its because of he manages to seal the defender's hip by attacking the lead foot, and he's pretty quick and very strong when he steps on the gas, so 9/10 he'll get to the rim.
Its crazy how many people have love for drose , no bullshit all game no talk all emotion, he has the mentality of a NBA player in the 90s and he's relatable to everyone
Jimmy is a lot like Kawhi in the fact that his best assets are his strength and body control, Kawhi’s longer limbs give him an edge in performance but I think Jimmy reads the floor better.
THIS was REALLY dope!!! There ARE so MANY layers to JIMMY'S game that PEOPLE simply COMPLETELY overlook. BECAUSE he DOESN'T shoot a CRAZY percentage FROM 3, USE insane HANDLES or MAKES a LIVING flying ABOVE the RIM people OVERLOOK just how GREAT Jimmy IS!!!
@@dashckand facts he doesn't need to be in rhythm to dominate, he can just make something out of nothing 🎯 unfortunately it seems PG can only go off when he's feeling it, but I guess that's what happens with shooters vs. attackers, you always know what you're going to get with the latter but shooting comes and goes
been studying Butlers game for awhile, just the way he plays may seem boring to the ordinary fan but it’s actually technical & straight to the bucket. Plays at his own pace and that’s extremely hard to do considering he’s not a combo ballhandler. Dude is tough
Love that series, but I would actually like it even more if you could pay attention to the mistakes their doings and what they can do to improve. I believe we can learn a lot from that as well.
Wowwww... I always doubt whether my PG style is too simple or not, while I'm surrounded by the guards with complicated plays. Now I've watched your video (and fortunately enough I've watched some bubble games of Jimmy), I understand that efficiency is the most important. No need to doubt my self for the simplicity that even an NBA elite guard has been loyal to. Thank u so much for this analysis. I wish your content will be always comprehensive and useful - and your basketball job will flourish even more!
He plays with such pace, never out of control, never playing to fast, also not the biggest, not the strongest not the fastests but sudden change of speeds will do the work. Goes to show you dont have to go full speed all the time but slow down and think the game
He's so direct with his attack. Straight line to the bucket and a counter for every move in his bag. Play him close and he gets you on his hip and he's stronger than you so he bumps you and you have to foul him or he finishes. Back up to avoid the contact and he hits the short J or floater. Jump stops to get space and if your on your heels he turns around for a short fade. He reminds me of Barkley in Phoenix. No real shifty moves, just sneaky quick and stronger than everyone his size.
Being an amateur athlete with no special capabilities, the more I watch the leader of my favourite team (Jimmy), more I think I should copy his fundamentals into my playstyle.
@@MrWadeSnow bro nets without kyrie and kd can easily make playoffs I don’t think 2 superstars will ruin a team unless they play like Paul George, heat is a great team though no disrespect, if Celtics get their shit together they are better in my opinion
@@Cryptech1010 I don’t give a shit about the East but if you think kyrie, a top 6 pg with kd, one of the best players today and a in depth nets bench isn’t enough to dominate the East what is you smoking, they made the playoffs without their stars why wouldn’t they win the East
Oh I love Jimmy's game. Modeled a lot of mine after Wade. But that jump floater, I love it! Learned it from Wade, get some more notes from Jimmy. Most none is ready for it, I just have to make the shot.
Wouldn't say he can bully LeBron. He can score on him by stopping and letting him go by which was shown in the video. Jimmy's best games vs LAL literally consisted of him attacking anybody on the Lakers except LeBron or AD.
Great assessment and analysis brother! I'm fan of Butler since his early Bulls days. What I've liked about him is his spacing and execution. I don't think he's a bully because he's so clean when it comes to basketball ethics He doesn't like making physical contact or try to hurt some opponent. That right shoulder bump I think is only being used when he's against a great paint defender or just simply he doesn't like/respect the player. He has that like invincible proper zoning simulator in front of him. He knows his limits and the proper distancing that's why his colleagues have learned and adjusted accordingly. His style of balling is just so easy for the referees to make a proper call if a FOUL is committed.
Love your vids and especially love this one on my favorite player in the league...but I do remember you saying that Paul George was better, PG is more skilled but Jimmy is more of a leader, much more clutch and a more disruptive defender plus Jimmy has gotten the better of PG in a majority of their matchups throughout their careers but keep up the great work !!!!
Better for me means better alltogether. Doing more with what you're given. PG doesn't have the work ethic, the unselfishness and the killer mentality, so whatever talent he might have over Jimmy or other players, is wasted. So he's not better imho 🙏🏻
I love the videos the channel has been posting. I do alot of the workouts and I have seen great results. Can you do a damian lillard shooting form breakdown and drills we can use to get that same form?
Jimmy is the most intelligent player in the NBA. I don’t know what his IQ is but I really believe he has high. There’s no one in the league who can guard him if he really wanted to get in the ring.
I like him because he usually goes for the easy bucket rather than those forced stepback 3s with a hundred of unnecessary dribbles forcing teammates waiting on the corner to get the ball lmao 💀
“Crafty bully ball” you summed his entire play style up perfectly with that 😂
Who will win?
Fr
The point about simplicity is so true, his first step doesn't seem that crazy (on TV) but somehow he gets defenders on his hip
Yeah. For me it’s beautiful to see how he can make that many buckets with that simple change-of-pace Playstyle
Its because of his triple threat, low angles and seeking contacts, even my boy lebron went flying
its because of he manages to seal the defender's hip by attacking the lead foot, and he's pretty quick and very strong when he steps on the gas, so 9/10 he'll get to the rim.
Miami’s definitely going somewhere with this roster

Michael May right, in his mvp days he would just float it and it would be automatic
Rose floater early days was ridiculously explosive amazing stop in the dime ability.
His new post hook/floater is also unguardable for his height

Underrated passer also. I'm surprised he didn't mention his ability to find shooter's.
very true
I was thinking the same thing
Butler is prolly one of the more underrated “physically strong” players in the league
“Jimmy Buckets”
Gotta master the art of time⏳
Jimmy g buckets , the g stands for gets
5:07 Definitely took what he saw/learned from D.Rose. It’s his pattened hop step floater at the freethrow
Who can forget that floater of someone over the lakers? Not this lakers.
Jimmy is a lot like Kawhi in the fact that his best assets are his strength and body control, Kawhi’s longer limbs give him an edge in performance but I think Jimmy reads the floor better.
i dont think jimmy butler tries at all until the playoffs or until he needs to turn it up
