    My grip fails after 15-30 seconds at most.. and I've tried strengthening it so I can last a full minute for months now. What am I doing wrong? What should I do to strengthen my grip? I'm very active due to my job and it gets frustrating at times

    • @moversodyssey

      It's hard to say what your individual issue is without seeing it, but here are the most common. First is just too much body weight. If you carry a lot of body fat it could be that your just too heavy for your own grip. Next is overtraining, especially if you work with your hands a lot already, they may just need a week off to bounce back. I also see a lot of thoracic outlet syndrome in people with really tight shoulders or forward head posture, that can cause nerve impingement in the neck and shoulder which will weaken the grip. Some self massage of the pecs, shoulder and biceps along with some neck stretches would likely clear that up if that's the issue. Or you may just need to do extra grip strengthening, you could get hand held grip trainers off amazon real cheap or start rice bucket training. Hope this helps out, best of luck

      I went from 15 to 45 secs in 2 weeks. Just hang for your Max for 4 sets every other day . Also when you think your hand is gonna start slipping. Think about crushing the bar and grip as hard as you can

      Grip strength can be trained. It take patience and time. And probably some callus . Frankly grip strength that isn’t trained can’t be maintained and this is frustrating even u manage to increase from 20 sec to 60 sec and once u stop training u deteriorate back to 20 sec if not trained

      It all depends on your specific shoulder issues. Anyone with an AC joint injury or a real tight subclavius muscle can certainly feel pain doing this. You can try a subclavius trigger point self massage and try the hang again and see if anything works better.

    Can this help with shoulder tendonitis?

    • @moversodyssey
      @moversodyssey  7 місяців тому +1

      It can be different with each unique case, but in general this tends to be helpful. Most shoulder tendonitis is in the bicep tendons or anterior delt tendons, both of which often come from forward shoulder posture, and these hangs can help a lot with that.

    How do I fix lower back pain?

    • @moversodyssey
      @moversodyssey  9 місяців тому +3

      Depends on what's causing it. Two most common reason I see are anterior pelvic tilt which causes pain in the low back, usually right on the spine. In which case you need to start stretching out the quads and strengthening the glutes and abs. Or it could be S.I. pain which is at the base of the spine, right on top of the pelvis, sometimes just to one side. Thats usually tight abs and psoas and weak glutes and low back. In that case you'd want to stretch the abs, release the psoas and strengthen the low back and glutes. Not sure if those are your issues or not, but together they make up probably 80% of the low back issues I see. Hope it help, best of luck

    I inured my shoulder a year ago after rock climbing. I tried to do the ninja warrior pull up jump the bar to a higher rung and couldn’t hang on and tore something when my shoulder full extended. Can I still do hangs as a rehab for this injury?

    • @moversodyssey
      @moversodyssey  8 місяців тому

      depends on the injury, if its an active ac tear this can make it worse. i would just test the waters carefully and do this supported first.

    • @johnbrion4565
      @johnbrion4565 8 місяців тому +1

      @@moversodyssey thanks. I can still do pull ups and hang. It just hurts a bit and I don’t know then best rehab to be doing for this. I feel a little click with the hang once the joint is fully extended.

    • @moversodyssey
      @moversodyssey  8 місяців тому +1

      @@johnbrion4565 Sounds like you still have some connective tissue recovery that needs to happen. Honestly, if it was me I would still do daily stretches but I would leave the hang alone for a few months. Instead I would start doing some controlled articular rotations with light weight on the shoulder to rebuild the connective tissue.
      Check out Ravash's shoulder stuff, he does a lot of this type of training and puts most of it out there for free. Here's he's instagram. Best of luck

      It's always possible your particular shoulder issues aren't aided by this method. Many of the most common ones are, but if you have an AC tear for instance, this won't help. In fact it may even aggravate it in this case.
