- Princess Latifa al-Maktoum, the daughter of Dubai's fabulously rich ruler, says in secretly recorded videos obtained by BBC News that her father is keeping her locked up after she made a daring escape attempt in 2018. CBS News senior foreign correspondent Elizabeth Palmer reports on the new revelations, and Tiina Jauhiainen, a friend who helped the princess in 2018 and has since formed the Free Latifa lobbying group, joined CBSN with her story.

This is to exercise my right of correction and to defend myself against the false allegations floated by Tiina Jauhiainen. First, I did not run out of fuel. I departed with full tanks capacity and I had extra tanks. I had enough fuel to complete the mission. However because we were followed by warships, Latifa and I discussed a change of plan to go somewhere else which required to refuel. Then Tiina goes on to blame the disclosure of our location on the other devices I had on the yacht without mentionning that she had 2 phones from Dubai and that her phones could have been the source of the tracking. I am a Captain, she is not. She lacks the knowledge of the technology and she has no maritime experience. Rayzone, the spy company involved in the tracking, advertises its capability to geolocate mobile phones, it's illegal but that's what they do: geolocate mobile phones, not satellite phones, or wifi's. Further, satellite phones, wifi's, routers and emails are untraceable in the middle of the ocean, they are irrelevant in geolocating. Aware of this technology, I did not have my phone on the yacht, I had left it behind and I deactivated it, so it could not have been tracked. Nonetheless, Tiina provided evidence that SHE had a mobile phone. Remember the selfie with Latifa that she boasted online? well, she took it with her mobile phone, the one she was not supposed to have. She brought 2 compromised Dubai phones on the yacht against my instructions, and in hiding. Latifa had left her phone behind as instructed. Then Tiina broadcast the selfie from her bugged phones. The moment she got online with her phone through my wifi, she uploaded her IMEI number in the network and was instantly identified, then located and then we were attacked. The sad reality is that the woman who claims to help Latifa is the reason why they found her, with the catastrophic consequence of Latifa's capture. We were stormed by troops and Latifa was repatriated to Dubai by force because of Tiina's phone. Had Tiina not brought her phones onboard, Latifa would be in the US now.
Wow. So she's blaming you for the failure of the mission even though as u explain it she made some pretty obvious mistakes with disastrous consequences? Why have you not been interviewed at this point. This information seems very relevant now.
When seeing these videos I keep asking myself, how is Tiina not dead for helping Latifa.
