I always use 3 Bond Grey on my cylinder o-ring counterbores and dab a little on the mating surfaces of the case like you showed. I’ve heard the M8’s are worse yet. The dozen or so big bore kits I’ve put on them haven’t leaked (knock on wood) but I used sealer on them out of habit from all the TC work I’ve done. That’s also one nice thing I can say about the M8, for better or worse, it’s got a lot of commonality with the TC, even if the specific parts won’t interchange easily they designs are more or less the same minus the single/twin cam difference and the 4 valve heads.
Tatro Machine I totally agree. I’m not sure why they went with o-rings on the twin cans anyways, it was a bad design. They went back to actual base gaskets on the M8 I noticed.
Guys always have lintless cloth rags or coffee filters to wipe your cylinders out with never use a used rag you never know what might be on it the sealent to use on your cases is I know I'm gonna get flack for this one but Yama bond from Yamaha is excellent anileak sealent but if it's not you cup of joe then use what ever but I've used Yama bond for 52 years my motors don't leak
i use 3 bond sealer and it has worked good for me over the decades too. 1st wipe, dirty rag, 2nd pass gets the clean rags. not everyone has filters or lint free rags. actually i have never seen them myself. old diapers and shirts work the best. tatro
Tatro Machine now that you point it out I’m not sure I’ve ever seen you laugh in one of your videos. Maybe when you were doing tuning work on your landspeed sporty, I can’t remember. No more jokes, I promise!
not letting them sit on a damp surface would have helped to. the oil would not have been enogh to stop the rust. if you bagged and boxed them you would be good. tatro
I have a 3.5 inch wide by 8 inches long diamond plate that I surface my cases with it's course on one side and fine on the other get one at an axe shop
You know a man is good when he can do that by hand and get the right finish.
🤣😂🤣
"Pretty Simple. Don't be stoopid."🤣 Laughin so hard...dang near hurt myself! 😂

yes the three bond will stop the leaks most of the time but we shouldn't have to do that. it sure makes more work for the next guy.

i like this guy. everything is "stupid" lol. sonds like me
What year are these cases
A light coat of oil would go a long way to stop that surface rust.
