I played this as a kid a million times. I was stuck at my nieces birthday party at a skating rink, I noticed they had a tmnt arcade machine. I payed for my nephews to play this with me the whole way through. It was freaking awesome they loved it! This game will always be a classic.
This game was mindblowing back in the day. I remember playing it for the first time in a pizza place back in the day and being awestruck by how good it looked and sounded.
Whenever my father took me to the mall to get a haircut he always let me go to the arcade and give me fifty cents to play this game afterwards. I would play as Donatello and he would be Michelangelo. If I died first he always would step aside and let me play his character. For years circa 1992 that’s just what we did. All of the memories of him doing this for me mean more to me than the fact that he helped me buy my first car or paid for half of my university tuition. Over 25 years later, here I am coming to the realization that if my mother dies first and my dad can’t take care of himself, I’m going to have him come live with my wife and I rather than allow him to go to a retirement home. I can’t believe a beat-em-up arcade game has made that big of a paw-print on the mudbank of my heart, but there you go. 🤷🏼♂️
This is such a nostalgia trip; the good kind, too! I loved the show and was always watching it, but just as much a huge fan of this game. Back when Konami knew how to make a good game. Whoeever was playing did an excellent job, too! It's definitely fun to see all four turtles, but sometimes that makes the game a lot harder since there's more enemies to accommodate them.
The turtles are such truth. They came along and had such a simultaneous impact on comics, video games, tv, movies, toys, and kids. Crazy how good the music in this is, too. And crazy how it was tmnt that had such successful arcade cabinets
It was the arcade perfect storm. Graphics and sound better than anything else in arcades at the time + extremely hot property = cash money. Until SF2 hit this was the cabinet with the largest crowds.
I think this was the first game I saw that really broke the mold as far as graphics and sound. It was the first of the next generation of arcade games and completely blew people away. 8-year-old me would watch it run on demo over and over even when I couldn't successfully beg my mom for quarters (I think she began asking for dimes and nickels as change on purpose after a while).
No No No...Turtle Power is what this UA-camr accomplished He beat the ENTIRE TMNT arcade game and lost ONE life doing it Master Splinter would be proud
@SimpleSite Longplays I remember been playing old arcades on MAME since around 2000s, and it already wasn't any news even back then. BTW you don't need emulators to set difficulty on arcade games, they just simplify the proccess. Old arcade boards has switches to control things like the number of credits per coin and game difficulty. Newer boards like CPS2 and NEOGEO ones already do this on software, then we always could play arcades on very easy with infinite lives even in a real arcade machine, but arcade owners usualy keep it on medium to hard cause it's more proffitable after all.
@@enigminator3578 Could have been worse, you could have lost the life to the retro gun on a run where you lost no lives and Shredder was down to his last hit...wait can he use the retro gun once the helmet is off?
Personally I would have been satisfied if they would have rereleased it as a launch title for SNES with the arcade style graphics and include the bonus levels from the NES port.
Considering how old the NES is it wasn't a bad effort, but should have been re-released on the SNES. Instead we got Turtles in time which most say is better anyway.
To this day I never understood why they called the final level "We gotta find the Technodrome" when you are already technically in the damn thing at the start lol
It is Saturday morning, I've got my pocket money, blagged money off my family and money I've saved, off to the arcade to play TMNT with friends...those were the days, wish I could go back
Arcade1Up is putting out this and Turtles In Time in November. Finally we can all have this masterpiece in its own mini cab in the comfort of our homes!
I remember a container in my hometown 90´s (Europe), made to be a playing venue.. Machines stuck tight side by side.. people crowding, stepping on eachother toes. Almost no air.. sweat, darkness, sound effects overlaying each other. Chaos. They were rings of older players who commanded the area near the top games. To catch an angle to see a screen where one of them play was a reward.. To play.. a miracle of God..
I like how Baxter, doesn't really have a reason to fight the turtles, in fact Hes just happy to be there, he just keeps on laughing and enjoying the fact that he is in the game, A good cameo, to a underappreciated villain
Yeah this game ticked all the boxes, gameplay, fun, music sounds I got goosebumps of nostalgia when the "overgrown corkscrew" drilled through the ground with that iconic noise that the door makes when it is opened
I played this game a couple of times as kid, I fell in love with it, so my mom bought me the nes version, simpler graphics, but longer and it's so hard, a great version on his own. It needs more than an hour to finish it.
Well I'm sorta glad bebop and rocksteady are gonna be in the new movie, took your sweet time didn't you hollywood. Now if we can just get Krang a movie counterpart, let's hope that doesn't take a thousand f**king years
way a head of its time to bad the nes could not produce graphics this good I mean look at it the graphics to this look like they are about a good 32 bits man arcades where always the best at producing awesome graphics but even if this game had lousy graphics it would still do good its fun as hell
ahh... how many of us became victims to excessive quarter loss to this game back in our youth? Definitely worth it. And of course, you've played this enough to make it look real easy. Nice :)
Lol I remember my indignation when the NES port of the game came out and I found out that the music in the sewer level was changed. It pissed me off because that was my favorite music in the game
Many later games, to say the least, have tried to emulate this one's style. Konami themselves would adapt and refine the game style reuse the concept for several later beat em ups (The Simpsons, Sunset Riders, X-Men, Bucky O'Hare, Asterix, Mystic Warriors: Wrath of the Ninjas, Violent Storm, and Metamorphic Force, etc.)
The Battle For New York Begins! Out Of The Cartoon Series In The Sewers Of New York, Comes The Most Spectacular Arcade Game Of All Time, As Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, And Raphael, Take On The Evil Shredder And The Foot Clan! And Now, Grab Your Ninja Weapons, Kick Some Shell, Have A Slice Of Pizza, And Yell Cowabunga, In Konami's Arcade Hit, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES!
3:41 G. Suzuki should've had that deduct a point, or ten. In fact, why even put that in there at all? Also, real talk: The last two scenes should've had each other's titles.
I played this as a kid a million times. I was stuck at my nieces birthday party at a skating rink, I noticed they had a tmnt arcade machine. I payed for my nephews to play this with me the whole way through. It was freaking awesome they loved it!
This game will always be a classic.
B L I went bankrupt on this arcade game so many times...those were the days!!!
B L same here dude
"Uhh, who put the lights out?"
You'd think Leo would know what the inside of a sewer looks like, considering the fact that he LIVES IN ONE...
This game was mindblowing back in the day. I remember playing it for the first time in a pizza place back in the day and being awestruck by how good it looked and sounded.
Back when developiees cared about making good fun games

You have a great Dad. My Dad didnt help me in any financial situation. He didnt take me to the arcade either.
CartoonMan! I’m sorry to hear that, man. If you ever have a child of your own just be the kind of dad you wished you had. ✌️
your dad deserves it, mine didnt care for me as a kid
Sorry to hear about your mum, know you are a good son just like your dad is a good father
This was my most favorite arcade game of all time.
The TMNT game rally's at the arcade. All four people play together and a crowd of 10-15 watch you play....forever missed.
Ah, such a classic. I remember watching this guy beat the whole game at an arcade once, without taking a single hit. It was truly an amazing feat.
01:34 = Boss 1
04:22 = Boss 2
06:50 = Boss 3
08:35 = Boss 4
18:43 = Boss 5
22:00 = Boss 6
23:30 = Boss 7
24:48 = Final Boss

Yeah, those were the golden years of gaming. It was a simpler time, it was a better time.
The best arcade version ever
The turtles are such truth. They came along and had such a simultaneous impact on comics, video games, tv, movies, toys, and kids. Crazy how good the music in this is, too. And crazy how it was tmnt that had such successful arcade cabinets
Whoa, GRAPHICS are TOO GOOD for '89! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!
Stephen P Konami did outstanding work!
Arcade cabinets were more powerful.
This time arcade was definition of graphics and sound power... Now only pc can make something woooaaah... It's the end of the old good time ;)
It was the arcade perfect storm. Graphics and sound better than anything else in arcades at the time + extremely hot property = cash money. Until SF2 hit this was the cabinet with the largest crowds.

Hiking's VideoGames SimpleSite of Longplays But isnt this a arcade game?Like can you change the arcade difficulty back then?
how was he going to record it any other way? Video cam corder on some arcade machine that he'd be lucky to find in operation?
@SimpleSite Longplays I remember been playing old arcades on MAME since around 2000s, and it already wasn't any news even back then. BTW you don't need emulators to set difficulty on arcade games, they just simplify the proccess.

Lost 1 life...from a kick no less.
@@enigminator3578 Could have been worse, you could have lost the life to the retro gun on a run where you lost no lives and Shredder was down to his last hit...wait can he use the retro gun once the helmet is off?
wish they'd put this back on the xbox and ps4 marketplaces. leave a like if you agree.
John Nepper I would buy it in a heartbeat if it was available on the PS4 store
Who else felt gyp'd as a child when they wanted to see the same graphics as on the arcade in their NES version but only got less than that?
Personally I would have been satisfied if they would have rereleased it as a launch title for SNES with the arcade style graphics and include the bonus levels from the NES port.
Considering how old the NES is it wasn't a bad effort, but should have been re-released on the SNES. Instead we got Turtles in time which most say is better anyway.
It was a good port, and the game play held up.
I had The Manhattan Project before The Arcade Game. The mechanics are better on the 3rd installment
It's weird I remember these arcade games looking better at the time. That game took hundreds of my cash back then
Its more than likey an emulator i have it on my soft mod WII
This arcade made me go crazy at games back then.
To this day I never understood why they called the final level "We gotta find the Technodrome" when you are already technically in the damn thing at the start lol
+Gary Beltz: It's a mistake that was even carried over into the NES/Famicom port of the game.
I know, really! Shouldn't it have been "We're inside, or we found the Technodrome", or something along the lines of that? (L.O.L.!)
RIP David Wise. We owe you so much for your contributions, especially in regards to TMNT.
Uh, he's still alive you know!
0:04-0:14 & 0:26-0:36 - *Singer:* "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Heroes in a half-shell. Turtle Power!"
this game never should have been blacklisted from 360 and ps3 marketplace. had a blast every time I played it.
same as The simpson's arcade game
The voice of Shredder is the James Avery too?
Windson Alves facts
Great memories that never come back
It is Saturday morning, I've got my pocket money, blagged money off my family and money I've saved, off to the arcade to play TMNT with friends...those were the days, wish I could go back
GREAT ARCADE LONGPLAY [IIII1] TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES !!!
Arcade1Up is putting out this and Turtles In Time in November. Finally we can all have this masterpiece in its own mini cab in the comfort of our homes!
Go Green Machine!
Loved this when was a kid. I played the shit out of this game. I miss those days too. Back then, life had a whole different set of priorities.
Amazing
Best Arcade Smash Hit! The music is extremely awesome, the graphics is radical, and it's a 10 out of 10! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1!
love this game...forever!
The first time I saw this game was actually in the lobby of where I saw the Turtles movie!
I like how Baxter, doesn't really have a reason to fight the turtles, in fact Hes just happy to be there, he just keeps on laughing and enjoying the fact that he is in the game, A good cameo, to a underappreciated villain
The sounds are so flipping smooth
Yeah this game ticked all the boxes, gameplay, fun, music sounds
I got goosebumps of nostalgia when the "overgrown corkscrew" drilled through the ground with that iconic noise that the door makes when it is opened

Hands down the very best TMNT game ever.
Also am I the only one who responds to Krang when he says "I'm invincible" with "You're a looney"?
I responded with "You just got beat"
bring so much memories....wow
Are the rock soldiers saying "F@#$ the turtles"?
CRUSH the turtles.
Thanks for sharing! I could not have ever seen the end of this awesome game without this video (: I was quite little when I played it
This was back in the day when it didn't cost that much quarters/tokens to play a game.
Me at arcade in the early 90s *runs into Roadkill Rodney* "DO NOT RESIST US!"
Me years later...
All girlfriends: "DO NOT RESIST US!"
It’s so awesome how me and Ojisan speedran through this game on the switch weeks ago. Can’t wait to do it again :)!
The music kicks so much ass that I’d just have this playing in my car with the screen turned off, as if I were playing a CD.
Every piece of music in this game is amazing
Well I'm sorta glad bebop and rocksteady are gonna be in the new movie, took your sweet time didn't you hollywood. Now if we can just get Krang a movie counterpart, let's hope that doesn't take a thousand f**king years
Bebop & Rocksteady were actually considered for "Secret of the Ooze", but the creators ix-nayed it.
way a head of its time to bad the nes could not produce graphics this good I mean look at it the graphics to this look like they are about a good 32 bits man arcades where always the best at producing awesome graphics but even if this game had lousy graphics it would still do good its fun as hell
Fond memories of putting many quarters into this at the arcade.
As a kid, I guess I wasn't old enough to notice that April had a bong, lighter, and ashtray sitting on the endtable.
i like the teenage mutant ninja turtels of the 80s and 90s💜😍
this music is just a masterpiece!
OMG! I played this as a kid 2O years ago! Ah memories!
EPIC classic I must have spent tons of quarters to beat this when I was kid but NES verison takes way longer!
The foot's worst enemy in this game: traffic cones lol
Un gran juego de las tortugas ninja que juegue por primera vez hace mucho tiempo no jugaba 👍😀
ahh... how many of us became victims to excessive quarter loss to this game back in our youth? Definitely worth it.
And of course, you've played this enough to make it look real easy. Nice :)
I really miss these day's 😂😂
Did that with House of the Dead 2 and Time Crisis 4 ALL the time. Wish I was able to do that with this game. Was always worth it :)
The most entertaining game of the turtles!
R.I.P. Konami's 2-D era.
Lol I remember my indignation when the NES port of the game came out and I found out that the music in the sewer level was changed. It pissed me off because that was my favorite music in the game
spent all stolen quarters from the money jar at home, this game and wrestle fest
FIRE!
Hang on April!
Favorite Childhood lines
👍🏻
I want this game to come to PS4 store
BATTLEFRONT I second that
Well you can't. Why? #FucKonami
I love this game classic the good old days 1989 I was born in 1991 two years later when sequel of this game came out.
You know I don't think I ever properly heard the music or SFX back in the day because of how loud arcades tended to be.
Whoever owns that apartment @2:00 has a bong on the end table.
One of the best memories of my youth!
lol yeap i remember doing that with alot of games. Damn i miss those days.
I think most 80's babies played this at Chucky E Cheese.
Have y'all noticed this guy has a mean stick and move game against the bosses 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
I'm not too big on turtles lore, but did they ever make a mutant kangaroo?
MrWhitman Back when the original toy line was out. They made a mutant kangaroo. named Walkabout.
I hate you.... You made this look too easy.... Lol
I seem to vaguely remember seeing this game in the front lobby of a Hill's Department Store.
How much time I spent playing this game! Fantastic ;)
great game i played it every time i came across it
a greates of all time game.
forever

The best game ever
@ 2:20 - Shredder logic: comes through the drill, escapes by the window.
Good game a son époque !!
:)
damn i remember playing this in the arcades in the late 90s
The Battle For New York Begins! Out Of The Cartoon Series In The Sewers Of New York, Comes The Most Spectacular Arcade Game Of All Time, As Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, And Raphael, Take On The Evil Shredder And The Foot Clan! And Now, Grab Your Ninja Weapons, Kick Some Shell, Have A Slice Of Pizza, And Yell Cowabunga, In Konami's Arcade Hit, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES!
Yeah, and Konami added some new stuff to to it. It's called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game.
Say your prayers, toitles
I'm still the best in this game Donatello's my favorite
I played and beat this arcade game as well I remember blowing somewhere between $11-$13 in quarters lol ah the memories.
Leo the ultimate leader
Best game in the turtles family
This game was the dog's danglies back in the day
i love this game still play it to this day the only reson i still have my 360 is for the arcade games x-men, the simpsons it's all good
Fire! Hang on April!
3:41 G. Suzuki should've had that deduct a point, or ten. In fact, why even put that in there at all?
Also, real talk: The last two scenes should've had each other's titles.
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES THE COWABUNGA COLLECTION! Coming Later This Year For Konami And Nickelodeon!
I was just happy for turtles 2 on nes. Ok maybe I felt a little screwed but it was better than the first turtles game on the nes.
If they had just waited a few years, this could have been ported to the SNES instead of the NES.
Put like 15 dollars in quarters in to beat this in the arcade as young teen. My hand hurt for a week.
is it me or in the nes version when you fight shredder the portal to dimension X closes behind him?
Amo esse jogo. Jogava muito no arcade
Ok did anyone know the glitch where you can jump into the background buildings on the city streets level?????
The original TMNT video game!
