I'm not sure the writers knew any of the events of the original series but this episodes plot with Aelita being tricked by a Specter again for her parents has been done several times in the original show. The fact that at the very least she didn't even question that message or asked one of her friends to go with her to the manor in case something wrong happened screams bad writing.

Code J-MAN Exactly, after the events of Distant Memory from season 4 Aelita should have questioned if it really was her mother or not. Deactivate the Tower and see if the emails/instant messages would continue. But it seems like the writers forgot about all of this. But they did managed to give William a great character at least.

I mean come on Aelita, you were literally hugged by your "mom" for an unusual amount of time, you have to let go of her at some point. How the hell did she not hear Jeremie being attacked by the specter??!! And for the worst part of it all: There are *_LITERALLY_* green specter particles floating around your face Aelita!!! What more proof do you even need at this point that it was a fucking trap???!!!!
the show also thinks that everyone except aelita have never been able to enter towers before evolution, despite everyone regularly using them in the base show. i guess they didnt watch the whole thing before making it, and theyve never heard of a way tower lol

I don't get why they didn't just continue this as a cartoon. While watching this I feel like there's an off screen film version of lyoko that code lyoko évolution continued from. It's like the evolution is independent of the cartoon and in a different universe. Besides if the animators were able to do all this 3D animation of the warriors on lyoko why couldn't they do a cartoon?? And seriously Yumi and Ulrich are STILL GOING ON friend zoning each other.??? Meh. It was one episode. I still don't trust Laura. She's too sketchy. She's always looking to get involved with a group she's practically forced herself into. She for some reason has a problem with Aelita which is a big no no in my book. She keeps on looking for trouble out of curiousity. She's a good ally don't get me wrong, but there's just something off about her.
So why would Aelita will be mad at Jeremy if she knows that Xana sent a polymorphic clone to earth and transform to Aelita's mother? Is she sad because she isn't allowed to hug Xana?
Her emotions were clouding her logic. I mean she lost her father not even a full year prior and hadn’t seen her mother for almost 20 years, despite having a family in the form of the Lyoko Warriors Aelita still deeply longs for some kind of connection to her past. With her current emotional state she’d naturally correlate her ‘mother’ going away with Jeremie
