Very glad to see Misþyrming (which is one of the bands I respect the most) featured in this kind of conversations, this is the second video “interview” with this artist, so, good job!
PD: I forgot to comment on Andavald (I heard their album when it was released), and D.G is totally right about it, truly mind melting stuff that must be heard to be trusted.

Sir, have to say, I've been listening to your podcast for quite some time, ("through the shadows" haha), and every time you are raising the bar with your interviews/podcasts!
My favorites episodes are the ones with Naas Alcameth (Akhlys is so fucking good haha), Jackie from Into The Necrosphere (another great metal podcast), Kyle Nesbitt from Ninkharsag (their album from 2021 was one of my favorites from that year, really a massive release) and now this one with D.G.
D.G. sounds like a very wise dude, and a passionate artist for his craft.
To be honest, "Með hamri" didn't click with me for the first few listens, but now the album is growing on me. Especially that initial riff on the second track (Með harmi), it keeps returning to my head every once in a while haha Much like the album "Deiform" from Funeral Mist, which was another masterpiece.
Maybe we can dream with a podcast featuring the guys from Marduk or Mgła? Haha
I'll try to be more active with the comments, but my English skills are not to good, hence why only now I comment something hahaha
Keep up the good work Shayan!

      Massively appreciated!
Agreed with much of said here as well.
Ps. Those would be bucket list guests, but as we know, they don't do these types of appearances often, if at all...
Still, maybe one day - never say never!

Cataleptic Rites was such a fantastic event. Misthyrming, Svartidaudi and Andavald are easily 3 of the most unique and important artists in contemporary Black Metal who keep the old school flame alive without need of gimmick. Seeing all with many other great artists was so special. Drottinn ruled too, still love that cassette. Fantastic interview.

I've always listened to these Icelandic BM bands, but this is the first time I've watched an interview with one of the key figures behind the scene. I really enjoyed this interview and getting to know the man behind so many great bands.

I've been following Misþyrming since they started as well, and I think this new album is hands down his best. Was very excited to see you have him on here, really great conversation about a lot of great stuff. As a musician I really dig the more in depth musical elements of the conversation here. And definitely check out Arizmenda very cool project.

    Realy enjoyed this conversation!
D.G. seems like a very down to earth person and not affraid to show it. It makes for a much more interesting talk and more people can relate.

Quite interesting talk, Misþyrming and Carpe Noctem are my favourite black metal bands from Iceand. Islandic black metal often has this apocalyptic, dark, dissonant and epic feeling.
Með hamri was the surprise release at the end of 2022 and it became an album of the year for me, like Funeral Mist did at the end of 2021 with Deiform.

Great Interview, very interesting. I just have to disappoint DGs fantasy, the Aztecs had no horses. Those were introduced by the spaniards, one of the reasons the Aztecs didn't prevail...

Interesting - I'd assume that the main reason why both of us had this impression, was because of the video that we were talking about, which simulates the coming of a large cavalry who are using the death whistles in unison.

I believe the video is called "DEATH WHISTLE" and is still up on this channel called:
      Mileán Ó Raghallaigh

@@iblismanifestations231 thx for naming the video! I knew that death whistles from my studies and it indeed sounds frightening, even more so played by dozens in unison. The whistling guy himself obviously doesn't mention horses, but even in a classic battlefield situation of footsoldiers it must have been pretty effective to intimidate. It's just funny yet understandable that many people picture Native Americans on horsebacks even though there were no horses at all in America before the Europeans arrived. Keep up your good work, I follow your channel since the hilarious interview with Björn/Afgrundsprofet...
