That has got to be one of the if not the coolest stoves I have ever seen! You should show us what everything does. OBTW It isn't from the 60's. More like 40's or early 50's.
Just want to say - your video on this has been invaluable to me. There aren't a lot of resources out there for us and yours is so great as sort of intro to how they are generally set up. Thank you for sharing. These old ovens definitely deserve to be restored and this knowledge out there can really help that happen more!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this. I don’t make any money from these videos and knowing that it helped you really makes this worth while for me
Thanks for the tip about the pilot light and the small hole in the valve. I'm fixing my O'Keefe and Merritt and that's the first time I've seen that, very helpful.
Are all the front doors broilers or ovens? Why are there 8? Perhaps more cooking took place, or they were less efficient requiring separate flames for smaller dishes? Thinking the bottom drawers might just be warming drawers.
From left to right: the Grillevator (a broiler), an oven, another oven. Underneath: a hot drawer, the griddle storage, storage drawer. On the tower there is another over and on the very top, a hot drawer. Plus 6 burners.
Is this a commercial stove? I have seen lots of vintage stoves, but they were tons smaller than this one!! What is behind each door? What a treasure!!! Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely gorgeous work. We have an old Wedgewood---nice to look at but terrible to clean. My question is also how to clean behind it. Those gas lines get so filthy and full of dust bunnies, but we can't lift it to clean them.
For anyone that watched this, DO NOT use the aluminum foil and Coca Cola method!!! It just adds more scratches and swirls! Use a SS cleaner or even Easy Off Oven Cleaner or Barkeepers Friend liquid. But nothing abrasive!! You’re welcome!
Hey, thank you! Any idea on how to fix a door clasp? Ours is very similar, just a different configuration.. I've been lighting with a clicker for 2 yrs cuz I was scared to leave the pilot burning so thank you, I am lifting the hood and upgrading it now!! :-D
I repair the same equipment except in a newer "body". The principles and parts are the same. I do have to question why you used white (for water) pipe dope, when you should have used Yellow (for gas)? I see this at work with some of the "out of the trade" engineers work on kitchen equipment. Not knocking you, just asking out of curiosity.
Hi. I used rector seal RectorSeal T Plus 2 pipe thread sealants are a non-setting, multi-purpose compound which contains PTFE, plus synthetic fibers to create a stronger seal. Recommended for use on threaded galvanized steel, iron, brass, copper, aluminum, stainless steel, polyethylene, fiberglass reinforced, PVC, CPVC and ABS pipe. T Plus 2 may be pressurized immediately following application. Teflon-enriched synthetic fibers create a strong seal Compatible with metal and plastic pipe Suitable for use in potable water systems and uses with a wide variety of other gases and liquids
O’keefe & Merrit -Los Angeles, Ca That’s where you will most likely find one Almost exact same stove Wedgewood -Oakland, Ca Where are you we will mostly run into one of these You’ll pay between two and $400 for one Maybe $1200 to restore I restored mine myself for about $700
I’ve notice people spraying paint parts on various videos and using various cleaning products your the first to mention the cleaning products but did you paint any of the burners to stop rust? I’m in the process of restoreing my stove
How do the control knobs come off? Specifically, the oven one on my 50's Wedgewood is really hard to turn and I'd like to attempt to grease the core. Any thoughts? Thanks

Late 40,s
It’s a 1949 aristocrat model, not 1960’s as I had figured

Always loved stoves
Thanks for the tip about the pilot light and the small hole in the valve. I'm fixing my O'Keefe and Merritt and that's the first time I've seen that, very helpful.
So beautiful! I’ve always love O’Keefe and Merritt stoves. we just bought a 1952 Tappen and it is very charming
Made from aprox. 48-52, only an estimated 600 made. Came in either a left or right stack configuration.
Thanks for lots of great info! I’m about to start restoring our oven! Same brand, just a different model.
OMG that is gogeous. Can you give us a full tour of the stove sometime?
Aristocrat is from 1949. I have the same stove.

You are correct!!
I was going to say that that’s not from the 60s. I’m from the 60s and the 60s stoves didn’t look like that. My guess was 30s or 40s.
@@phoebedigs1356 it was from the 40s.

It’s residential
I need the newest up-to-date version of this brilliant 👏 😍
No updates but glad you enjoyed
Thanks for the video. I'm restoring an old Acorn stove

How fo u clean inside
This is not a 1960s stove. It’s from the 1940s. Look at the Art Deco-style chrome work and the relatively tall legs. I’d say it’s pre-1950.
You are correct , it’s 1949
For anyone that watched this, DO NOT use the aluminum foil and Coca Cola method!!! It just adds more scratches and swirls! Use a SS cleaner or even Easy Off Oven Cleaner or Barkeepers Friend liquid. But nothing abrasive!! You’re welcome!
Good advice. But that won’t remove heavy rust

No idea sorry
How did you restore the paint/enamel
It’s original

Please do tell me what the name of this range is! I need one in my life! Can you give me the model name? I’m hoping it’s a Westinghouse!

No I did not
Is there a spring behind the tempature control switch for the oven?
No
How do the control knobs come off? Specifically, the oven one on my 50's Wedgewood is really hard to turn and I'd like to attempt to grease the core. Any thoughts? Thanks
They just pull out
Hey i got the back two burners to automatically light with the knobs, any clues why the front two may be off?
Check your orifices they might be clogged with grease
Did you sand and re-paint the outside? If so, what products did you use for that part of the renovation?
thankfully it lives in Arizona so outside of a tiny bit of rust on the chrome I didn’t actually have to repaint anything
Wish I have a house for that stove. ♡♡♡. ITS.
Where is a good location to find electric 1950 stove parts
eBay!!
I have an old stove I want to sell. How would I sell it ?
eBay!
I want a that can I?
What does a stove like that cost after restoration?
About $12k, from what I’ve seen.
Exactly
That's still always from the 1940s. Not the 1960s that's why you can't find anything
You are correct 1949
