    My 2018 350excf i bought on 82 hour's and have had exactly same issue. Rode lovely all sunday pulled in for half hour to get drink and food. Stopped for like 40mjns started her up and straight away loss of power and couple little pops and powerloss and then cuts out. Kept trying to start her up she started for like 10 seconds or so then cuts out.
    The battery is obviously original so bought new one and hopefully thwt will at least make her turn over. If it dont turn over ive probably cooked the starter motor.
    But im definitely now ordering new fuel filters
    Thanks for info man

      Sorry to hear about your issues! This is one of the reasons why I wanted to post this video so we can all help each other out with our solutions to problems we encounter. A fuel filter could not be a bad thing! Good luck and if you happen to think about it, check back in and let me know what you did to fix it! Cheers, and good luck!

    The first thing to remember is pull your spark plugs. They can tell you a lot. But at this point put new plugs in. Always carry spare plugs.

    Also consider a fuel sock to catch any crap that may come out of the fuel pump or a dirty container...also you can get a Golan filter which is better and cleanable to replace the small witch-hat filter in the quick-connect line...finally taco moto has a 'mother of all fuel filters' to replace the mahle filter in the tank...all these will greatly reduce the chance of any crap getting into the pump and/or injector 👍🤘

    17 FE 350. Had about 12,000 miles with the identical issues and I checked everything exactly the way you did with the exception of my having a second tank to experiment with.
    Replaced the filter with one from NAPA and it starts instantly again and the wheelie power came back.
    FWIW, I just want to know how far I could push the filter change. Now it’ll be a yearly event unless I put a new pump in. For that, I’ll go 6 months.
    Thanks for the post. I’m sure it’ll be a wake up call for those wondering why their bikes not starting and has less power.

      Sounds like you got some good miles out of yours! One the 1st of the year I’m going to change fuel filters on all my FI bikes! That way it will be easy to keep track of! Thank you for a great comment! Happy Thanks Giving!

    Interesting.
    Are you saying you plan to change the pump every 60 hrs or the in-tank filters? I got 290 hrs on my original pump and still going. You popped in a different complete in-tank assembly and fixed the problem? Please let your viewers know when you finally dissect the failed pump filter assembly. Is it pump alone? Is it the pump dumping pump bits into discharge filter and reducing fuel pressure?
    Thanks for the video.

    • @TRCa51
      @TRCa51  4 роки тому

      Thank you for letting me clarify...I plan on changing the in tank filters every 60 hours! I put a spare 3.1 0r 3.2 gallon tank with a complete new fuel pump assembly already installed! She fired right up and ran well! I was out at the Hammers riding some old King of the Motos loops so I didn't want the extra bulk of the large tank so I removed the complete pump out of the big tank and installed it in the factory tank.I do believe from what I have read the the pumps discharge bits and plug up the filters and reduce pressure. Now I know the symptoms and they were gradually getting worse! I will always have a spare pump with me ready to install stored in the Adventure Truck! I was happy to fix it and not rune a 4 day trip at the hammers! Great to hear from you BlackBuzzzard!

      @@TRCa51 I ride solo great distances into backcountry. So ktm reliability is on my mind! An entire KTM in tank assembly (spare) would cost me $325 including discount. Then there's the power regulator, then there's the injector.......and on and on. I'm giving serious thought to a NEW 2018 last-of-carbed ktm 250 ec-w 2stroke. Still lots of them at dealers at great discounts.. A spare bike is the ultimate spare parts kit in your trailer. I cant anticipate what might break and have a full kit of parts. Drop a grand on spare parts I may never need, or a new 250 for 7800 ????? Wife might yell at me if I get another orange machine.

      @@BlackBuzzzard I always love the spare bike concept! LOL! I don't know if mine was a fluke thing but I will stay up on the filters from now on! I didn't get left stranded but happy to know a little bit more about the system as I too ride solo a lot in the back country! .

    Was it just the filter or was it the fuel pump?

    • @TRCa51
      @TRCa51  2 місяці тому

      We think it was the fuel pump starting to come apart and plugging up the filter. So I just replaced the whole assembly.

    Hi I have a ktm 2014 sxf electric start it’s trying to start but wen I disconnect the fuel line from the clip push a screw driver in no fuel comes out can u hep

    • @TRCa51
      @TRCa51  Рік тому +1

      I believe the line you’re talking about which is the fuel line to the fuel injector carburetor has a filter in it but when you disconnect it, it’s set up to seal itself off. There’s a little screen inside that area so I would say change your filter and hook it back up and see if that works. And please let me know if that worked. Most bikes come with a couple replacement filters in the bag you get with the bike.

    Will fuel injector work if battery dead

    • @TRCa51

      I do not believe so. I’ve seen some guys carry a spare 9 V battery to run the electronics when the battery is dead and you bump start it. Sorry, I couldn’t be more knowledgeable on that subject!
