“I prefer tea then coffee.”
- People who have a drinking problem
Im dying for this reply lol😭😂
Haha, English teacher for 30 years, this was funny 😆 I would have given you extra credit for creativity
I prefer coffee!
Or maybe "I prefer tea 2 coffee
My only problem with this question is that I prefer coffee to tea!
As a 62 year old man from Sweden, I passed 9 out of 15. I thought it was damn good, even though I did not finish school. Dropped out after half 8th grade (elementary school grades 1-9) and started working at the age of 15. Early retiree since 10 years ago after a traffic accident.
well done! you’re a fighter
got his whole life story in the comment section of an english grammar test
From the text I just read I have to say that I respect you.
How do you have this good grammar and you only got 9/15
Why did u drop out tho
Thanks for letting me know its coffee TO tea!! I was really confused when what I thought wasn't even an option
Were you thinking about 'over'?
Lol
I thought it's THAN

15/15. I'm French speaker and I found this test pretty easy. Highschool questions were way harder.
+1
Yeah me too
Agree.
Wtf i speak english natively and missed some LMAO
@@101ified Maybe it’s due to your local dialect. 😉
I had a very strict English teacher when it comes to grammar so this was pretty mild compared to the tests she gave me and I’m glad honestly
Good for you
Same
It's not a hard test tbh
"I had" past tense, so "came to". Also needs a comma after "grammar" and a full stop at the end.
Not strict enough!
@@christopherdean1326 well we are in UA-cam so we dont need to have fully correct grammar. I know my grammar as well as anyone, but we dont need it all the time. I just use the bare minimum of grammar in my comments, and almost none if im making a joke
15/15, I’m currently a 13 year old who lives in the US. I found this test to be quite easy. I bet my English teacher would be glad to know that UA-cam agrees with my actual education.
Wow. Bravo. Keep up the good work. You have a wonderful bright future ahead of you. Good luck.
Well done!
15/15 .... but #10 was a trick question. Everyday talk: "THESE" scissors are useless.
Nobody says "THIS PAIR" is useless. Sure, "this" is singular and thus gets the singular verb "is".... But the word "scissors" describes a single object..... that object is useless without BOTH parts to complete it. Nobody has ever heard of "a scissor" except as an adjective..... i.e. The easiest way to swim is using a SCISSOR kick. Thus it is MOST commonly spoken .... These scissors ARE too dull to cut butter.
Thank you, that one annoyed me, too!
agreed thank you
Everyday speech is a big reason that English is becoming corrupted and why tests like this are needed. Whilst I agree that people might take 'short cuts' when speaking, that is no excuse for not teaching English correctly. Sadly the correct use of grammar and pronunciation is slipping in the UK, with many speaking what one might call 'estuary' English.
#4
Hidden option E:
Over
That one works too!
Yes i was also thinking same
Yea I prefer this one over the other four answers too👍
over > to - I have never heard of "to prefer X to Y", and it was the only question I got wrong.
@@Usiek1992 i got it right because thats how it works on my language
I'm totally not taking these just to feel like I'm good at something even though English is my first language..
English is not my first language but it’s like the only thing I averagely good at rather than anything else 💀
@@nuriznisofea6785 Yeah ironically English is the easiest language for me. I always got As on my exams back in my school days.
What did you score though

Same here!
Same here too!
11/15 Not so bad as I thought (because I'm not native speaker) Thank you for these tests
yay good job
Bravo 👏 🎉 Great job!
I'm French, and I got 15/15. To be honest, this test was TOO easy, the questions I get in high school are waaaaay harder.
I think it was made for esl people
15/15. I learned all of my English self-taught and from TV as a child, and honestly only one question was difficult for me and it was still recognizable. I've seen way harder stuff but this was cool.
I learned English in America and I still got three wrong
15/15 without pausing. But, even as a native speaker, I found this one pretty difficult.
i actually got 15/15 but i am native German speaker 😂
I got 15/15 without pausing and I'm also a native German speaker :3
And im a Slovak speker and i am 11 15/15
same.. and I am native Korean speaker😁
i am vietnamese, i used to suck at english but i did it 14/15. false at 10. didnt know scissors is correct word
15/15. Now create a test where the words too, two, to, there, their, they're and other variants of sorts similar to these words are used interchangeably to put an actual challenge on the table. These types of words are the ones even native english speakers mess up the most frequently and honestly that needs to be addressed.
I was educated abroad and I found this rather easy and entertaining. 15 /15.
15/15.
Tricky, confusing but quite easy for me.....
I have been an English teacher for years at a stretch!!
This quiz brought back to me fond memories of my students, collegues and coteachers !!
Many Thanks.💛💛
Seema - Please stop lying . You scored 12 and I saw it myself
13/15.
Even though English is my mother tongue, I am living 51 years in a country that the language there is different, and when I came I was only 10 years old . I still try to use English as much as possible.
13/15.
At 1:05, I picked A. Which is "Than" instead of D. Which is "To". At 3:31, I didn't got the chance to answer because I was wondering. But I was aware that the answer was letter C, but I thought it was wrong.
3:54, I picked A. Which is "Taller than" instead of D. Which is "Tall as."
It should have been “than” though…
@@bryladam “than” could be used in “I like tea *better than* coffee.” but if you have “i prefer” it would make more sense to put “to”
idk abt you but as a native english speaker “than” just sounded wrong there
For a native English speaker this should have been easy. For someone where English is a 2nd language your replies were heart warming. Explanations would help them
Although I only got 8/15, I will continue to work hard. And thanks for the test.😚
15/15. Thank you so much for this video! This is a good chance for me to refresh my memory and relearn the basics.

This was easy. As a french, i found this wasnt difficult at all even i didnt / never attend English class in France before. But i was in school with Brits ,so this explains a lot.
i hope this can solve some problems or maybe make more problems.
15 of 15! I went to school when they still taught grammar. Thank God!!
I'm a 64 year old high school drop out. However, I did go to community college a few years and read quite a bit. I also write short stories as a hobby.
I scored 14/15, missing number 5. I think the most common error writers make is using too many words so I'm always looking for ways to remove them. I removed the "the" from tallest.
You're like me... Old enough to go to school before the purposed and planned dumbing down became severe. We were taught how to think critically. Now they are taught not to.
To
I thought "tallest" or "the tallest" were both acceptable. I wouldn't say "tallest among" anyway. I might say "the tallest of".
Because you are 64 you had a better education in general in comparison to the dumbed down 80's. That, to my mind, is when things took a drastic turn for the worst in English grammar education. I am 56 & it was very important for the teacher to correct ones grammar whilst we were in the classroom. We were not allowed to make errors. Now the teaches are told to leave well alone in case of offending. Sorry but it is not offensive to be an English teacher & correct. Kids are in the classroom to learn & if they make mistakes then they should be corrected.
@@susanford2388 All planned and purposed by the elites who run the world. Charlotte Iserbyte, Secretary of Education under Reagan, agrees with your assessment and explains in her books and documentaries how the planned dumbing down came to be.
13/15. So glad I saw this, I was able to prepare for my test
How was the test?
I’m a fluent English speaker and I got sung and sang confused like hell 😂
My understanding is that the preposition "to" is used in a noun to noun comparison. For example, Mike prefers golf to tennis.
"Than" should be used in comparison when used in comparison when using adjectives. For example, Shelley is taller than I."
Thanks for telling me this!
@@carlyncook1211 Well, the noun to noun comparison does make perfect sense.
Furthermore, the word "than" can be used as a preposition AND a conjunction.
"Shelley is taller than me."
I got 11/15 I recommend that you explain the correct answer and say why it’s correct and others are wrong so we can improve our English even better 😄
Am I the only one who's first language is English but is still taking this test to see how good I really am at English?
Right??😂me too
15/15 😁
I'll be honest: anyone who has English as their first language should be a little disappointed if they didn't get them all right.
Okay this was really easy. I’m a foreigner myself, not a native, I learned English when I was 20 and I’m 36 now, and this was very easy.
14/15, sisters-in-law was tricky for me as I always see that word around but almost never use it when I type/speak

15/15 as a native English speaker. So glad that I do not have to think about all the weird rules and exceptions of the language. If it were not my first language, I would probably struggle so much.
15/15 Not a native speaker. No need to really think either. The only one that got a bit weird is the pair of scissors. Which is one thing that is a multiple of things, which can be a bit confusing.
15/15! That was a great test. Keep them coming
I got 14/15 . But I improve myself through ur videos thank u

I prefer tea than coffee or to coffee? I'm confused here
Yeah me too,I think we need someone to explain it
It's to.
@@Oeugh why tho?
@@lanceethan idk ask the guy who invented the english grammar. Thats how it's always been.
It's a matter of how you structure the sentence.
"I would rather drink tea than coffee. "
"Tea is preferred over coffee."
"I prefer coffee to tea."
I am Russian. I answered 14 correctly. I made a mistake in "I prefer tea" than"

On a serious note, what a reflection of the state of education and decline in English language teaching (certainly since I was a boy) that this is even a test for those who speak English.

This was rather simple. They should do one for those confused about use of there, their and they're. Along with, to and too. Many graduates of high school, and even college, that do not know the difference. That is quite a large deficit.

15/15 Thank you for the informative video!
15/15 I am an English teacher from the Philippines who taught in the US.
#5 could also be D. Drooping the preposition "the" is perfectly acceptable in this sentence.
#10 could also be B - "scissors are". In fact B is preferable. You would never say that your trousers IS torn.
#5: No. The article (not preposition) "the" is necessary. Just change the sentence a bit: "I am the tallest student in my class." You can't drop the article like in "I became first in this race."
#10: "These scissors are useless" or "This pair of scissors is useless". But the first one wasn't an option.
No, it just sounds wrong without the "the"
Also in 10, you are talking about the PAIR, not the scissors. If you say a PAIR of trousers then it is acceptable to say is. If you just say TROUSERS, then in that case you use are
You are so confidently wrong in both cases.
scored 08/15, thanks for the test
