    A few years ago, my rear left speaker stopped working. I did some test and the speaker itself was just fine but that rear left signal was not being sent. i opened up the woofer a few times and couldn't fix that issue.
    Last year, the speakers stopped all together and the woofer generated a constant hiss with a regular blip. I opened the control unit and couldn't find a fault.
    I started planning to get a new surround sound system or maybe re-use the speaker for the Z506 for something else.
    I ordered the power supply board as a last ditch attempt but was planning for a replacement (the Pyle PFA560BT was mighty appealing or maybe even a 2.1 bluetooth board from Ebay).
    Yesterday, I got the power supply board and installed it using your video.
    Results? The system is as good as new! Even the rear left channel is now working. This was a great video and it saved me from throwing away or scrapping my system.

    I just followed instructions from this video to fix mine and it worked but then 2 minutes in at loud volumes the power fades in and out. I tested at a lower volume and it works great! But full volume is what I usually use these surround speakers for. Can you provide any tips on why this would be happening?

    • @ThinkerOnTheBus
      @ThinkerOnTheBus 2 роки тому

      My speakers are exhibiting the same behavior, where the play just fine at real low volumes, but once you crank up the decibels, then the speakers react as if they can no longer handle the same higher volumes they did previously, causing them to repeatedly cut out momentarily.
      If you happen to determine the cause of the problem and/or discover a solution on how to fix it, then please let me know, and I will do the same for you. However, reading through some of the posted comments here, it appears that some people have resolved our problem by installing a new power supply. You have done that, but there is a chance that the power supply you installed, although brand new, might be bad.

    Wait! How do I know the power supply in my Logitech z506 subwoofer has broke? What are the signs that would indicate the power supply could be broken? What if your speakers play just fine at real low volumes, but as soon as you increase the volume to a certain threshold, it causes all speakers to cut out momentarily, and that behavior is repeated constantly, as if it were receiving more power than it could utilize. What type of problem could that behavior indicate? Can it potentially be related to a bad power supply as well?

      @@Tisrok
      Have you discovered what is causing the issue yet?

    • @ThinkerOnTheBus
      @ThinkerOnTheBus 11 місяців тому

      No, I haven't discovered a definitive cause for my speakers' malfunctioning, although logically, it seems to be related to power somehow. I was just going to risk ordering the board, and replacing it in hopes that it would solve the issue. I was about 80%-85% certain that the cause of the issue was something on the board in the subwoofer, and those were odds I was willing to take. Further, I could not find any other information online that suggested the root of the problem originates elsewhere. I went to order the replacement board, and supplies were out of stock. I checked back a few times, and the part remained out of stock. I searched for a different source for the part, and I could not locate any. Eventually, I went out and purchased the Logitech Z606, and found that speaker system to be inferior to the Z506 system. Two problems I did not care for regarding the Z606 was the center speaker was shaped exactly like the satellite speakers in that it was designed to be placed in a vertical orientation. I did not care for that, especially because at the time of replacement, it did not fit well in a vertical position . . . and besides, it just doesn't look natural. I turned it horizontally, and it doesn't look right in that orientation neither! Also, although the Z606 has a slightly higher output power, they do not sound any louder than the Z506, and without knowing the specs, I would probably claim the Z506 system was just a hair louder. Plus, the Z606 sound quality seemed inferior to the Z506, sounding rather tinny, falling short in bass for which the subwoofer does not compensate.
      I just checked the link provided in the video description to see if that board was available yet, and now the webpage no longer exists! I will have to hunt around for that part because I am still willing to take the risk in attempting to fix the Z506 speaker system. If I can locate the board, and it solves the issue, then I will return to using the Z506 system.
      I am assuming you must have had a similar problem with your speakers. If so, did you ever find a solution to your problem? Did you manage to acquire the board, and that solved the issue for you? What was the problem with your speakers? Let me know if you happen to see this!

    Did you have any symptoms or did the board just fail? I have a weird fault with mine, it work fine and sounds good etc but if i shut down my Pc but leave the speakers on for more than 10-15min the speaker power light goes dim, then if i reboot my PC the speakers are not working almost like a lack of power...... if i turn the Speakers on and off via the power button next to the volume control they will power back up and the light becomes bright again. I was thinking this could be my Power board but tbh struggling to diagnose it.

    • @DiegoSynth
      @DiegoSynth 4 роки тому

      yes, plus yesterday my whole unit went off forever. All the connections are inside the subwoofer, you need to unscrew the back panel (where you plug all the speakers) and take it out (carefully as the cables are stupidly tight). Then check the board and see if there is nothing broken: in my case I found broken pads. If that is the case, you could try bridging them with a soldering iron (search in UA-cam how to fix broken pads in pcb). In my case the subwoofer board is in such a bad state (corrosion has eaten the screws, I cannot even remove them plus overheating?! has deteriorated many components) that I think it's time to move on (I had it for 10 years across 2 countries, hence the corrosion I guess).
      In your case, check the spot in the board where the big dsub-9 is soldered to. Maybe you find some messed up stuff there. Good luck!
