Great video!
In the years since The Distressor was first released, it’s become as iconic as Urei 1176’s and LA2-A’s; not because the Distressor is now as ubiquitous as the 1176 and the LA2-A (even though it is, and perhaps even more so, because of its less expensive price tag) but simply because it’s a fantastic compressor.
The 90’s gave us several great pieces of gear that are still commonly and widely used today - Royer’s R-121 Ribbon Mic, The Focusrite Red 3 Dual Compressor/Limiter, and of course, The EL Distressor.

What a fantastic interview. Dave is really a cool guy. I just bought two distressors. The EL8-X. Consecutive serial numbers. I got a pretty good price on them used. So I was searching UA-cam for some info on the distressors and came across this. excellent!! Thank you sonicscoop. And thank you Dave!!

For me? Vocals, acoustic guitar, bass, kick, snare, room mics... and anything where you want parallel compression.

WHY is the price so high for the Distrressor ,,, Lower price more people would buy them . no need for second hand (occasion ) them ,
