Thank you for this video. I'm an IMG. I'll love to get Surgery residency, this was a needed push. I wasn't able to get electives in the US, I'm hoping to apply for a clerkship after I take my Step 1. Congrats to Dr Chauhan
A lot of hardwork and time to get there. It is worth a while to be good Doctors. Congratulations!
Now i have much more confidence that about studying abroad other than in india for mbbs can also match surgery in usa. Thats a whole lot of inspiration for students who are pursuing or has done mbbs from abroad.

Hey Manik!
Thank you for doing these interviews. They help a lot.
As you have a lot of connections, can you have interviews with the people who matched into categorical surgical positions?
Very optimistic and charming video
Great man
I was looking for something like this video that could make me clear about "no surgery for IMGs" thing. Dr. Ishit was great to hear from. So inspiring!
I m in 3rd year student from Pakistan. Gathering information about USMLE would be so hard without this channel. The videos not only explain things in the easiest way, they motivate too. You are doing great work Dr. Manik.
What can be better than a detailed report on first-hand experience?

I also want to become general surgeon , thankyou for inspiring .
I am just starting step 1 preparation. This video has really inspired and enlightened me. Thanks senior colleagues. I would appreciate if I could have Dr. Ishit's contact; I intend to go for electives at Jackson's Hospital and also he's a great resource to mentor me.
To be great surgeon, you don't need over the moon scores, you need to the hunger to learn and work hard, I think Dr Chauhan has successfully demonstrated that
Congrats! You too are legends
I'm also studying mbbs in China. Now believe in myself. Keep the great job we need more of these videos as this journey is overwhelming to IMG.
Respected Sir/Madam, Are You From India pursuing MBBS in China. 🌝🌝
Hi, Dr chauhan said that he got in elective while he was intern in india after his fmge, does that mean after returning to India from china with a degree, he was still considered as an undergrad? And hence eligible to apply for elective?
@@vaibhavmjain1997 During his internship in India, he was still an undergrad because he extended his graduation of his degree(from China) nearly about 1 year. Hence he got electives as a med student itself!

Dr.Manik please do a video of Visa-requiring CATEGORICAL General surgery matched applicants.
It will be extremely inspiring.
We already have plenty of prelims 😅.
But getting into categorical General surgery directly would be amazing, waiting for more videos 👍

Could you please make a video on the duration of each specialties in residency ?
Just to clarify, i feel the title may be a bit misleading
He matched into a Preliminary Surgical Position (not a full year categorical position)
He got into PGY-2 preliminary position, but after that he was not able to match. As of 2022 he is not matched, and has an uphill battle
There are certain limitations of a surgical preliminary program which this video does not address.
Can you clarify more?
ClArify more
Hey bro
Can you make a video on ....
Like ,
1) can we do some clinical practice in US - ( while doing MBBS) and
2)can we do clinical practice in US
after the finishing mbbs
compare both and say which is the best option and what's the procedure likewise... So that it will be very much useful for all....👍
If you're reading my comment ....
It's appreciated 🙂
Great video ❤
Do u think it’s reasonable for me to target for residency 2023 ( right now I’m a blank page haven’t given any steps also).
I finished my internship at the end of march 2020. If I have to get into July 2023 residency then I have to apply for interviews in Sept 2022, so by then my yog gap would have been almost 2.5 years, do you think it’s a red flag?
I’m going to start my preparation for the step 1, right now I feel like I’m on level 0 with my knowledge, for a person like me do u suggest I do Kaplan videos or boards and beyond ( I have not studied anything related to step 1 in the past and Whatever I have learned in mbbs I don’t really remember anything. Could u please suggest what is better for me Kaplan or BnB or should I do both ??
So that I can finish my preparation in a reasonable amount of time and also get a very high score. I’m ready to put in as much as effort possible to get a really good score
It would be very very helpful if u could clarify my doubts
Really it is very helpful
thank you so muchh
True surgery residents hate q 3 call because they miss 2/3 rds of all of the surgeries.
Hi Manik, I was recently told about you from a final year student in madras medical college. I’m so glad I have come across you. Im Dr Akshada and it’s almost 5 years since I graduated but I’m going to try for GS in US.
I had a doubt - how do I purchase a digital version of first aid as u had adviced?
And if I’m only now starting for first step prep when do I apply to take the exam ?…
At the outset, thankyou for all the info u have gathered for al of us, can’t tell you how much it means!!
Bro is it true that students who pursue mbbs from countries like ukraine, Russia are not equally respected and seen when it comes to USMLE ?
Hello dr very fine video, I have a question, in the case of IMG that searching doing an fellow in neurosurgery, but made the residency of neurosurgery in natal country, what did you recomend for aplication, thanks for your response.
ua-cam.com/video/JNMcVOQw9LI/v-deo.html
Sir. In which year you given your step 1, during your mbbs course.
Please put an interview on Gynaecology
Could you please tell us the duration of each residency?
Hey this video is really inspiring I would like to find out.... am in my 4th year last semester in medical school(MBBS)in China and next year June I will be done with my 5th year after 5th year there is internship before i graduate from med school and exam... if I write my USMLE before September will I be able to apply for internship because when I read online it says the first year of residency is internship or because the kind of internship is different and is based on the speciality I won't and have do my internship some place else and get my degree then apply?
Sir can you please tell the name of your med school in China..
Bcoz most of the people in india say that there's no good med school in china
Is it true that we must obtain a medical license from our native country in order to be accepted into a US residency program?
hello Manik, could you help me with how to get externships for general surgery and plastic surgery and also how to get a research position in any hospital for plastic surgery.
Great video !! SO do we need to apply for electives before usmle 1 or after usmle and when should one apply for step-2 ?? someone pls answer
When he said Soccer i got connected❤️
How did he do electives after graduating medical school ?I thought only undergraduates could do it .
How much does it cost to start residency from beginning to sign in to efcmg to get a match ? And considering the fact that target residency is general surgery
Hey..I’m doing mbbs from russia what would be my timeline if i want to do usmle? When should i give usmle (in russian it took 6yr for mbbs) ? ,When should we do electives, like during internship in india can i go for electives ? and about observerships when should we go for observership ?
Plz reply
Can you tell us about the duration of electives..I mean if u r selected for 4 electives then how you deviate your time towards these electives..
so once you get selected, if any elective overlaps with another just reschedule
How did he completed a Clinical elective rotation at Jackson Memorial Hospital if you need to come from an uni which is LCME accredited
Awesome 😜
i think now its better to pursue mbbs abroad and then go for usmle , plab or amc..
I think he is from my college in china. 4 years senior.
FMGE / MCI registration needed for usmle ? After finishing mbbs in China ?
Please do a neurosurgery IMG resident interview
Sure
Is there any neurosurgery IMG??
What is the mean no. Of abstracts presentation and publication he had before match
Is there any use for icmr sts project?
If there how it is helpfull..
Yes
Hello! As all the electives for this year are cancelled, does extending internship untill one gets an elective reasonable?? What are ur views??
yes
@@manikmadaan won't it effect our cv?? I mean it needs to be extended by one more year just bcoz of covid and has already been extended bcoz of breaks for step1 n step2 ck.
@@dr.swathiraikot doing electives trumps that
He is not inspiration for mbbs students in india he is real inspiration for those who went to abroad from india and cracked general surgery wow..a great fmge
