Totally! The Penny Farthing! Tangentially, there’s an amazing little film free on V*meo called “the rider and the wolf” about bike builder (and Penny Farthing builder & racer) Mike Rust.
@@sergiodemichele6295 im actually looking at him and thinking, yeah, im gonna go for that look. Its cool. Then I realise girls probably don't dig Penny Farthing riders
It was brilliant wasn't it. Won Combativity awards on last year's 18th and 19th stages (Asgreen's and Mohoric's, with that legendary Mohoric interview about how many amazing riders deserve stage wins), plus the overall Combativity award. And then finally gets his career achievement moment a year later.
I am so happy for Victor. As a TT guy I’ve been following him for years and love all his aero research, tips and tricks and his overall aggressive riding style.
This tour has had some great stories. Cav taking Eddys record, Girmay practically sewing up green, Bardet getting yellow, Carapaz getting a stage and yellow, pogi and Jonas going toe to toe, the rise of Remco. A tour for the ages!
Reminded me of Alison Jackson's expression when she won the 2023 Paris Roubaix. Exhaustion, shock, elation, confusion - just a thermonuclear bomb of emotion.
What an amazing TdF. Bardet gets a yellow, great GC podium fights, Girmay smashing it, and now Campy with the win. Sure every rider in this race works incredibly hard throughout, most of the time to get little or nothing in return, but I'm so happy to see Bardet and Campy get their reward for being amazing riders.
There could not be a more deserving rider to win that stage. Standup guy and what a hard worker. The guy does everything under the sun to optimize body, mind and bike 🫡
And remember who won the Combativity award the day Mohoric beat Asgreen on the line. Victor Campenaerts. Almost the exact thing Mohoric was talking about when he said so many riders deserve stage wins.
Since I’ve been watching cycling, I’ve always seen campy in the break, just cooking, or bringing the peloton back… never saw him win. Was sooooo excited to see it finally happen!
Brilliant win! Thank you, LR for highlighting the post-stage winner's interview. In some ways, despite all the marginal gains, cycling remains an impenetrable, conservative sport, its structures the overlay of years and years of embedded heritage and fine margins. Like Matej Mohoric's emotional outlay, last year, it is exceptional to hear a rider break out of strict team hierarchy and express himself freely and passionately, untethered from a team's PR: a needy reminder that our sport is not a sport of automatons but living, breathing, suffering human beings.
Remembering what he gave of himself to try and get Eenkhoorn the stage win on last year's stage 18 and keep Philipsen away. Then the next day him and Simon Clarke attacking the breakaway 59km out. One of the true "that guy deserved a TdF stage win in his career" guys in the sport.
Always loved this guy's riding style and interviews, but this tops them all. Such genuine happiness and relief pouring out of him, it must be a tough old sport sometimes especially for riders at the fringes.
Been a Kwiato fan since 2013 so I was pulling for him, but super happy for Campenaerts to win. Always up there, at the front of breakaways just drilling it (the reason the breakaway with Asgreen last year beat the sprinters). So deserving of this!
Agreed. Kwiato's done the most of the job in this breakaway (taking 2 km long pulls and taking over again after 0.5km) and had no answer for Campenaerts during the sprint, but I'm happy for Campenaerts. Dude played it brilliantly tactically.
@@TrykusMykus Usually it's Campenaerts burying himself and costing himself in the end. Big Kwiatkowski fan too but this one time, I wanted Victor to win. Love that he even admitted he played it a bit sneaky for once, playing up tiredness when it came to not pulling at the front as often. If ever there was a guy who deserved one time holding it back for the finish.
Vocsnor is an amazing guy. Fantastic cyclist, great personality. His UA-cam videos are very interesting. As he said in one of his videos: he might not be the most talented rider, but for sure one of the most hard working pros in the peloton. He strictly follows his training schedules and is very focused. But also very humble and with a good sense of humour. Love the interview.
I am a Kwiato fan as a fellow Pole, but I was super happy for Victor -- he always turns himself inside out working for his leaders (last year's TdF stage won by Mohoric springs to mind) and he is one of those guys who is always keen to improve on the tech front, while also being quite candid and open about it.
VC’s interview at the end tremendous. Video of him FaceTiming his son so awesome too. We’re just three too many Jasper Phillipsen wins from a perfect tour this year.
@@thomy2562 bro hes just been a dangerous rider recently its kinda rough and he's had some really controversial moves, not really hard to see why, he could have easily cause some major crashes in this year's as well as last's tour
Congrats Victor! Your efforts and trainings were rewarded today and you made your family proud, I'm sure of that. Download this video and watch it 18 years from now with your kid! Chapeau!
there was more to this interview, i think he was distinguishing between praising his fellow teammates as in the other riders (maybe his DS & soigneurs etc for this tour too, not sure) and in calling out the poor management of his bosses
What a heart warming interview. Every cycle racing fan loves Victor Campanaerts. Hes an awesome athlete, and I wish him all the best for his future as an athlete and as a father.
Everone love Campy, I was screaming at the TV the last 100 meters, Interesting how he threw the team management under the bus, now it's their loss and Visma's gain that he is leaving at the end of the year.
Bravo a lui ! from France. His story with struggling to get a good contract with a baby en route is moving. Seeing him happy is really great, so well deserved.
So happy Victor finally won a stage. I love that dude. Absolute beast on the bike, underrated, amazing team player, and you can tell he's a great person too. Edit: Great to see Carapaz and Victor get their stage wins finally. Both the most deserving riders this year imo.
It's a Long Way to the Top, If You Wanna Rock 'N' Roll and Win the Tour Stage! Can't imagine the blood sweat and tears!! Congrats Victor and the Team!!!
Well done victor , by pure coincidence i watched a vid of Victor training at altitude for tdf with his wife and new born and i decided that must be really tough for the whoke family 💪
Blue skies. What a brilliant way to sum up fatherhood! I can understand his sentiment even when I'm not a father. Congrats to him on some great tactical racing today!
I watched the whole stage live. He actually played extremely smart the entire race, lots of stuff obviously didn't make it into the video since he has to condense everything in 8 minutes.

Lazkano, Carapaz and even Gaudu still have a chance to get the polka dot jersey. 60 points for the first two climbs tomorrow, 25 for the first three climbs Saturday, and only 10 pts for each finish (plus 5 pts in the TT). They are 36/40/47 points behind respectively. Presuming Pogi takes the 25 points for the finishes he's at 102... they'd still have to get in the breakaway the next two days so not easy but definitely possible.
HOW GOOD HAS THIS RACE BEEN?? WOW!! Let me just say that I LOVE the changes that they've made to this year's race. This is the best tour I can remember in a good long while!

said this exact thing to a buddy today after the W, been pumped on this guy for this year, great to see him get a massive win.
He put TT tires on his wheel for this stage. Marginal gains matter for these guys, even if it's just psychologically
This tour has had some great stories. Cav taking Eddys record, Girmay practically sewing up green, Bardet getting yellow, Carapaz getting a stage and yellow, pogi and Jonas going toe to toe, the rise of Remco. A tour for the ages!
Agree with most of it except that Pogi and Jonas went toe to toe last year. This year Pogacar seems way too strong
This has been a great tour. Pog has the GC solid, but the race has given us so much
