Amen to pasta being an excellent catch-all for an ingredient-prep improvisation. I would never suggest putting chickpeas in my tomato sauce pasta dish in my parent's house, but I like the option of keeping legumes in the fridge to add to stuff when I can't afford meat or don't like preparing it. Decision paralysis/fatigue is a problem, especially when it comes to being physically in the grocery store. I've found that doing a pick-up order reduces the stress (and bill) of the whole experience
