What a great year we're having. Finally got Shredders Revenge released, and at the end of the year we get Cowabunga Collection. Good time to be a Turtles fan.

Also, yes, I too lived when this game existed, as well as actually played an arcade cabinet of this game, and I also beat its predecessor the very first time that I had played that game (and. yes, I played as Donatello as well), so you can spare me your elitist and ageist idiocy because you are probably devoid of any original ideas or thoughts inside of your head anyway. I can also tell you that I HATED how heavy that CRT televisions got once you got to the 19 inch stage or more, and if you wanted to carry a 65 inch CRT television, well, short of being in Strongman competitions, you are going to need a crane, as well as some demolition, and renovation, skills to accomplish THAT task, as well as at LEAST half a dozen people to carry that behemoth...oh, and THEN there is the fact that CRT televisions rarely, if ever, came in that size, as they were all practically projector televisions once you got past a 27 inch screen size, which, by the way, also could not play video games without them getting ruined, and if you wanted a CRT television that size, well, they would be VERY expensive if you could actually find one, let alone a store, and/or a television manufacturer, to have one for yourself, so, no, CRT is NOT the way to go, not just in size, but also in physical, as well as fiscal, health. A good LCD flat screen television not only is cheaper, but that it is also lighter, as in you only need two people to carry it, as opposed to a small army of people, or two super stacked behemoths, and/or a crane, it is also cheaper, and it ironically is in pixels, you know, the very things that this game was made from, so, technically, an LCD television is more true to the format, as well as coding, of the actual game than the CRT television ever could be in life, and you just like it because you hate change, as well as you want to view life through rose colored nostalgia glasses.
For the longest time, I thought no Turtles game could top this.
If you refer to shredder revenge, turtles in time is still better, especially the SNES version

I remember my siblings and I renting the he!! out of this game for the SNES. One of the best arcade to console ports like Sunset Riders. I regret not spending birthday and xmas wishes on owning them.

Play the snes version that one has an extra stage and overall a better soundtrack but that’s my opinion

Know Shredder’s Revenge came out and was damn awesome but I can’t wait for this in the Cowabunga Collection.
Back in January of 2007, I went on an outing to a Chuck E. Cheese's in a neighboring town, my first (and, to date, last) such outing since our local one closed and became a comedy club. I came across this game, believing it to be the first (and hitherto believed to be only) arcade title. I initially believed the console version was a 1-to-1 conversion, but it threw me just how different it was from the game I knew, especially when Rat King was a no-show, there was no Technodrome level, Cement Man showed up instead of Slash and Shredder didn't go Super (not that he needed to; he's 10 feet tall in this game!). I don't recall having much trouble, but it'll have been 15 and a half years late this month.
When the movement stops in Sewer Surfin', the music just doesn't have the same effect.
They mistakenly added a 0 to the year Prehistoric Turtlesauras (sic) takes place in the console version.
I forgot that Bebop and Rocksteady weren't in this version. I guess Tokka and Rahzar were more marketable at the time.
Doesn't Neon Night-Riders just seem like a sick joke nowadays? Where are the neon cyberpunk cityscapes we were promised? Then again, that future was conceived in the early '90s (January 1, 1990 to April 30, 1993), when the '80s were trying to die.
At least the colonization of Mars by 2100 is still possible. Fun fact: In the world of The Loud House and The Casagrandes, they're already doing it.

5 years old playing this in a dark corner arcade in the mall, i had to stand on a milk carton to reach loved jumping in on a game and people joining and leaving. farthest i got was that sand monster guy in the dino land. 2 quarters is what i got, loved watching the older people play it after running out of quarters. i remember in awe watching some guy fight krang body towards the end of the game with a croud gathering around him.
As I said in another video, I prefer Pirate Bebop and Rocksteady from the console version. They looked like they were having a good time, and it was funny getting them to fight each other.
They have this at Hollywood Arcade in Ocean City, NJ.
This game and Hyperstone Heist were among my favourite games when I was just a wee lad. Finding this game in an arcade today is like finding Elderado.
The Hyperstone Heist/Return of the Shredder was a watered down, as well as neutered, version of this game that only had one new stage, one new stage OST, and one new boss, who, in comparison to the NES port of the prequel of this arcade game, was a massive disappointment of a boss.
Upload a video for the SNES version of the game if you can. It has the extra stages and boss battles. Definitely the best version of the game
Better balance, stats that matter, every Turtle is viable, etc. Definitely the version to play.

I love this game on SNES
The game is too hard and unfair with full intention, to drain you of your hard earned quarters as how arcades were like at the time.
Honestly, while many games did that, this one went too far with it even compared to most arcade games. The game punishes you for being good at it by throwing more enemies the longer you live(up to 12 enemies at once). When you lose a life the game decreases the number of enemies, but if you beat the next stage without losing a life then the next stage will have more enemies again making it really hard. Add the 5 minute time bomb that shows up when you stay on a stage too long that will try to make you lose a life if it touches you unless you perfectly dodge it and you have a game that wants more quarters than many arcade games out there.
TMNT 89 was better balanced than this, heck the UK and Asian versions of Arcade Turtles in Time is better balanced because they fixed some of the issues with the US version.

My uncle has and arcade machine of this game and it's pretty fun me and my cousin literally beat this game my dad did had the Snes version but I've never played it cause I was born in the late 2000s not the 90s but I like arcade one cause I heard the arcade is 4 players and snes is just 2 players I wish the snes 4 players and I hope they make a remastered one for the switch that would be awesome
Yes, just drop off that ~160 ton statue and fly away. That should be fine. No need to be careful in setting it down, no need to conduct any work to firmly reattach it to the base.
I always felt like this game was not complete and that Konami honestly should have combined this game with the SNES/NSFC one and THEN released the game in 1992.

How could it? Fauci was a nobody before 2020, and Gates was a humble CEO at Microsoft. Those two were planning COVID for a decade.
Look in the 70's , 80's and the 90's people were very optimistic about the future and this optimism influenced how the media at that time potrayed incoming the 21st century .
So I've only ever known of this version but never actually seen it in action. So it strikes me as really odd where things happen. Such as being thrown through time in the sewers randomly. Toka and Razar being at the pirate level instead of Bebop and Rocksteady and Cement Man instead of Slash. This is...certainly something. Also the music not being nearly as good, though that's probably just a matter of taste.
Don't forget the Pizza Monsters being the "boss" of the Sewer stage for Arcade instead of Rat King in the SNES version.
No it’s not taste. The SNES version is objectively better. It’s only downside is not having four player. Everything else is improved and expanded.

@@puppetgeneral39 , honestly, if I could, I would have added two new stages to the SNES/NSFC port of this game, turned the Hyperstone Heist/Return of the Shredder exclusive level as a feudal 16th Century Japan level, added a new 1930s era level, added Slash to the Cement Man stage, made Tatsu actually have some fights, and added the NES exclusive enemies and bosses to the gangster themed level, so, in other words, Tora the Polar Beast and Shogun were tough by themselves, but now they are teaming up to take you down at the same time...oh, and then I would have made the final stage like a regular level and then combined the final fight of this game with the SNES/NSFC version one to make it a super long two part fight because this game honestly needed that twist.
I know, right? I’ve been thinking the exact same things. Technodrome and the Shredder fight have been a great addition. It gets the time travel started much better imo. Also the boss replacement is way more fitting.

The "hard and unfair" could have come from there being 2 characters active even though only one was onscreen. The arcade AI automatically adjusts the amount of on screen enemies to the number of active characters.
Even in single player there's still a lot of enemies on screen and actually the longer you live the more enemies will come. When you lose a life the number of enemies decrease but if you beat the next stage without losing a life then the game will have more enemies on the next stage after that again. But yeah, the UK and Asian versions of this game are more fair due to adding more to the game over the US version like an extra health item and adjustments to the bomb powerup.

For arcade games back then, "hard and unfair" is an understatement. Now in the Cowabunga Collection, there's Nightmare Mode. Try that for an extra challenge, it keeps the game longer.

This isn't true that the game is unfair and not sucks. Btw did you know that you can remove the infinite loop? Simple, go to the service mode and go to game options and on game loop switch "Game Loops Endlessly" to "Game Over After Final Stage" and save. Done, now if you clear the game, the game ends normally instead of loop endlessly.
Fun Fact: In the European version of the game the "Game Loops Endlessly" option, was changed with "Game Over After Second Round" that means after you cleared the game the first time, the game loops one more time and after the game is cleared the second time, the game ends.
This game does not suck but it's unfair in places for the US version. Thankfully the European and Asian versions are more fair for various reasons.

I'm more curious about the music(and to an extent voices). The version that was on PS2/Xbox/Gamecube replaced all the music and even voices!

@@ZEKESPILLEDINKMUSIC Thankfully. Between the arcade game on TMNT 3 Mutant Nightmare and Re-Shelled it sucked to not have the OG music. This will funny enough be a definitive arcade perfect port of the game to consoles after all these years(SNES version is just expanded but still considered better).
Let's be honest. Re-Shelled was far inferior to the original. No Rat King, you replace Slash with a poor-man's Golem, Shredder's lovable Loser's Bebop and Rocksteady are nowhere to be found and you fight Regular Shredder, not Super Shredder! The only improvement was the aesthetic of Neon Night-Riders.
Re-Shelled is based on the Arcade version(which came before the SNES version), not SNES one so it doesn't really have the SNES version's changes and additions(besides Krang's new attack).

I played this game and it's scared me when any ninja turtle throws an enemy, they throw to the screen, this 3d effect is so scared like 2:09.
Is this the actual Arcade version or emulated? The Turtle select theme is missing.
Too bad this game is basically a "quarter muncher" trap for kids...
