Thanks for this video. Emmet’ band is one of the best small jazz bands. He often has Cyrille Aimee on his shows. She is a great singer. I always enjoy Emmet’s music. God bless you all
Simply divine…… listening again from my Emmet, Kyle, Russell stash…….. to while away the manhattan winter evenings. ….The gorgeous Lou Rawls version going to sing me to sleep later tonight. Many thanks, miss jenny (music theory teacher, Manhatta).
Emmet's solo is very Herbie alike, really amazing with thirds moving up and ending with rich large block chords. And Armand with band are playing with such a Joy. More this ECQ & Feat. X. This is modern new MDQ style. Thanks from Finland 👍👋 Br, Janne (Mr.)
Touch of the Jim Hall here with the recordings I have of him in desperately trying to hear him always seeming lost at the back of the room even when soloing. Are guitarists rather conscious of the intrinsic amplification and over compensate? The grand piano seemed to be rather overwhelming in the audio and even hammered more enthusiastically backing the guitar solo. It did swing along though but the sound balance in performance and recording didn't really do it justice.
Tough bandleader I must say: Emmet must've imposed some cruel but fair discipline on the drummer to get them to cut back a tad on that ride cymbal. They'll be a better musician for it, once those fingers heal up. Notwithstanding the fake beard and Torquemadean cruelty of their leader, these boss cats are going for the doctor in the swingin'-est of fashions. Yeah.
Thanks for this video.

So very excellent!
Almost a year after first seeing this and it’s still one of my favorites.
This should definitely be on the “Selections from Emmet’s Place” double LP….
Still one of my all time favorites. Great playing all around

Awesomeness, just would of liked the guitar a tad louder, but the feel of everyone made up for that.

They’re going so hard they’re gonna swing themselves into bad health!
Niente male its fine però preferisco ancora lo stesso pezzo suonato da George Benson!!
Yeah. Compliment. Real nice.
...but dat cymbal is too loud
Now give yourself a Smile.
What is the worth of a Diamond, if it doesn't Smile.
