There is far too much of that going on in Western Culture. If you want to buy a ProLine engine you can. The question is will you make the investment back if you do so. If you believe you will, there is more ways than just plunking down $50,000 cash (not including turbos/supercharger, ignition system, fuel system and engine control system. Other companies had hemispherical heads even some 4 cyl engines .Chrysler registered and made the HEMI name synonymous with them.
      NHRA today everyone uses a Chrysler HEMI based on the 1960's Mopar Big Block 426 HEMI...Chrysler even had a Wedge 426!! Nowadays when the bottom end lets go CSI couldn’t find half the pieces of the block never mind any parts that used to be inside the engine.1400-1500 HP per cylinder when it miss fires doesn’t leave behind a whole lot reusable parts.

      Hemi makes more power. That’s nothing new. The ability to apply that power and the spread of power is why people chose the 481x. It’s less expensive and can make 90-95% of the same power.

      I agree 100%....The hemi head allows you to make more cylinder pressure, and you are firing the mixture from the center of the hole...it's just a better design for an internal combustion engine...Thanks to Tom Hoover ! I've built and worked on Top Fuel Hemi's ...Too bad they have to be so expensive..!

    The really crazy thing for all you Lotto dollar winner who buy ProLine motors maybe some of you can remember back when a guy named Spiro Pappas ran his steel body steel cowl 69 Camaro with his 430 inch Big block from Fast Times with one Turbo to a 6.72 218 MPH 1/4 mile rolling on a 10.5 tire and did that round after round with Billet nothing and 1/10 the budget .. So while all that Bling is real pretty .. it's really just Bling for guys with more cash than ability ..sorry but I've seen this so many times before ...

      I grew up old school. I remember the tech that was around in the 60s and moving forward. Back then 400 to 600hp was fairly easy to obtain but 800-1000hp was not . When 1000hp started showing it was big dollars and it still is. It’s the old saying “ hp dosent come cheap and if you want to play you have to pay. I’m a big of old school engines, old school tech but the simple fact is that the tech that’s out there now for making big HP absolutely burys old school across the board and on top of it ,it’s reliable kinda of sorta. For example, look at the power and reliability that’s out there now, dodge,ford, GM are all offering engines capable of making 700- 800hp easily and they are offering 3 year warranties. I agree with what your saying , I understand the argument and as hard as it is to admit it, new tech ain’t no different than old tech when it comes to dollars, you get what you pay for and the stuff that is out there absolutely puts old school tech to sleep. I’m just sayin…

      @Rick Johnson 1000 hp is nothing these days and certainly doesn't take big bucks to achieve. I'm also old school to the point that as 12 year old, I got to work with Dick Landy in his pit fetching tools back when those cars were running times that are considered slow by today's standards. No one could've imagined that we'd have cars with air conditioning running sub 10 second 1/4 mile times.

      @@danmyers9372 BBC with Chrysler wedge heads on it almost similar to the BBC SEMI HEMI which is a BBC with either a 5.0 or 5.300in bore space with Hemi heads on it the main difference is if you look at the front of the block where the timing chain normally is you can see that the Hemi and the 481-X runs pretty much the same distributor location in the front timing cover on a 45 degree angle where as a stock BBC runs a distributor in the back same as the SBC at a straight up angle on the top of the back of the cam and most of your Fords run the distributor in the front of the cam at a straight up angle unless you run VVT and just have the distributor housing sitting up front and a camshaft lock out to plug the factory hole in the intake and if I'm not mistaken you can run coil on plug that way too but you don't have to

    • @toddjohnson7133
      @toddjohnson7133 4 роки тому +15

      Not really based on any single OEM block or head design. It just employs a lot of ideas that work. It has a deeply skirted block like a Chrysler Hemi. The cam location in the block appears to be higher than most wedge head engines. The heads look like the Warren Johnson era Oldsmobile prostock units that were based on the TFS big block Ford. When you see these in Camaro it seems the owner wants to try to pass it off as a BBC but the fact is that the intake ports are not Siamese is a dead give away that it is not a BBC. In the end i would say the block is Chrysler hemi inspired and the heads were Olds/Ford inspired. No BBC though.
