hiss or make any kind of display. I’m also surrounded by bald eagles everyday. Bald eagles actually make a pretty feeble sound and are bullied badly by some other birds. We are in the period right now when crows and ravens are making life miserable for the eagles. I live and work on the shorelines of two islands, so get to see the whole battle quite frequently, the corvids will drive the eagles around a kilometre or so from their nests - they'll drive them in any direction, but over the ocean it’s easier to watch the whole thing. Sometimes it’s just one, but often a couple of corvids will chase the eagle, they will swoop at it, collide with it, peck at it etc. because of its size, an eagle cannot manoeuvre as easily. And the corvids aren’t just trying to push the eagles away, they are going for full intimidation.
Vancouver has a website that warns of locations where corvids are attacking people. There is no such database for geese (that I am aware of)

This guy doesn’t know that our animal is not a Goose but a beaver. They always say Americans know nothing about Canada, but apparently neither do some of us.
But then again, it is a possibility that this comedian really needed a goose to be our national animal for the joke, and understood that the Americans would not know the difference anyway. lol
If you feed a deer, it will take the stuff from your hand perhaps by slobbering on it, and you might even feel a bit of teeth, if you feed a squirrel, it will gently pluck the peanuts from your hand.
If you pull a handful of seeds out of a bag to feed a goose, it will absolutely f*cking mug you for all you’ve got. And if there are many geese, it will be a gang mugging. You will literally have geese on top of your head, on your arms. Your bag of seeds will be unceremoniously ripped from your grasp, and you will feel nothing by the end other than VIOLATED. lol.
And just so ya know, we also have bald eagles in Canada, lol.

They are kind of cute and goofy looking, but I find I usually mentally prepare myself for aggressive behaviour on their part. Sure you can just keep your distance and they stay chill right there, but sometimes they are the ones walking up to you. I've never been into a fight with one, but I have been hissed at when walking in a park close by a goose. That being said, I did grow up in the Eastern part of Canada, and they were non-existent there. (Maritime Provinces, by the Atlantic ocean).

I know that they are all watching me as I slowly wade through their numbers. Before I know it they have surrounded me and are all closing in. Do not make eye contact. Slowing my pace, I continue walking with fear similar to watching Hitchcock's the Birds in black and white. I can see the end. The birds are slowly parting and allowing me to walk through. Slowly exiting my temporary captivity, I know not to look back. I must not risk the wrath and horror of an angry flock of Canadian Geese. Should you visit Canada, beware.... That is an accurate description of geese in general. My grandmother owned a couple white geese when i was young, they were better watch dogs than the dog... The candian goose is just bigger, and meaner. And yes i have been attacked by both of them over my life. Unfortunately i live 400 metres from a big lake, so we have thousands of them every summer near my house. Ducks as well, I like those. Our 1$ coin is named after them. Lol

    Canada Goose, not "Canadian Goose."
Also this trope is tired and dumb. Canada Geese live all over North America. Bald eagles live all over North America.
All female geese are aggressive and protective when they are laying eggs and raising young. This is not a "Canada Goose" thing. It's simply a characteristic of all geese. Domestic geese do the same thing. I grew up on a farm. We had geese and they females would attack you if you went near their eggs.
It's not a "nationality" thing and the fact that the comments section will most likely be filled with dumb anecdotes about "how mean the geese in Canada are" is kind of embarrassing.

Impression is bang on. I’ve watched Canada Geese kill other birds that get close to their nests. A very Canadian attitude; they’re cute and friendly until you make them angry. Then they’ll chase you down like the devil himself.

That was hilarious, but the fact is, it’s the loon that is our national bird, not the goose. Apparently our forefathers had some common sense.

The Canada goose is not the national bird of Canada. There is no national bird of Canada. The Royal Canadian Geographical Society chose the Canada Jay as the national bird but this has never been official.

So accurate. Also, never been even threatened by a bald eagle, but those stupid Canadas would stake out territory on my university campus. A square of the sidewalk would have paths worn in the grass on either side, little roofs over entrances would be battlegrounds between drakes, and we all got dancing feet from stepping around the green piles and dodging those arm-breaking attack runs. 😰 Good times.

I was bent over working in my greenhouse with the roof curtains partially open. A thud just behind me was startling. It was a dead Canada Goose. It showed no sign of injury and fortunately it didn't injure me. Very strange.

Amusing, and definitely a good imitation of the birds but the Canada goose is not actually the national bird of Canada. Each province and territory has an official bird (none of them a goose) but there's no official national bird. The Royal Canadian Geographical Society set up a contest to decide on one in 2016 and settled on the gray jay. However, the federal government did not actually name it the national bird of Canada. Having said that, I do think that the Canada goose is part of our identity.

Is that an accurate impression of a Canada goose? It is exactly how our bird sounds and behaves. From her horrible honking cry to that dramatic charging position, Pete has got her down to a T. Our national animal is not the Canada goose, however, it is the industrious and gloriously-pelted beaver. which despite its many skills and attributes is just a giant rodent.

In NB Canada we can see both Eagles, and Canadian geese. I am much more wary of the Geese. Eagles are not interested in people, just fish and smaller animals ( sometimes small pets if you’re not careful) We just leave the geese alone , don’t bug them and give them a wide berth. No one gets hurt.

  • @SnowmanN49

It is a very good impression and he even got the name right. The species is Canada Goose, not Canadian Goose, they don't belong to Canada, they are migratory and just like a lot of Canadians
they spend the harsh winters in Florida. One thing he got wrong though is that he implied that the Canada Goose is our National bird and it is not. Our National bird is the Canada Jay also known as the Grey Jay or Whisky Jack.
