sir, in question at 2:24:00 (GATE-XE24) they haven't mentioned u(y) neither did they mentioned about linear velocity profile. so on what basis do we make these assumptions?

If u is not the function of y only & not varying linearly, they will mention in question.
This is the case of SIMPLE COUETTE flow, i taught this in complete detail on PLUS.
