You the man. I put headgaskets on my samurai. 1.6 8v and i put it in time and stabbed the distributor and when i got it all done and hit the key she fired right up. Thanks Tony. *OHHHH YEA*
I love your explanations. Dumbed down more than I needed personally, but dudes, for ppl to absorb in lam-ins term so freaking amazing. Your videos are spot on. 🍺 cheers ladies and gents.
Hey Tony, Thanks for all the great vids, I just put a reman head on my 96 x90 5 spd, I did it once b4 and had to figure out the timing, which I did then, but the valve seals were bad in that one so I got a reman, and I got confused again, I rotated the crank while it apart, then rotated the cam separate, Then I thought I had everything right and tried to adjust valves which I couldn't, I had everything set right before I took it apart, but this time I could remember how I did that, I had cam and crank marks at 12, belt on, rotated 2 times, and it looked good but the vales were wrong, after a while I figured I had the cam 90 degrees off, so I took the belt off, moved it, and then the valves were good, and everything lined up, , after putting it all back together, I tried starting and it acted like it was gonna start for half a second then just cranks, won't start?? now what?
@@Hwy83SUZUKI I'm looking to buy a 87 so doing a CRASH learning course on these I know NOTHING about, supposedly the engine had been rebuilt, are there any specific things I need to pay careful attention to while looking at it & driving it B4 I buy?? Thanks for ANY help
I love your video. Thank you for doing them. I have an 1987 Suzuki samurai I'm replacing the camshaft seal and crankshaft seal when I put them in are they supposed to be flush?
Gd day sir TONY, been watch all round ur vlogs over suzuki's ,,, especially Sammy's,,, how much if i buy timing kit( belt, bearing ) + water pump?? So hard 2 find sammy parts here in phillipines,,, much appreciate for ur response,,,
Very well explained. I have a question. I have suzuki swift 1987 model with 3 cylinder 1000cc engine. My cam pulley is just like yours. Plz tell me which mark of cam to be alligned when cylinder 1 is at TDC
Okay tony I have a 88 samurai that I can't get timed right I replaced the coil and replaced the carburetor but still have a serious backfire through the exhaust any suggestions to get it straightened out
I don't know if you still read new comments on older videos but there's an e and an I on my cam. I have the 1.6l engine. There looks like a timing mark on the harmonic balancer but could be where someone dinged it. It doesn't quite line up with they key slot. I'm kind of lost here
On the 16V engine point the E on cam gear at 12 o clock, harmonic balancer pulley at 12 o clock. Then the distributor pointing at #4 cylinder to set timing
Great videos and explanations, I have a 96 geo tracker i did the timing and distributor pointing at cylinder 4 im getting spark and fuel but the tracker won't start any idea what can be the issue my fuel gauge is not working due to rats eat the wire from top of the gas tank but fuel pump is good and all the hoses ,the car cranks and try to start but I just can get it to run thank you very much and God bless 😉
This is very common, the plastic timing belt cover warps overtime from the engine heat. Then it will rub on the timing belt. You can replace the cover and you'll be good for awhile until the process repeats
my problom is , i have no compression i replaceed the timeing belt after the belt broke , and i saw you said something about tricking the computer will that work it get the timeing back or what the f---k did i do ? can you tell me from what ive told you ? if you need more infoe let me know , PLEASE! Is it usually the 4th piston used for timing in other cars? Even if they have different timing marks?

Follow instructions on video then check with a timing light to dial in
does the escudo and the vitara uses the same engine parts or gasket kit

We have another video showing the timing process for 96 model 1.6L 16v engine
@@Hwy83SUZUKI thank you have a great weekend
So can you change the front seals without having to time it with the timing gun thanks for the informative video's
Is this the same as the 1994 8 valve tracker ?
Yes it is. Samurai 1.3L 8v is same procedure as 1.6L 8v found in geo tracker
Is a jumper wire needed to dial in timing like with the 16v? I have a 1990 Tracker.
89 and 90 model do not need, they have a vacuum advance distributor
@@Hwy83SUZUKI awesome, Thank you I was hoping it was something simple!

Tyler Bigelow belts are non interference but chains are interference

Hi men
ONE MORE THING . YOU THINK I BENT VALVES? BECOUSE I DONT WHANT TO TAKE THE HEAD OFF
Nooooo DX Why does no one show how to remove the timing belt. I'm gonna fckn break it DX
There is one 12 mm bolt on the tensioner bearing. Loosen that that will take the pressure off the belt and it will slide right off

nvm we torched them off
So I followed you method exactly and don't work.
