A police officer cited as a PW in criminal case and examined as such. During his chief exam he says that one of the accused made a statement (161 crpc) before him. In cross, he says that he knows this particular accused only and not others (probably because he said in chief that the statement was made before him). Now in cross he is asked whether that accused is present in court or not? He says that accused is not present in the court. Now the advocate conducting the cross is the one who is that accused (FIR and other proceedings against this accused/advocate already quashed by HC). This clearly shows that the police officer is lying. This fact was also brought to the notice of the court immediately but no note of it was made by the court neither any action taken against the police officer concerned. What should be done? Wait for the argument stage or anything else?

Hey. It must have been a slip. Leading ques are definitely allowed in Cross, though not in Chief.
We can be that flexible with humans, we guess?
Leading questions may be asked in cross examination. See section 141,142 iea1872

What is the maximum duration a cross can be continued in a court. Can it be more than 2 yrs
Hey. There is no fixed duration as such. It is the discretion of the Court.
Court is also not safest environment
