I use the very narrow elastic, that was used for masks for my loop closures. Since it is very narrow, it fits neatly under the bias tape. It is also available in an unlimited variety of closure.

The fabric looks like a knit at first. What a great take on a basic top.

Your top looks great! I didn't buy this pattern because Tiana's Closet PDF patterns has the exact same pattern for wovens available for free, called the Salma top. If I ever want to make it, I will print it out. By the way, there is a sew along for that pattern here on UA-cam. Anyway, you can exchange the fabric loop for a thin gros ribbon (I burn the ends to stop fraying) or make a loop with thick thread. Problem solved! 🙂
