Bournemouth have the cheek to list edgar as one of their notable film school alumni, despite the fact that they essentially rejected him.

He did go there, but it was the 'AV course', not the 'FTV' course, and the reason Edgar has done so well is that he's a film making X-Men. He never ceases to work on film making, and when everyone would hand in their 15 minute projects, Edgar would hand in a full movie.

Basically to become one of the greatest filmmaker, first, you should get rejected or never go to film schools.

There are plenty of amazing filmmakers who’ve gone to film school. It depends on the person.

Now, September 2021, Edgar Wright has had, or is having an interesting year.
He made a documentary (which he was working on at this moment!), supposed to be released 2020, but a certain virus stopped that. In January 2021, at the Sundance Film Festival, Park City, Utah, USA, did finally 'The Sparks Brothers' about the band SPARKS come out in public. Mostly VERY positively recieved. It's a documentary about a music band. If you don't know anything about the band, and it turns out that you don't like the music nor the two brothers who are the band, you probably don't like the film, that's a calculated fact. Anyway, I would guess at the least equally many who never heard of SPARKS became fans of the band. The fact that Sparks has gone from less than 20 000 followers on YT since June, to over 46 100 and counting speaks clearly. Edgar is a HUGE Sparks fan himself, so to him it was a heavenly task to make a film about "Your favorite band's favorite band", as Sparks are known for being.
In August his haunting film 'Last Night In Soho' premiered, and seems to be a success.
He worked parallelly with both films, and actually turned them in to the respectively corporation the same day.
I'm a Sparks fan, so I have watched a large number of interviews with Edgar Wright, mostly together with The Sparks Brothers, aka Ron Mael and Russell Mael, two gentlemen in their seventies (first album out 1971, released their 25th in May 2020, working on the next one.
In July their and Leos Carax's musical movie ANNETTE opened The Cannes Film Festival, gave Carax the 'Best Director' prize, and Ron and Russell the 'Best Soundtrack' reward.
Edgar Wright appears to be a nice, quick-witted, humorous, warm and utterly easy going person.
I assume those are qualities that not are bad, being a film director!
