Our front door is a massive steel with glass/bars so we can see, but they can't get in. Heavily reinforced, it also has a nearby rifle , hidden but available. All windows cranked and alarmed. Rear doors glass centered but have coatings and are triple thickness, as well as alarmed. Have three decent sized dogs including a pair of English Bulldogs who work as a team. Almost 360 degrees outdoor cameras. Heavily armed in Master Bedroom. It is the best we can do, but appreciate the content of this video!
You’ve really taken security to the next level. Reinforced doors, alarms, and your trusty dogs make for a solid defense. It’s clear you’ve put in serious thought, so keep that peace of mind and stay safe.
Really good tips, especially the one about multiple lights coming on at the same time when someone comes to the door, as well as the spare phone as a camera
I’m glad you found those ideas helpful. It’s all about staying prepared and making the most out of the tools you have at home. Keep thinking ahead, and you’ll always be one step safer.
Sounds like you’ve got a solid plan in place. Reinforcing entry points and making sure everyone in the family understands what to do can make a huge difference in staying safe.
Metal screen door with a locking door handle and a spring lock hook& eye works great. If they break the handle the hook & eye slows them down more so you can slam and lock the main steel door.
Great tip, Claudine! A metal screen door with extra security like a hook and eye is a smart way to slow intruders down and buy yourself time. How have you been doing lately?
No one comes in my house. If a friend is going to come to visit, they call ahead and I meet them outside. If someone does come to my door, I can see them on camera and I will not answer the door, even if I know them. Those are my rules.
When SHTF there will be no power and when there no power, there’s no internet. And the ring doorbell, nest cam or any other thing that needs the internet won’t work. Even if you have back up power. You need to look for WiFi only camera that really don’t need the internet to work. I have a battery backup and as long as my router has power, I can see everything on my camera from a tablet or phone. “ Stand Alone WiFi “ I even have the SSID hidden, no one can see it broadcasting. Run your test on your system now, to see if your system will run fine without internet. Find out now when you can fix it and not during an emergency. I couldn’t tell you how many times I ran my own grid down situation, to see what works and what don’t. Shoot! I did that so much that one father’s day my kids gave me a card that said this “ Happy Father’s Day, we love you so much Dad. But can you please stop playing with the electricity. “ the ungrateful people 😤 Yea that’s my life. 😂 But yes, run your test now and see what works. Stay Safe & Be Ready
You’re absolutely right. It’s one thing to assume your gear will work when the grid goes down, but it’s another to actually test it. Checking that your cameras run on standalone WiFi and making sure your backup power solutions hold up without internet is time well spent. Love the Father’s Day card story-it shows how dedicated you are to being ready. Thanks for sharing your experience and reminding everyone to test their systems now, not later. Stay safe out there!
Thank you for sharing this is an important topic most people don't know on how to act to strangers who knock on the door. I have a peep hole in my door wich is really nice. And i agree to be behind the door and not in front of it if you have a door chain but i don´t have a door chain on my apartment door and my door open outwards so that will be trickier to be behind the door. So that means you need to use another kind of tactic instead. I have shared this video out and a 👍as usual.
You’re right, different door setups call for different tactics. If your door opens outward, finding an alternative approach is key. A camera, a security bar, or even just talking through a closed, locked door can give you an edge. Thanks for sharing the video and for the thumbs up. Stay safe out there.
One thing you could think about doing to deter anyone from breaking in is simply having some kind of light on in the house like perhaps in a upstairs bedroom. Think about it like this, if all the lights are off in the house that means the house is either empty or the occupants are asleep. But if there's a light on upstairs that means someone must be awake and active so breaking in might not be a good idea.
hey Dutch, hope you've been doing welll. That's a smart and simple deterrent! A lit room definitely makes a house look occupied, which could make a potential intruder think twice. Thanks for sharing the tip-sometimes the easiest solutions are the most effective!
That gave me a good laugh! While it’s fun to imagine, just remember to stay within the bounds of the law and protect yourself responsibly. A little caution goes a long way.
We have all the necessary stuff plus a little surprise for someone who gets in when we're gone. Either way if your not invited it won't go well for that individual.
Sounds like you’ve got things locked down tight! That little surprise sounds like a solid deterrent-sometimes it’s about sending the right message. Thanks for sharing your setup!
If grid goes down those door cameras won't work.motion lights that work on batteries is what I have.get a dog.he will let you know when someone is snooping around.put Christmas bells on windows and doors.get Ammo now.dont let anyone in your house even neighbors.they will see your preps.they will tell.
Hey Lisa, you’ve got some solid ideas there! Battery-powered motion lights are super practical, and a dog is definitely one of the best early warning systems you can have. I love the Christmas bells tip-that’s such a simple but effective touch. And yeah, keeping your preps under wraps is key. Thanks for sharing these! You’ve got the right mindset for staying safe.
You’re absolutely right-at the door is way too close! Hopefully, everyone has a plan in place to avoid that kind of situation. How have you been doing lately?

You sound like us here in Idaho Falls! Great job.

Great reminder. Let us hope more people listen with an open mind and actually act. Dustin, great growth. Congrats.
Hey Gary, it's been a whirlwind for me the pst month or so. Hope you've been doing alright buddy.? seen any drones over Idaho?, lol
@reliableprepper No drones that I have seen.
Reinforced doors, cameras, guns and a guard dog. Kids know the drill.
Sounds like you’ve got a solid plan in place. Reinforcing entry points and making sure everyone in the family understands what to do can make a huge difference in staying safe.
@reliableprepper Indeed. I appreciate the time and effort, as well as the content on your channel. Thank you very much.

One hand behind back hold your favorite tiny boom stick? NO?

Keep up the good work
Thanks for the encouragement, it means a lot. I’ll keep doing my best to deliver useful content.

Have a long driveway with two locked gates.

hey you
@reliableprepper halo,how goes it?
Everybody is the Enemy, get a dog
Having a good dog is definitely a solid step for security-and loyal company too. Do you have one yourself?
