This dance tells a very interesting story of a man losing himself in his quest for revenge. This further hammered in by the Fever Time portions. Joker tries to reach out to the last bit of humanity in him, Makoto tries to beat him down for his crimes, Futaba can't even make eye contact with him instead trying to analyze him and look for his weakness but his power is erratic and ever changing (much like his dancing.) The twins are the only ones who know him and know to control him and he HATES that! This dance is amazing.
I agree with your analysis on the Joker fever, but I like to think of Futaba and Makoto's fevers as a short account of the Phantom Thieves' interactions with Akechi. Akechi watches while they fight to steal hearts, and he returns to his facade when they look his way. He betrays the Thieves and they are defeated (Futaba) and forced into hiding (Makoto).
and i'm just here for Akechi and the song lol that is interesting tho. I like that this confirms that he has/had some connection to the velvet room though
I've more analyzed that both Makoto and Futaba were skeptical of Akechi ever since and keep the act that he's a Phantom Thief, however when Akechi revealed himself, that's when they figured they were correct and try to take action. Every now and then, Makoto glances at Akechi
It's pretty neat that they chose Futaba to represent the opposing dancers here. No doubt Joker and Akechi are gliding around like chess pieces. This dance is basically a run-through of his final boss fight-- he's smug and happy during the beginning (referencing the fact that Morgana says its the first time they've seen his genuine smile), him making himself go crazy during the middle. The fever is the finale of the battle, where the PTs are trying to help / talk to him. At least, thats how it seems with Akira's dance. With Makoto's and Futaba's dance it looks like they're just trying to continue fighting him. When dancing solo, it's like him reflecting inwardly about what the others have told him / him realizing that he's a puppet. After the fever ends, the finale of the dance is the post-battle with cognitive!Akechi and leading up to Goro's unfortunate fate.
It's kind of interesting, in the beginning of the dance it's clear he's playing the charming Detective Prince and in the middle he transitions into the demented assassin. When he's dancing with each of the Phantom Thieves, they engage in dance fighting. Even when he does the middle dance by himself he looks like he's fighting himself. What's the most interesting thing to me is when he's dancing with the Velvet Room twins, it really looks like the twins are yanking him around like a puppet. He tries fighting back but they yank him around more. I wonder if it's telling of how he was used as a pawn by the Velvet Room. Just thought it was something interesting.
To be more specific, he was used as a pawn by Yaldabaoth's Velvet Room, as that is the one the twins exist within. All three of them were puppets to him, but none of them knew it. The twins thought he was their master because they'd lost their memories after the split, so they did what he said without question until he gave them an order they could not reconcile with. Goro had no idea he even existed and thought he was the one in control all the way up to his death, never realizing that he was just a chess piece in some False God's sick "game".
I would also like to point out that during his "prince" portion of the dance, every now and then you can catch a glimpse of him subtly slipping in a psychotic expression just for a moment. You have to pay attention to see them. I believe this further symbolizes the falseness of his prince persona and what he's truly hiding underneath
i like the representation the partners have on his dance. he shows his true colors about 99% of the time with the protag, and hides it for a bit with the other two phantom thieves. the one with the velvet room twins still seems like a mystery to me, but i think atlus did an amazing job with his representation, it sure does bring back the adachi memories. another thing i noticed was his own little dance, a part where he's trying to reach out, but he fails.

I don't know if I'm seeing things, but Akira's looks like he's trying to help Akechi, and Akechi is trying to fight it, yet also seems to be going with it, until the final shove to save him from the cognitive him. Like, after the first time he pushes Akira away he reaches out to him like 'wait come back'. I'm not sure if anyone else picked that up. Also for some reason they make me think like a mating display of birds.
The partner dances were really cool and symbolic. Akira/Ren: They’re “friendship” and rivalry as “two sides of the same coin” with both being chosen as the main players for the game. Makoto: He belittled her and deceived Sae and everyone else. She shows her anger by trying to punch him. Futaba: He murdered her mother in the metaverse. Similar to Makoto, she tries to take her anger on him. The twins: I’m not sure but I think he was a guest to the velvet room like the protagonist (I think so due to being chosen along with Akira/Ren. Correct me if I’m wrong) I was predicting his partner dances were going to be the protagonist, Futaba, and Haru. I pictured Haru’s would have them both dance elegantly for a bit because both have a bit of formality and grace (well with outer appearances with Akechi). Then proceed to her showing her anger for him murdering her father.
Shelly Tolentino the Velvet one could be similar with Izanami since she gave Adachi Namatame or Yu their abilities to enter The Midnight Channel who knows or something to do with "Igor"
They were trying to reach to him, or is there an indication that someone else is...? Like a little-bigger sister, and they bash heads often-but there is no way relation is going to last... Possibly, by blood, hobbies and siblinghood should form, but matricide is only the beginning step to a death in the family? He tries to connect with him. Multiple times, failure occurs, no success, and now it's left him empty...
Little additions to Makoto and Futaba. The way they dance before Akechi shows his true colours and they start attacking is also quite telling of their relationship with Akechi. Neither of them knows or believes Akechi's true colours yet. Futaba's dance is a little shy because she admires him (dialogue when she bugged his phone). Makoto is somewhat envious and is basically stuck watching Akechi's back as per the events of the casino palace. Both of them really behave as though they've been betrayed. Ren doesn't have that problem since he's caught on since the festival. Their dance is more mirror like since they see each other like equals and rivals. At the beginning Ren looks more guarded but then at some point Ren does smile a little like he enjoyed dancing with Akechi. Then there's this part where Akechi's dance looks like he's going through a tantrum which is likely his reaction to losing/showing his true colours. And finally, the end of the dance almost looks like a one-sided breakup. The twins are a little different since they are symbolise the relationship with Igor and fate in general. And well, the twins look like they're just pushing him around. Who knows, Akechi might probably know of them if the twins are supposed to know who has access to Mementos.
If I liked Labrys's dance, Akechi's dance is even better! How graceful and elegant was at the beginning, but showing how crazy he actually was. Then, at the middle of the song, he reveals his true colors: an insanely unstable mass murderer teenager who was unstoppable, until, at the end of the performance, he realizes how he truly feels and lets his anger get free until he ends up empty
his facial expressions and movements changes as the dancing goes, quite fitting, also, i am surprised he didn´t get a sequence with Haru since he killed her father
I love how Akechi has some connection with the partners Twins: he is a prisoner of fate like Akira Futaba: he killed her mom Makoto: he has a deep bond with sae And joker.. well you know the drill
I noticed during the partner parts, Makoto's and Futaba's routine were relatively the same. But why my pancake Boi gotta look so angry throughout the dance?
Wouldn't you be angry too, if you found out you were in the game as DLC and not as the main cast? :D He was always jealous of Joker, finding out he was behind Joker again let alone DLC, would definitely not leave him happily smiling.
Man... Nobody wants to dance with Akechi. And the ones that do, are basically attacking him. Joker was like the only one who was like: "Stop being an asshole and be friends with me."
When you realized that both P4 and P5 has a DLC of their serial killer antagonists in their games while P3 has not but the ever loved Shinjiro-senpai....
sometime his mask is on, sometime off, and its looks downright unhinged i love it, especially when he dance alone during fever---bro looks so crazy i love him
Everyone's talking about the partner bits but what about when he's on his own. His dance moves don't look like dances and rather erratic movements like he's out of control and his face is psychotic, but then he reaches his hands up then towards the screen as if calling for help. But then it kicks in him again and blocks the connection before doing a slash motion towards the same direction and then returns to his usual dancing. This is really reminiscent of him in persona 5 and I love it so much.
i really like how goro's dance in the beginning somewhat mirrors ren's since they're both using free style, and i really like how different caroline and justine are with him they're more stern? I would say then they are with ren. It's a nice touch
His dance kind like a crazy demented crow, it becomes more apparent with his dance with AkiRen. Make sense with his code name and how he act during his boss fight. I feel disappointed that there is no remix and dance outfit for Akechi but all his dance partners make up for it.
I love how a single dance nailed his character so well. Makoto and Futaba dance with him, though they still seem cautious. Once he reveals his true self they try to attack. The Velvet Twins treat him like a puppet and he can't break free. He fights with Joker and yet like someone else pointed out "closes the door" and pushes him back to save him. And then when he's alone he's trying to fight his inner self but in the end he fails.
I LOVE 5:13. It shows his two masks, then him reaching out for help... I love it. After playing Royal I feel like they were overplaying his insanity here; he’s only like this after making himself go berserk, but overall I love the choreography, just not the faces.
I think it's really interesting he doesn't go all "Pleasant Boy" until about 0:45. He starts with relatively blank facial expressions, which become more "cool" and determined as the song progresses. He then goes blank again before slipping on his Detective Prince mask. Idk I see a bunch of comments about his crazy faces and I got bored lmao
What I love the most about playing this song is how much harder the song gets the more you play and it goes along with how much angrier Akechi gets during the song
good god there's so much to unpack in this it's so good. How they gave Akechi two different dance styles, starting off with his very public idol like image and then slowly teasing into his more uhhh traitorous side. Also the continued illusions to a puppet/moving like he's having his strings pulled (as a reference to the fact that he really was just a puppet to a certain politician who won't be named) and then to end it off from there having the two dance styles attempt to merge as he calms down into the akechi we get at the end... then there's how joker and his movements mirror each other or how with makoto he definitely seems to tease her a bit or with futaba where he tries to gain her trust in the beginning of the dance...the twins one is the most interesting to me because it's not an interaction we ever see in game really and the way the dance is set up reminds me a bit of joker with them.... and then there's akechi's solo dance which is painful because the devs and designers do such a good job at portraying all of his conflicting emotions and sides. So far i'm really enjoying the detail put into these dlcs
i think he's really cute when he allows futaba on the dancefloor. he's all smiles and friendly and stuff and futaba all shy-like is like "okay..." and then he goes crazy lmao
I like each fever seems to convey something, Alone, the Crow and Black Mask mindsets seem to be at odds and Akechi's trying very hard to clamp both of them down for the sake of his tasks. Even without their additional interactions in Royal, Joker arguably has the clearest picture of Akechi and thus actively tries to dance alongside him and appeal to his better nature. As the ones most screwed over by Akechi's drawn out revenge scheme, Makoto and Futaba try to fight him off and make him pay for the things he did to them as the ace detective and Black Mask, respectively. Though Akechi likely never interacted with the wardens, as Velvet Room attendants, they could be considered representatives of fate; the one thing he would ultimately fail to break down or shut down, no matter how much power he gained.
Okay but i still think this is the best dance not bc I'm biased af but also just Little things like how he dances like an idol, like he's showing off, then "revealing his true self" and his dancing gets more chaotic And that one move where they focus on his face and his expression is different with each side he covers. I also love the part when he's going nuts bc it's like he's just saying fuck it and leaving his worldly burdens behind??? I guess??? The fever with Akira is amazing too just like.... they show contempt but are still dancing together and in synch fuckin shows how a villain and a hero are written- reflections of each other at odds. AND HE LITERALLY PUSHES AKIRA AWAY OVER WHERE THE PARTITION IS LIKE FUCK ME his puppet move at the end too right before it stops too just reminds me of him giving in to letting his cognitive version kill him, who is only seen as a puppet to Shido And... Ik I'm really fucking reaching for straws but let me be this is my ted talk I'll imagine as much as i gotta
Joker: Engages In a territorial fight/mating dance with Akechi Makoto: *FIST OF JUSTICE!* Futaba: Gets scared and desperately tries to push Akechi away Wardens: Test to see if the other Trickster Is as good of a dancer as Joker.
I hope Akechi continues to make appearances in spin offs and such because he's just such a well made character and I would hate if they stopped using him. I'm so happy he's in Persona Q2, Akechi deserves justice.
Interesting choice to put the twins with him as dance partners, I mean there is talk in the game of Akechi probably being a wild card if only he would try to tap onto that potential of course.
Armund Jay But... you are wrong... there is no argument. in the game we are talking about, THE DANCING GAME. He is named Ren Amamiya. it says on the card when he walks in. Akira is propaganda made by manga. good day
Like what they did to akechi. I the beginning his dances are refined and elegant but as the song goes on his dancing becomes increasingly spiratic until he basically is just flailing around. With his partner dances. With Akira they both mirror eachother. Joker being more refined and Akechi just being chaotic. With Makoto she dances for a little bit but throughout the fever she keeps trying to punch him out of anger not even trying to hide it. For Futaba she is similar to Makoto dances. She also expresses some anger towards him But due to Futaba clumsy moves . She just flails and trys to grab him rather then punching him. Right at the end after akechi makes a punching motion Futaba dancing likes she is knocked back. For the twins he just dances with them. When he is by himself akechi goes all out and shows how crazy he truly is brilliant.

Goro: "I'm gonna do some weird shit."
LMAO on that last part!
But also great insight!
he might have wanted tried to "save" akira from the same fate he had suffered
4:17 Did Akechi just roundhouse kick Futaba?
**Inaudible screaming**
He straight up decked her
Rn Tz bruh shes not a child, she’s like 15 in persona 5 but then turns 16 during the game so
Rn Tz I mean it’s what the wiki says, tell me I’m wrong and I don’t wanna sound like a dick. If I am, I’m sorry.
@@hannahpotassium4301 Almost as hard as he decked her mom.
I like how Akechi moves like a puppet and does his Black Mask pose in the end.
Legit, when he does his solo fever, he looks like he’s just driving himself insane
It makes sense since that's literally what he did during his boss fight.
Mental breakdown! At The Disco
Its like hes being torn apart from the inside, as if hes fighting his cognitive form possibly.
Finally, Our lovely *Boi*
KayraNoteBlock yup ^_^
The partner dances were really cool and symbolic.
Akira/Ren: They’re “friendship” and rivalry as “two sides of the same coin” with both being chosen as the main players for the game.
Makoto: He belittled her and deceived Sae and everyone else. She shows her anger by trying to punch him.
Futaba: He murdered her mother in the metaverse. Similar to Makoto, she tries to take her anger on him.
The twins: I’m not sure but I think he was a guest to the velvet room like the protagonist (I think so due to being chosen along with Akira/Ren. Correct me if I’m wrong)
I was predicting his partner dances were going to be the protagonist, Futaba, and Haru.
Shelly Tolentino the twins try to prison him because she going to kill inmate
I would have loved to see Sae dancing instead of Makoto, because his tie to her is stronger in my opinion
Akechi's little dance comp

If I liked Labrys's dance, Akechi's dance is even better! How graceful and elegant was at the beginning, but showing how crazy he actually was. Then, at the middle of the song, he reveals his true colors: an insanely unstable mass murderer teenager who was unstoppable, until, at the end of the performance, he realizes how he truly feels and lets his anger get free until he ends up empty
GOROBOIS ROLL OUT
HERE HE IS. OUR BOY
You really begin to notice how two-faced he is during his dance. Goes from looking sweet and wholesome to downright deranged in the blink of an eye!
his facial expressions and movements changes as the dancing goes, quite fitting, also, i am surprised he didn´t get a sequence with Haru since he killed her father
She’s a.better dancer than Makoto or those blue weasels anyhow…
I know he's a two faced traitor...but he's still my husbando..... goddammit I just CAN'T hate him!!!
I sure as hell can hate him. I enjoy hating him too.
He's our pancake-kun we could never do that to him
I could never hate him lol
Sameee
He's a good murderous pancake boi
Joker: "Sure, why not?" *dances*
Makoto: "Uhhh....okay. *dances* Wait, what am I doing? *starts throwing punches*
Futaba: *Strolls in* Wait, Akechi?! Ah, never mind. *starts dancing* Oh, wait. I don't like you. *starts attacking*
Twins: *just dance*
*hyperventilates*
Ja'far, Chief of Sindria Trading Company take an albuterol, must be asthma.
I love how Akechi has some connection with the partners
Twins: he is a prisoner of fate like Akira
Futaba: he killed her mom
Makoto: he has a deep bond with sae
And joker.. well you know the drill
His expression in the end is so terrifying.
Also that final pose... really symbolizes his death and his state of being Shido's puppet huh.
He's not dead
3:18 I'm just realized something when Akechi dance with Joker
HE PUSH JOKER AWAY WHERE THE WALL'S SUPPOSED COME UP!!!...HAHA...HA...
I'm deperessed
1:27 oh wow he really did THAT™
I noticed during the partner parts, Makoto's and Futaba's routine were relatively the same.
But why my pancake Boi gotta look so angry throughout the dance?
didn't get his morning pancakes lmao
you're more of yourself when you're hungry O:-)
Wouldn't you be angry too, if you found out you were in the game as DLC and not as the main cast? :D
He was always jealous of Joker, finding out he was behind Joker again let alone DLC, would definitely not leave him happily smiling.
The entire dance is a metaphor for his role as a traitor
Nermac1 that true
manrangan that also true still Be happy Akechi sheesh at least your father aint here
those 1000% sass when he does Joker's all out attack glove thing after Makoto's and Futaba's fever time
Man... Nobody wants to dance with Akechi. And the ones that do, are basically attacking him. Joker was like the only one who was like: "Stop being an asshole and be friends with me."
I need his Black-Mask costume in this
Did anyone else notice Akechi pushes Akira/Ren where the door pops up?
I just love the smooth transitions from sane to insane
When you realized that both P4 and P5 has a DLC of their serial killer antagonists in their games while P3 has not but the ever loved Shinjiro-senpai....
4:02 Futaba accidentally Irish step-dancing while trying to follow Akechi's lead lol.
damn for being a serial killer hes got some moves
He's killing it!
1:13 Is no one talking about the way he changes his expression from normal to insane like that? I thought that looked pretty clean.
sometime his mask is on, sometime off, and its looks downright unhinged i love it, especially when he dance alone during fever---bro looks so crazy i love him
0:57 You tell me, is that the face of a serial killer.
Yes
Ah, Pancake-kun becoming psychotic as he dances like Cabbage-kun before him XD
Sammy Lui
The Ultimate Dance Battle:
The Psychotic Pancake Devourer VS The Murderous Cabbage Annihilator
I still got feels for Akechi. My favorite character, honestly.
Takes guts to dab at the twins.
Oh my fucking god he dodges Joker twice but then reaches out for him, almost like he's asking for help ;;
we stan a dancing pancake king!!!
i cant stop watching this dear god help me
Everyone's talking about the partner bits but what about when he's on his own.
There's something about how they sync with each other at 3:05 that just gives me chills every time
YES GORO!!!
King of Sorrow No Goro
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASS GORO!!!!!!!!!!
Haha I get your name cause it’s bench boy
Goro Akechi sucks.
@i like akechi Yes? That is how ears work.
I just noticed that he literally 'dies' on stage. Some of his facial expressions at the end make him look like he's in pain.
Alot of emotion was put into this dance.
i really like how goro's dance in the beginning somewhat mirrors ren's since they're both using free style, and i really like how different caroline and justine are with him they're more stern? I would say then they are with ren. It's a nice touch
1:14
Literally two-faced
Goro sweetie you're doing amazing 💞💖💘
Yes keep up the good word sweetie you’re slaying it
His dance kind like a crazy demented crow, it becomes more apparent with his dance with AkiRen.
The cognitive akechi when no one is looking
I LOVE 5:13. It shows his two masks, then him reaching out for help... I love it.
After playing Royal I feel like they were overplaying his insanity here; he’s only like this after making himself go berserk, but overall I love the choreography, just not the faces.
I think it's really interesting he doesn't go all "Pleasant Boy" until about 0:45. He starts with relatively blank facial expressions, which become more "cool" and determined as the song progresses. He then goes blank again before slipping on his Detective Prince mask. Idk I see a bunch of comments about his crazy faces and I got bored lmao
_Futaba proceeds to dance with Akechi_
Hmmmm.....
What I love the most about playing this song is how much harder the song gets the more you play and it goes along with how much angrier Akechi gets during the song
Literally dancing in his own grave
I'll never forgive them for making him DLC only
Also, it seems like there's a lot of symbolism behind the dance with the Velvet room twins...
The voicelines he uses during thw dance “Just what are you?!?” “MONSTERS!” vaguely inply that he may be afraid of them..
good god there's so much to unpack in this it's so good. So far i'm really enjoying the detail put into these dlcs
me in the bathroom at 1 am:
I need a duet with akechi and adachi!
4:57
*Inner Adachi Awakens*
his dancing reminds me of adachi's (akechi-adachi sound similar too..)
Javiera Puga That was the point
At least 1 was Rocking it right and with a board and sadistic happy face while the other both psychotic and sadistic and more troubled child
I hate them both
superiorgamedude you mean love
Akechi sweetie I'm so sorry
i think he's really cute when he allows futaba on the dancefloor. he's all smiles and friendly and stuff and futaba all shy-like is like "okay..." and then he goes crazy lmao
1:01 He turns, gives a psychopath look, then turns and he's normal again
Makoto tried to punch Akechi twice lmao. Also his dance with Akira is just so damn extra. The gay energies is outstanding.
I like each fever seems to convey something,
Alone, the Crow and Black Mask mindsets seem to be at odds and Akechi's trying very hard to clamp both of them down for the sake of his tasks.
Okay but i still think this is the best dance not bc I'm biased af but also just
Little things like how he dances like an idol, like he's showing off, then "revealing his true self" and his dancing gets more chaotic
And that one move where they focus on his face and his expression is different with each side he covers.
AND HE LITERALLY PUSHES AKIRA AWAY OVER WHERE THE PARTITION IS LIKE FUCK ME
his puppet move at the end too right before it stops too just reminds me of him giving in to letting his cognitive version kill him, who is only seen as a puppet to Shido
And...
Ik I'm really fucking reaching for straws but let me be this is my ted talk I'll imagine as much as i gotta
4:38 HES THICCCCCC, THAT POOL TABLE IS 100% ACCURATE AND CANNON
Bruh
Joker: Engages In a territorial fight/mating dance with Akechi
Makoto: *FIST OF JUSTICE!*
Futaba: Gets scared and desperately tries to push Akechi away
Wardens: Test to see if the other Trickster Is as good of a dancer as Joker.
I hope Akechi continues to make appearances in spin offs and such because he's just such a well made character and I would hate if they stopped using him. I'm so happy he's in Persona Q2, Akechi deserves justice.
Is this what Akechi was doing while he was waiting for the Phantom thieves in shido’s palace? Wait joker shows up in the dance never mind...
Interesting choice to put the twins with him as dance partners, I mean there is talk in the game of Akechi probably being a wild card if only he would try to tap onto that potential of course.
I love how angry he look when he’s dancing with Ren. 3:02
I love the insanity, it kinda shows he is fighting himself sometimes
I'm kinda disappointed that he and Shinji didn't get any dance outfits.
Colton Turbville I dunno man, dlc for dlc seems wack
Colton Turbville didnt shinji got the swimsuit and the Butler suit?,i remember seeing that somewhere
Colton Turbville and i just Saw a vídeo of Akechi dancing in his swimsuit,Butler suit, Velvet attendant suit and his guard outfit from Sae' palace
MY GAY HEART CANT TAKE THIS MUCH FANBOYING
SOMEONE SEND HELP
..Goro and Akira dancing together is my new aesthetic
Armund Jay You mean Akechi and Ren
superiorgamedude I mean Goro Akechi and Akira Kurusu, but I’m not having this argument; I’ve had enough of it.
😊
I’ll just agree to disagree with you.
Armund Jay But... you are wrong... there is no argument. in the game we are talking about, THE DANCING GAME. He is named Ren Amamiya. it says on the card when he walks in. Akira is propaganda made by manga. good day
Who gives a crap about the name? We could just call him the protagonist.
I like Sae, not Ren
4:27 unused cutscene of akechi redemption his soul to twins
Still sad he is just DLC but at least he is here
Femc😢
@Benji Unlike Ryoji, she's in PQ2 so that's something... with a major role rather than DLC ^_^
ohfuckIwasntready
1:27 WELL? THIS IS ME!
2:35 Akechi is doing the stanky leg😳
