Hey Tim, I wanted to take the time to thank you and Matt, I've been fishing since I was 2 and now I am 30. I've fished tournaments with my dad and won but I also fish most days of the year just for fun. In the past 5 years of watching your channel I have drastically increased my catch ratio and beat my pb multiple times in one day thanks to your thorough information. I now feel I can start doing tournaments again with great confidence and I owe it all to my dad, my brother, you and Matt. Thanks for helping me along with my dreams!
I bought a pack of those MIssile Baits Magic Worms before your last video mentioning them. I had like 7 packs of roboworms to choose from but I decided to throw on the magic worm since you guys liked it as the sun rose a couple weeks ago in the early morning on the water. On the third cast I caught 7.25lb monster of a Wisconsin largemouth bass. Thanks for the amazing content and helping me land the northern fish of a lifetime!
Thank you Tim for the exceptional presentation. I look forward to your annual drop shot presentation each summer. Each year I learn a bit more to help me to fish the presentation better. Thank you again.
Definitely a staple here on Lake St Clair. The Bassmaster Elite pros were dialed in on them with the dropshot when they were here. Thanks for another great one!👍🎣
I use swagger tie on weights, but found a steal deal on "normal" drop weights. I took a small pick and opened up the ends on them so you can tie them on instead of just pinching your line.
Great video Tim. I really enjoy when you and Matt select a specific lure or technic and break it down. The drop shot is my go to these days. Perhaps the last 5-6 years. It consistently catches me fish. After watching your video, I've learned some things that I wasn't so much doing wrong but could do better. I'm curious.... what are those red and yellow clips on your rod and where did you get them? My weight lines are always getting snagged on my other rods or something else.
Good job on the video. I'm new to fishing and haven't caught a fish in weeks. I fish from the bank (no boat) made one drop shot rig and lost it on the second cast. Been stocking up on jigs and haven't lost one until today cause it wrapped under a tree and I didn't feel like going full aquaman for a two dollar jig. Up to my neck was enough. I'm going to try this method again. I really like the jigs though as I've gotten them outta a lotta sketchy spots so far. Having taken statistics in college is the only thing keeping me going right now. That and shopping at TW.
Good stuff! Have you guys tried the Glitch or Drop minnow on a dropshot? I never tie a dropshot, I always use a spinshot type hook. What is your opinion on those?
So a question that I have is why does a texas rig style drop shot seem to work here in north central WI seem to work when a typical drop shot rig does not? I use a Berkley powerbait flatworm exclusively.
I have some amazing Honey Holes in NYS !!Please reach out whenever you Guys are in the North East. Tight Lines & thanks for Another Great & Informative Vid 🎣🐟🐟 Fish On !!!🙌🏼
Tim, great job. Have you also tried the Owner down shot offset hooks? Those are great for roboworms, zoom super flukes or Yamamot d-shads on a drop shot setup.
I totally struggle with the drop shot...I can do frog, jig, A rig, swimbait, big swimbait, but the drop shot kick my butt. It would be so helpful for some of my lakes.....
That’s weird that you can do what I consider the more advanced styles , to me drop shot comes down to knowing what depth in the column to fish the right weight etc and a morning dawn roboworm you’re good to go.
On your baitcasting set up with 10lb braid to 10lb fluorocarbon are you still using a blood knot? If so how many wraps braid and how many wraps of fluorocarbon? Thanks
I don't do much bass fishing where I live in New Mexico, but I have always thought that drop shotting would be deadly for large brown trout in rivers. Does anyone have any thoughts on baits and hooks that might fool a large brownie?
Learned to fish, partly by using the dropshot concept, off of the day boats as a child, fishing for sand and calico bass in the Santa Monica Bay, CA. (We called the basic knot and concept a "dropper-loop" [rig], instead.) Interesting, that it has constantly and consistently worked within all of its various forms, forever. It seems more MLF/BPT and BassMaster Elite Series wins have been accomplished partly, if not fully, depending on the dropshot technique (especially in Northern, "Smallie Waters"). The more things change, the more things stay the same...
I was 9 years old at Camp Webb Kentucky, won the fishing part of it were we had to flip and skip and underhand low-hanging branches to hit circle targets, i hit every one of em on a spinning rod ... If you need a baitcaster to do special stuff you can't do on a spinning rod, then you need to go back to the basics lol
I grew up on a highly pressured smaller reservoir. Deep, full of shad, but also had a decent fish population. Just picky fish much of the time. I didn't realize how finesse our presentations were until youtube opened my eyes. But when everyone else was chucking full sized jigs, spinnerbaits, super spooks, and large plastics my dad and I were throwing 4" dead ringers, hand tied jigs with skinny trailers, zara puppies, etc. We caught numbers AND plenty of good fish. I didn't really start throwing bigger stuff until living in the TVA lake ecosystem for about 6 years. But my DEFAULT is finesse, spinning gear, and 6-10lb line. If you practice you can do just about anything.
fishing a drop shot on a spinning rod to get the best accurate cast I use 8lb straight fluorocarbon line on a 24 inch leader light action rod to get the most secitivity for bass
@andrewmazaik8407 -- Thanks. 3/8th is what I usually use, but my drop shot do not look as large as the ones in the video. I was curious what size he had on.
I’ve never understood how a $450 St Croix rod could have exposed threads from the reel seat. How have SC customers not demanded something better? Cheers!

drop shot with a night crawler & inject air into the worm to make it float, I land so many big bass that way.. fun fun. ty for the info!!
😮
The best of the best videos.
Tactical Bassin rocks!
Thank you Tim for the exceptional presentation. I look forward to your annual drop shot presentation each summer. Each year I learn a bit more to help me to fish the presentation better.
Thank you again.
Hurray! Tactical Bassin and coffee. Thanks for all the awesome content over the years!
Same here. With a smokie to boot
Definitely a staple here on Lake St Clair. The Bassmaster Elite pros were dialed in on them with the dropshot when they were here.
Thanks for another great one!👍🎣
It would be sweet to live by St. Clair. Awesome fishing.
@@gpharned blessed to have grown up here on this world class fishery for sure!
I've had outstanding results from drop shot. Fish can see it at their eye level
Great video, thanks for sharing
Awesome video Tim
Thank You Tim. Always learn something new on your videos...
Thank you for the video. Going to a small deep paddle only glacier lake soon. Drop shot is the method I'm want to use in this hot July
Great video and great information. Thanks for sharing.
I use swagger tie on weights, but found a steal deal on "normal" drop weights. I took a small pick and opened up the ends on them so you can tie them on instead of just pinching your line.
Love the vids as always

... nevermind..... I see the LINK below. They're called Cali-Clips. I like them!! Pretty slick.

What is that yellow clip thing added on the rod you were holding the dropshot weight part of the line on?
Haha you answered my question a few minutes later in the video. Thanks man
Good stuff! Have you guys tried the Glitch or Drop minnow on a dropshot? I never tie a dropshot, I always use a spinshot type hook. What is your opinion on those?
Hey Tim, what size weight do you like to use for your medium bait casting drop shot set up?
Great video man! Thank you
Ciao...mi puoi consigliare se usare trecciato o nylon(diametro anche) su mulinello per pesca a dropshot? Grazie e complimenti
So a question that I have is why does a texas rig style drop shot seem to work here in north central WI seem to work when a typical drop shot rig does not? I use a Berkley powerbait flatworm exclusively.
I'm absolutely going to have to get one of those weight/hook keepers.
I have one on alll my rods !!! Well worth it !! Make sure you get the right size for your blank

Another Great & Informative Vid 🎣🐟🐟
Fish On !!!🙌🏼
Tim thanks for the content…what size cali clip fits well on the expride spinning rods?
Tim still rocking that OG NrX
just wondered, could you drop shot a 4" yamamoto grub??
What colors worms would you use for fishing in dark and muddy water
Is there any pros and cons to using a number 1 vs 2 mosquito light hook?
Its been the year of the Drop shot for me this year
Curado 7 foot Med-Lt fast spinning has been a really nice rod
What about the poor bank anglers that don’t have a boat,me for example
Another great video! What is your power shot combo?
Some of the place I fish at has really cold water cuz of the melted off snow. How would I fish a cold water lake when the air temp is scorching hot?
Tim, great job. Have you also tried the Owner down shot offset hooks? Those are great for roboworms, zoom super flukes or Yamamot d-shads on a drop shot setup.

8 plus wraps I think
I don't do much bass fishing where I live in New Mexico, but I have always thought that drop shotting would be deadly for large brown trout in rivers. Does anyone have any thoughts on baits and hooks that might fool a large brownie?
do you ever use the spin shot or swivel shot hooks for dropshoting to help with line twist
I do, less tying
Hey Tim, doesn't Geecrack now have a Bellows Shad?
Learned to fish, partly by using the dropshot concept, off of the day boats as a child, fishing for sand and calico bass in the Santa Monica Bay, CA. Should I be drop shoting in water that has grass and weeds that are pretty much at or below water surface?
Yes. I drop shot the weed edges all the time. Especially little Rock piles along the deep weed edge

Why use a leader if using 8lb fluro? I’m new. I thought only use leader if using braid line??
What size is that Bellows Gill you were using? Is it the 3.8?
Never mind I saw it’s the 2.8 when you held up the package towards the end of the video.
Can anyone recommend a good bfs drop shot lure ??
I thought you were gonna show how to tie on hooks and weights to
What is your favorite knot to tie for the drop shot?
What dictates the size drop shot weight you use? What is the "normal" size?
All depends on the depth you want to fish at and if there’s any current. Id say the “normal” size would be 3/8 oz
@andrewmazaik8407 -- Thanks. 3/8th is what I usually use, but my drop shot do not look as large as the ones in the video. I was curious what size he had on.
Go as light as you can while feeling the bottom well with depth and wind. I find a 1/4oz works well most of the time
Are you guys ever going to go live one day? 😉
I’ve never understood how a $450 St Croix rod could have exposed threads from the reel seat. How have SC customers not demanded something better? Cheers!
Thank you for all of the videos. Quick question- What is the hook keeper you are using now? A yellow one?
In the video
I fish in heavily stained water. How about doing a dirty water, tin boat fishing video?
We've done a few 👍🏼 Search "tacticalbassin no electronics" for one from earlier this year.
Why not use a BFS baitcaster for a drop shot?
Check the 22 min mark in the video. It's mentioned there
Can't agree that most are throwing a shakey head, i feel like a drop shot is the most used presentation out there. But it works
Here in Alabama it Shakey head by far
@@shanedarden5238 cool. I like to hear how it is in other places. What depths are you typically fishing?
@@fishncoach8699 1 to 12 feet lol
Bass how can you do it
I tie a T knot on my dropshot to get a lil distance between the line and bait. Plus more action.
Slow down and SHOW us the packages. We only saw flashes of the baits.
Tim do u have a brother named terry
"Working" a drop shot rig is not that fun to me as opposed to other techniques and rigs... I have turned to it to get a bite when it's been tough tho.
Why do anglers have something against spinning rods ?
Because they overspend on baitcasters.
Casting rods are more technique specific, while spinning rods are more general purpose
What kind of knots do y'all use. Kind of skipped over that.
Palomar. Use a FG knot for braid to leader but make sure you keep it tight when doing the wraps or it'll slip.
I throw a 5 oz weight, deps 250 drop shottin' w/100 lb. Braid for crappies....hmmm..wait...that was a dream...nevermind
It's a reality for snapper
