Shocked you diddnt mention the keitech casting jig when talking about compact jigs. That’s one of my favorite. Tungsten head so the profile is smaller than other baits of the same weight; wire tied skirt so they never fall off. Skinny bait keeper that doesn’t shred your plastic and a skirt material and consistency unlike any others ive used
@@jeufuyang6261 I suppose if you live in Florida or a state that has 8+ lb fish but I’ve caught tons of 5s on em. Also note I don’t mean the football ones, those things are tiny af
Good stuff, great tutorial. More people need to have confidence in the jig. I know so many fishermen who don't even fish it. Local club members who fish tournaments but don't fish a jig. No faith! My PB a 11lbs 12 oz largemouth came on a Stanley 5/16th jig with a pork craw trailer back in the 1990s. It's been catching bass for many decades. Thanks for all you guys do via this channel.
Great video. Would love to see a video of you flipping and skipping jigs with your commentary of how and why you are using the technique. More jig videos! -To throw the jig is to love the jig…
The Bassdope Pillhead compact jig is the best small profile big fish jig I’ve ever used. Handmade, super durable, small business. Not a costly overhyped product.
Man Matt we thank you and Tim so much for all your knowledge and detailed videos that yow put out to help all of us anglers, every little bit helps. I definitely look forward to the next videos we all thank you for yow time and for sharing ,god bless and be safe.
Awesome video! I’d love to see you guys also throw in a rod for us kayak/ small boat guys being that more of the community is fishing out of small boats
Always good stuff. One of these days I will get confidence in a jig. I have tried them and caught fish on them and yes bigger fish than my normal size bass but it just seems like I can rarely get on fish with a jig. I feel like I have to make myself fish a jig. Someday hopefully soon that will change. Thank you for all you do.
Just used the dirty jigs no jack version 2 hematoma as recommend in a tournament. Hot hot weather and this caught bass. Paired it up with a Xzone Adrenaline Craw. Super fun day while stuck in the heat. Embrace the suck! Thanks for the tip, wouldn't of caught bass without it
Sometime in november a couple years ago, it was like 21degrees outside and I didnt feel like getting out on the water in the kayak. Ended up catching my PB with one of the dirty jigs from the bank. Such a good jig and now my jig box is full of those and chatterbaits lol
Awesome video! I'm breaking out all those jigs I bought last year when I started fishing but never really knew how to use. I bought several 1/4 ounce SK mini flipping jigs. What jig would you recommend for a bank fishing pond guy who fishes around a lot of primrose? Punching a structure jig while throwing along the weed line and hopping one back in?
Just moved to FL and got back into bass fishing. The Jig was always my favorite.. Random Question Guys. I moved here from Boston, so the sun wasn't always a big deal, WELL that changed quick for sure. I have the shirts, hats and face shields but I am wondering what you all are wearing for pants. Any suggestions for a wallet friendly yet still comfortable & light with good protection?? Thanks
I love catching fish on a jig. But this year the grass is so thick in the river I can barely work it in the water without pulling out a football size grass mat half way through my retrieve. Any tips for that? Also, still looking for to that spy bait video lol. Thanks for another great video!
Yup a tx rig lol. Matt talks about this i think in thr last vid. If he can get a jig in thetr he will.bit if its to thick and constantly pullin in grass. Time to pitch a tx rig
Great video Matt! I’ve already got a flipping stick , but recently I’ve been thinking about getting a dedicated jig rod. I’ve dialled it down to two rods. Would love your opinion. I’m a St. Croix guy, love the victory line of rods. Think it’s hard to beat for the price point. I primarily fish out of a kayak, but get out on my buddies boats quite often. The two that I’m thinking about are, VTC73HXF VTC75MHF Thanks.
I always have a jig rigged up for a bass. You should check out Epic jigs especially their swim jigs. Awesome colors. Check out the blue gill. You won't be disappointed.
I love the California swim jig. I fish it at Lake Seminole and have lost big fish due to my rod fishing in the extra heavy grass that is there. Every time I fish the CSJ there I loose a big fish there. I know your two favorite rods but I would like to know which rod would you use in that XXXXXX heavy cover. Thanks,
Hey Matt have y’all tried out any of the Falcon cara rods? Super light weight and feel great in the hand. The 7’4 heavy cover jig rod is a great jig rod and I really like it for the swinging jig head. Would love to see you guys give them a try
Question: if I were to try out the micro jig but don’t have a BFS casting reel which would you choose between my two spinning rods. 7 MH-Fast or 6 Light- Mod Fast? And what line would you use with the one you would choose.
Is that a bantam on your expride? If so that’s sick 😂 I have the same set up but I don’t have the 7’11 I have a 7’2 heavy but I use it for heavier jigs and frogging!
Been on a real good jig bite lately, been great! Question for you Matt, I’m a shorter guy, would you say that Expride 7’6” XH would be a good flipping stick too? The 7’11” is just a lot of rod for me personally lol
I'm a bank fisherman. I havnt used jigs too much. Never caught a fish on a jig. I'm in South Dakota. If I want to try jig fishing should I get the 1/2oz pitching jig you talked about? Or the micro jig? Any tips for a bank fisherman?
I thumbs up ALMOST all your videos on this channel. I'm just a poor bankfisherman so I don't watch any of these vids that don't pertain to me. The tips that have helped immensely: colors like junebug & tilapia; Neko rig; T-mac; smaller swimbaits; vibrating jigs; trailer selection; SQUAREBILL CRANKBAITS!
I know this is completely off topic, but I’ve got an issue that I’m trying to resolve so I’ll leave this comment and if anyone is able to help I would really appreciate it. I’ve been recently using a standard rod with a standard spinning reel. Every time I cast my line gets a knot usually it the shape of a circle on the reel. I can’t figure out how to fix it so I was wondering if I should just get a dedicated load out focused on casting and leave that rod for simple worm fishing off a dock or if I should attempt to fix it and save money. Any help would be HEAVILY appreciated 🙏
Why is it so freaking always, that when these videos come out. Every damn bait that's covered in the links, is always on back order. TW needs to step up their game when Tim and Matt drop a video.
I dont get it. One of my fav big fish lakes in MN i found some amazing rock and grasss cover off of a long point right before it drops to 30+ feet and water temps at 79-84 and caught nothing in one area and 12" fish in another. Shouldaa been a prime spot. Jigs, shakey, deep cranks, wobnlehead, glides, etc nothing good. I can only catch big ones in one specific spot thats shalllow but once that is dead its over for the day. I dont gwt it on that lake
Does anybody else base how good the day is gonna be, with the TB Video of the day??!! Just me….

The hook on those is not the best
@@chanceheck6551if you ever bend it you might as well tie a new one on, hook gets really weak after it gets bent.
The hooks on the keitechs are too lite wire. They always bend or just break in my experience.
He’s talking about catching big bass! Lol jk, keitech jigs work great but yes hook bends a lot and breaks. Can’t horse them in for sure.

Thanks again, fellas !
Great video Matt going to try those jigs. I trust in you 👍🏻
Just tied on a football jig for a new lake this Saturday morning. Thanks for the tips as always fellas!
Have to agree on the expride 7’11”, totally changed my heavy cover fishing. Thanks for the tip 👍

I like building my jigs out of boss outdoor jigs. Awesome price, great hooks and great head designs with a ton of different options.
I’ve been crushing them on jigs, middle Tennessee area. Good video bud!!!

New house porch coffee with TB...loving it. I can't wait to get my boat down here to TN.

My favorite video of the year.
I picked up one of those 7’11” exprides in the store the other day. You were not lying. So light yet so strong, didn’t make sense.
It's mind blowing! You would think it has to break, but it doesn't. That rod is a BEAST!!

I’m pitching a jig as we speak right now. Throwing the v&m clif pace flipping jig with a zoom super chunk on it.
I always have a jig tied on all year long!!!!
Thanks Matt! We are struggling here in Jacksonville Fl.😳😳😳

I switch to the kistler jig rod and it’s a 7’3 mh moderate. I’ll never go back to a fast. It’s sooo good
Try a finesse style jig with half of a bulbous tail worm, like a neko worm. Works great for me.

Just my .02....1/4 or 3/16 oz jig with a bigger, bulkier trailer may keep the jig above the grass better

Structure, drop offs, boulders.

I think the lighter weights are the way to go from the bank because you're fishing uphill. At least thats what works for me on other lures.
matt i have a question on rells daiwa or shimano casting? witch one do you use more?
Great video. I can’t get enough of jigs.
Matt, do you ever find with the Curado BFS reel, that the drag very often loosens up on its own?
